  1. http://www.news.com.au/perthnow/story/0,21...5008620,00.html Nicole Cox, police reporter December 04, 2008 01:00pm EXCLUSIVE: WA POLICE have made what is thought to be WA's first seizure of the potentially fatal hallucinogenic drug DMT, and arrested three men. Police yesterday seized two grams of the drug, known as dimethyltryptamine, and arrested three men after raiding two properties in Denmark and Walpole, in the South of WA. Police were called into investigate after a patient was admitted to Denmark Hospital with a suspected drug overdose of the drug. ``We believe this may be the first seizure of DMT by police in WA . . . And we also believe it is the first arrest as a result of this drug,'' Denmark Sergeant Dave Dench told PerthNow this afternoon. ``This is new (to WA). It's not new to the world. . . it's been used for 300 or 400 years overseas, but it's new to WA. We have never come across this in WA before. ``Even though we've only seized 2 grams, the fact that we've locked up three men, we believe we've put quite a dint in the potential for this drug to hit Denmark in large quantities.'' DMT is extracted from the bark of certain trees and is manufactured during a `` complex cooking process''. Once ``cooked'', the yellow-coloured drug takes a crystalline or powder form. It is usually smoked, sometimes by lacing cannabis with the drug, police say. Sgt Dench said intelligence suggested that the drug was being sold in 1 gram packages for $200. He said chemists believed that each ``dose'' was 15 to 25 mg. ``Our concern is that if someone who hasn't taken the drug before and doesn't know anything about it and takes 1 gram, which is way over the dosage that chemists recommend is sufficient, then it may potentially have some major health effects for them.'' He said police did not have any evidence that the drug, which is believed to have originated in South America, had been manufactured in the South West or from local trees. ``There are about six or seven types of tree that this substance can be extracted from....But we don't have any direct intelligence to suggest it's been cooked locally,'' he said. A 25-year-old Walpole man will be charged by summons with supplying a prohibited drug (DMT), possessing a prohibited drug (DMT) and one count of possessing cannabis. A 22-year-old man from Denmark will be charged by summons with one count of possessing a prohibited drug (DMT) and possessing a smoking implement. The third man, a 23-year-old from Denmark, will be charged by summons for possessing cannabis and possessing a smoking implement. The three men will appear in Albany Magistrates Court in January.

    Worlds oldest Cannabis stash!

at 13:51 on November 27, 2008, EDT. 11/27/2008 12:00:00 AM Dean Beeby, THE CANADIAN PRESS OTTAWA - Researchers say they have located the world's oldest stash of marijuana, in a tomb in a remote part of China. The cache of cannabis is about 2,700 years old and was clearly "cultivated for psychoactive purposes," rather than as fibre for clothing or as food, says a research paper in the Journal of Experimental Botany. The 789 grams of dried cannabis was buried alongside a light-haired, blue-eyed Caucasian man, likely a shaman of the Gushi culture, near Turpan in northwestern China. The extremely dry conditions and alkaline soil acted as preservatives, allowing a team of scientists to carefully analyze the stash, which still looked green though it had lost its distinctive odour. "To our knowledge, these investigations provide the oldest documentation of cannabis as a pharmacologically active agent," says the newly published paper, whose lead author was American neurologist Dr. Ethan B. Russo. Remnants of cannabis have been found in ancient Egypt and other sites, and the substance has been referred to by authors such as the Greek historian Herodotus. But the tomb stash is the oldest so far that could be thoroughly tested for its properties. The 18 researchers, most of them based in China, subjected the cannabis to a battery of tests, including carbon dating and genetic analysis. Scientists also tried to germinate 100 of the seeds found in the cache, without success. The marijuana was found to have a relatively high content of THC, the main active ingredient in cannabis, but the sample was too old to determine a precise percentage. Researchers also could not determine whether the cannabis was smoked or ingested, as there were no pipes or other clues in the tomb of the shaman, who was about 45 years old. The large cache was contained in a leather basket and in a wooden bowl, and was likely meant to be used by the shaman in the afterlife. "This materially is unequivocally cannabis, and no material has previously had this degree of analysis possible," Russo said in an interview from Missoula, Mont. "It was common practice in burials to provide materials needed for the afterlife. No hemp or seeds were provided for fabric or food. Rather, cannabis as medicine or for visionary purposes was supplied." The tomb also contained bridles, archery equipment and a harp, confirming the man's high social standing. Russo is a full-time consultant with GW Pharmaceuticals, which makes Sativex, a cannabis-based medicine approved in Canada for pain linked to multiple sclerosis and cancer. The company operates a cannabis-testing laboratory at a secret location in southern England to monitor crop quality for producing Sativex, and allowed Russo use of the facility for tests on 11 grams of the tomb cannabis. Researchers needed about 10 months to cut red tape barring the transfer of the cannabis to England from China, Russo said. The inter-disciplinary study was published this week by the British-based botany journal, which uses independent reviewers to ensure the accuracy and objectivity of all submitted papers. The substance has been found in two of the 500 Gushi tombs excavated so far in northwestern China, indicating that cannabis was either restricted for use by a few individuals or was administered as a medicine to others through shamans, Russo said. "It certainly does indicate that cannabis has been used by man for a variety of purposes for thousands of years." Russo, who had a neurology practice for 20 years, has previously published studies examining the history of cannabis. "I hope we can avoid some of the political liabilities of the issue," he said, referring to his latest paper. The region of China where the tomb is located, Xinjiang, is considered an original source of many cannabis strains worldwide. Would of loved a few of those seeds!!!!

WA Police seize lethal new drug!

This was in the Wext Australian paper today ;) "said DMT was usually sniffed or smoked and it was similar to LSD, but rather than having hallucinations, a user would feel like they were having very vivid dreams while they were awake." Police uncover alleged DMT lab in Albany 5th December 2008, 11:00 WST Albany detectives uncovered an alleged clandestine lab where the dangerous psychedelic drug DMT was being manufactured during a raid in Albany yesterday. Organised crime officers were called from Perth to deal with the find after Albany detectives raided the home in relation to other drug inquiries, police said. No charges have yet been laid but thewest.com.au has been told that residents were cooking the DMT when the house was raided. There were fears the potent drug had hit WA streets after south-west officers made the State’s first seizure of dimethyltryptamine (DMT) on Wednesday. The drug, which was created by cooking a plant extract with chemicals, was not common in WA but there had been evidence of it being used as far back as the 1930s, a drug researcher said. Professor Steve Allsop, the National Drug Research Institute director, said DMT was usually sniffed or smoked and it was similar to LSD, but rather than having hallucinations, a user would feel like they were having very vivid dreams while they were awake. “The risks for overdose or injury are high because users go from being totally sober to highly intoxicated in less than a minute,” he said. Prof Allsop said he was concerned by the seizure of the drugs, which had been known to cause mental illnesses. “I’m not aware of any deaths related to overdosing but adverse effects include being highly anxious, paranoid, agitated and scared.” Denmark Sgt Dave Dench said the police investigation was sparked after two people were treated at Denmark Hospital for a suspected overdose to DMT. It appeared the drug was being sold in 1g packages for $200, although less than 25mg was needed to produce the hallucinogen effect. Police in Albany, Denmark and Walpole allegedly seized almost 2g of the drug and charged three men during raids on two properties in Walpole and Denmark. A Walpole man, 25, was charged with supplying a prohibited drug (DMT) and possession of DMT and cannabis, while a Denmark man, 22, was charged with possession of DMT and possession of a smoking implement used for smoking DMT. Another Denmark man, 23, was charged with possessing cannabis and smoking implement. The trio will appear in Albany Magistrates Court in January. 13. I really hope you can find a Dr to help but it will be a battle as I’ve been thru the same thing!!! “The president of the NSW branch of the Australian Medical Association, Dr Choong-Siew Yong, said it supported the trial.” Some links that you might get some more Dr’s names from........ http://www.theage.com.au/articles/2003/05/...3196582046.html http://www.smh.com.au/articles/2003/05/20/1053196584933.html http://www.aph.gov.au/library/Pubs/RN/2003-04/04rn13.htm http://www.cancercouncil.com.au/editorial.asp?pageid=1778 http://www.medical-cannabis-information-se...submission.html http://www.druginfo.nsw.gov.au/medicinal_u...nal_cannabis_uk http://www.news-medical.net/?id=1677 It took me 5+ years to find the strains of cannabis that would help with my circadian rhythm sleep disorder & Narcolepsy. After years searching I found certain Haze, landrace Sativa, landrace Indica & some Hybrids that in combination worked wonderfully for my condition for 10+ years. Then just like you I was visited by the boy’s in blue & my life was turned upside down. My specialist agreed 110% that Organic Cannibis administrated via a vaporisor was better for treating my condition & also better for my long term health than the Dexamphetamines, Modafinal, Vallium & Blood Pressure tablets that he prescribes for me. My Blood pressure was always fine why I was treating myself with Medical Cannibs!!! My medications now cost me about $30+ a week and they are NOT as effective as Cannibis! But my Specialist just “LAUGHTED” at me when I asked him if he would like to tell that to the Judge at my trial!!!!!!!! Best of luck guy’s

    Killing Fungus Gnats. :(

Try mixing Baby Oil & Neem Oil with water and spray onto soil surface & plant surfaces. You may have to do this a few times, if your pots are fully infested I would submerse the whole pot in a solution of neem oil & water for about 5 hours then let dry out for a week or two! Also try to water your plants from the bottom of the pot as this will keep the top few cm's dry and not attractive to pregnant gnats Hope that helps.

    eggplants

A few I find Yummy Chocolate Eggplants INGREDIENTS * 2 Eggplants (Thinly Sliced) * Coarse Sea Salt * Flour (For Dredging) * Extra Virgin Olive Oil (For Deep Frying) * 450g Bittersweet Chocolate (Cut Into Small Pieces) * 240ml Milk * 120ml Toasted Almonds (Chopped) Method 1. Prep the eggplant by salting the slices and laying them in a colander for 30 minutes, to sweat out any bitterness. 2. Rinse and blot dry. 3. Dredge eggplant slices into flour and deep-fry in extra virgin olive oil set at 375 degrees Fahrenheit. (Avoid frying too many at once, as temperature of the oil will drop causing eggplant slices to become overly greasy. Absorb excess oil by placing eggplant slices on paper towels). 4. To melt chocolate, place it in a stainless steel bowl over a pot of simmering water. 5. Whisk in milk until the consistency of the chocolate becomes velvety. 6. Place eggplant slices on a dish. Drizzle with melted chocolate and sprinkle toasted almonds on top. 7. Let sit at room temperature before serving. Eggplant Gratin INGREDIENTS * Olive Oil (For Frying) * ¾lb Eggplant (Unpeeled, Sliced 1/2 Inch Thick) * ¼ cup Ricotta * 1 Extra Large Egg * ¼ cup Half-And-Half (1/2 Whole Milk, 1/2 Single Cream) * ½ cup Plus 2 Tablespoons Freshly Grated Parmesan * Kosher Salt * Freshly Ground Black Pepper * ½ cup Good Bottled Marinara Sauce Method 1. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F. 2. Heat about 1/8-inch of olive oil in a very large frying pan over medium heat. When the oil is almost smoking, add several slices of eggplant and cook, turning once, until they are evenly browned on both sides and cooked through, about 5 minutes. Be careful, it splatters! Transfer the cooked eggplant slices to paper towels to drain. Add more oil, heat, and add more eggplant until all the slices are cooked. 3. Meanwhile, in a small bowl, mix together the ricotta, egg, half-and-half, 1/4 cup of the Parmesan, 1/8 teaspoon salt, and 1/8 teaspoon pepper. 4. In each of 2 individual gratin dishes, place a layer of eggplant slices, then sprinkle with Parmesan, salt and pepper and spoon 1/2 of the marinara sauce. Next, add a second layer of eggplant, more salt and pepper, half the ricotta mixture, and finally 1 tablespoon of grated Parmesan on top. 5. Place the gratins on a baking sheet and bake for 25 to 30 minutes or until the custard sets and the top is browned. Serve warm. Eggplant Parmigiana (Melanzana Alla Parmigiana) INGREDIENTS * 3 medium Eggplants (Or 5 To 6 Smaller Eggplants About 2 1/2 To 3 Pounds Total) * 1 tablespoon Coarse Sea Salt * 3 large Eggs * 1 teaspoon Salt * Plain Flour (For Dredging) * 2 cups Fine, Dry Breadcrumbs * ½ cup Olive Oil (Or As Needed) * ½ cup Vegetable Oil * Tomato Passata * 2 cups Grated Reggiano Parmigiano Cheese * 12 Basil Leaves * 1lb Fresh Mozzarella (Or Imported Fontina Cheese, Cut Into Slices 1/3 Inch Thick) Method 1. Trim the stems and ends from the eggplants. Remove strips of peel about 1-inch wide from the eggplants, leaving about half the peel intact. Cut the eggplant lengthwise into 1/2-inch thick slices and place them in a colander. Sprinkle with the coarse salt and let drain for 1 hour. Rinse the eggplant under cool running water, drain throroughly and pat dry. 2. Whisk the eggs and 1 teaspoon salt together in a 13 x 9 inch baking pan or wide, shallow bowl. Spread the flour and breadcrumbs in an even layer in two separate wide, shallow bowls or over sheets of wax paper. Dredge the eggplant slices in flour, shaking off the excess. Dip the floured eggplant into the egg mixture, turning well to coat both sides evenly. Let excess egg drip back into the pan, then lay the eggplant in the pan of breadcrumbs. Turn to coat both sides well with breadcrumbs, pressing with your hands until the breadcrumbs adhere well to the eggplant. 3. Pour 1/2 cup each of the olive oil and vegetable oils into a medium skillet. Heat over medium-high heat until a corner of the eggplant slices gives off a lively sizzle when dipped into the oil. Add as many of the eggplants slices as fit without touching and cook, turning once, until well browned on both sides, about 6 minutes. Remove the eggplant to a baking pan lined with paper towels and repeat with the remaining eggplant slices. 4. Adjust the heat as the eggplant cooks to prevent the bits of coating that fall off the eggplant slices from burning. Add the oil to the pan as necessary during cooking to keep level more or less the same. 5. Preheat the oven to 375F. Heat the tomato sauce too simmering, if necessary, in a small saucepan over medium heat. Ladle enough sauce into a 9x13inch bakign dish to cover the bottom. Sprinkle with an even layer of grated cheese and top with a layer of fried eggplant, pressing it down gently. 6. Tear a few leaves of basil over the eggplant and ladle about 3/4 cups of the sauce to coat the top evenly. Sprinkle an even layer of grated cheese over the sauce and top with a layer of Mozzarella or Fontina, using about one-third of the cheese. 7. Repeat the layering as described above two more times, ending with a top layer of sliced cheese that leaves a border of about 1 inch around the edges of the baking dish. Drizzle sauce around the border of the baking dish and sprinkle the top layer with the remaining grated cheese. Finish with a few decorative streaks or rounds of tomato sauce. Cover the baking dish loosely with aluminum foil and poke several holes in the foil with the tip of a knife. Bake 30 minutes. 8. Uncover, and continue baking until the top layer of cheese is golden in spots about 15 minutes. Let rest 10 to 20 minutes, then cut into squares and serve. Mmmmmmm Im HUNGRY now!
