What did you do in your sacred garden today?

Checked my hydros today. Datura has a bunch of flowers, and my P. harmala seem to be doing pretty good in the drip system.

    Bali Magic Mushrooms

The cops in Bali have a reputation for being corrupt, whether or not something is legal or illegal doesn't mean you will or won't get into to trouble. I have a friend who used to live in Bali and worked at Twisted Monkey (shroom bar) in poppies lane a couple of months back...heard good things. However, doing shrooms while in a foreign land/environment sounds like a recipe for disaster, especially in Bali. Just don't be one of those fuckhead aussies who make a bad name for the rest of us that actually like and respect the people and culture of the Balinese

Checked on my psychotria cuttings, low and behold, the nexus was the first three out of viridis and carthagenesis to sprout. It is tiny however, i don't know if it will survive. The cuttings were only put down about 6-8 weeks ago. *shrugs*

    Meet up: Perth

Not one religious bone in my body, I am a complete atheist. Notre Dame's Catholic values are in no way forced down your throat, in fact it is challenged quite prolifically within the Sciences. I originally wanted to go to UWA, but after talking to lecturers who had taught there previously (I only say this within the context of Environmental Science and Archaeology), that UWA is caught up in major political bias and the practical aspects of their units are majorly lacking. My Archaeology major at Notre Dame has introduced me into practical work from my first semester, that's working on a genuine Archaeological site relating to the colonisation of Western Australia with the guy who originally discovered the site and has written multiple papers on it. Why would I want to attend a uni. that doesn't introduce me to practical work until my last year. We have a ton of UWA students coming on our digs that have cross enrolled into Notre Dame because UWA simply doesn't deliver. Again, I can only speak from within the Environmental Science and Archaeology streams.

    Meet up: Perth

Notre Dame have a foundation year. It is how I got in. Basically they teach you research and writing skills for the first semester then you do one semester of undergraduate units. I can not recomend it enough. The sole reason for my success at uni.

    Meet up: Perth

As the name suggests, Bach. Science, Majors: Archaeology and Environmental science. In my last year YAY. Don't do archaeology at UWA Cubism, their program stinks. Some of my lecturers have taught there and agree with that exact statement lol The archaeology stream at UWA doesn't introduce you to practical work until your last year. Notre Dame is pretty good, small tutorials and a hell of a lot of one on one time with lecturers.

Transfering plants from soil to hydro/aquaponics

I do in my hydro, but not in my aquaponics. Hard to monitor EC levels in aquaponics since the measurement would take into account the floating particles and such. PPM levels are pretty stndard, ammonia 0, nitrite 0, nitrate is at 20 and pH is around 7.5.

Transfering plants from soil to hydro/aquaponics

Does anyone have opinions/experience on this? I have an outdoor hydro and an aquaponics set up. When transfering plants from soil to hydro/aquaponics a lot tend to suffer stress and die. Is this more to do with the environment, e.g. Light, Temperature etc. or is it more to do with the change between soil to hydro? Some plants do fine however, most do not. Would it be better to make clones in a hydro/aeroponic set up and transfer?

Transfering plants from soil to hydro/aquaponics

Hmmm. I have noticed it more so with my aquaponic setup. Even some plants that are suppose to be good in hydro die. I put a large chilli plant in a couple of weeks ago and it dropped all of its leaves and started wilting. Compare that to the basil that is growing like a weed, there is also a papaya and a passionfruit that is doing really well. It's weird, some plants just don't like the shock of going from soil to hydro. I wonder if, like I said before, it would be better to clone plants and transfer them. So they are going from one medium into the same medium and aren't experiencing the same level of shock. I have been reading up about the TurboKlone. Any one have one or heard anything about them? Seems like a foolproof way to clone plants.

    ID please? Anyone?

That was the natural form of the plant, very rigid, almost succulent like stems.

    ID please? Anyone?

I bought some plants from someone and they had this out the front. Apparently a type of sap oozes from it every now and then, this is just a cutting I took.

    Sterilitily and grafting

Same, no sterilizing for me even though I think I should. It is more of a 'better safe than sorry' scenario, especially when it comes to diseases. After all it isn't that much more effort to wipe with iso. alcohol every couple grafts.

    Loph. flowered without roots.

Hi I got this from a generous member of the forum a few days ago. The loph. looks calloused over (degrafted) and it is flowering. Can i get seeds from it without roots?

    How long after rooting...

How long after rooting a cutting can you use it as graftng stock? Also, how long should a pup be on something that is established before it also can be used as grafting stock. I searched the forum but couldnt find definitive answers. If someone could lead me in the right direction, much appreciated.

Metadata retention laws will pass as Labor folds

This whole metadata policy is ridiculous. The same kind of thing has been done in European countries (Germany and others) with insignificant difference to terror related crime.
