How to pass a lie detector test

Put a drawing pin in your shoes, when you answer the truth prick yourself with the pin ;) Develop a breathing strategy. Throughout the test (except during control questions) maintain a normal breathing rate of 15-30 breaths per minute. Do not breathe too deeply. Then alter breathing rate with control questions. You can make it faster or slower, you can hold your breath for a couple of seconds after an exhalation, or you can breathe more shallowly, for example. Do this for 5-15 seconds, and return to your normal in response to something relevant—you will fail the polygraph. Do math in your head. During control questions, do something mentally complex. For example, count backwards in your head as quickly as possible or do some quick long division, as you are answering the question. Think about something exciting or frightening; think of things that make you ecstatic, fearful, or frustrated. Contract your anal sphincter muscle when a control question is asked. While also highly effective, this method may (or may not) be discovered with the use of pressure-sensitive seat pads that are now commonly used.

    AGAINST “LEGALIZATION”

Also I just found out that there are only 4 pescriptions currently in Australia for Sativex as most Dr's are to scared of the AMA! It seems some very brave Dr's are trying to change that....... http://www.perthnow.com.au/news/victorian-doctors-want-approval-to-use-marijuana-for-ms-sufferers/story-e6frg12c-1225819848932 DOCTORS want approval to use marijuana to help treat Victorian patients suffering multiple sclerosis. If successful it would be the first time permission has been given for the drug's legal use in prescription medicine in Australia. The push to trial a liquid marijuana-based mouth spray to ease the symptoms and pain of MS sufferers is being led by a doctor from the Royal Melbourne Hospital's neurology department. The doctor is expected to lodge a formal request with the hospital's ethics committee when it next meets. He wants to be able to prescribe Sativex, a drug developed in the UK by GW Pharmaceuticals, a company established specifically to develop cannabis-based prescription medicines. According to the company's website there is no evidence that patients obtain a high such as those experienced by marijuana smokers. The most common side-effects of Sativex are sleepiness, nausea, and dizziness. The drug is widely used in the UK, Canada and Spain, and is being tested in the US. It is claimed Sativex helps alleviate pain and other debilitating symptoms associated with advanced MS, including tremors and loss of movement control and bladder control. It is also being prescribed to cancer patients in some countries for pain relief and has been tested on patients suffering rheumatoid arthritis and neuropathic pain. It is understood the doctor from the Royal Melbourne contacted Victoria's Health Department late last year seeking advice on making an application to use the drug to treat MS patients. "The prescribing medical practitioner is currently going through the process of applying for approval from the hospital's Human Research Ethics Committee," she said. "For approval to be given for the prescription of this medicine in this trial, both state and Commonwealth approval is required "However the state can give its approval prior to the drug receiving Commonwealth consent and TGA approval." The process requires doctors to provide their qualifications as well as patients' details, including diagnosis and intended dosage of the medicine. A Royal Melbourne Hospital spokesman said it would not be unexpected for a doctor to seek permission to use a drug that has been successful in other countries. The Herald Sun also reveals the Therapeutic Goods Administration recently approved four applications by a Victorian doctor to use the same drug to treat a rare neurological condition. The "special access scheme" enables unregistered drugs to be used in very limited circumstances for a specific patient with their consent. "There are no others applications current and Sativex is not registered in Australia," a TGA spokesman said. MS Australia's Dr Bill Carroll said any drug that gave sufferers relief was worth a try. "We are looking forward to the results of rigorous testing that must take place in order to determine whether this drug will be effective in helping people living with this disease," he said. MS sufferer Robert Pask said he was encouraged by the possibility of any new drugs that could help manage his disease. "I'll be waiting to see the results of the trials to determine whether this drug may help relieve pain, which is one of my most debilitating symptoms," he said. Sativex uses cannabinoids and other pharmacologically active components taken from cannabis plants grown in secure glasshouses at a secret location in the UK. The cannabis-based substances are classified as Schedule 9 under the Victorian drugs and poisons schedule. By law, medical practitioners must apply to the Secretary of the Health Department for a permit to administer them.

Where in Australia is Cannabis legal for medical use? Marinol was trialed but was droped as it cost something like $2000 per script, and you had to be dying of Aids or cancer to qualify. Would LOVE some details please as I dont think the TGA has ever allowed any cannabis or any parts of cannabis to be used in Australia.

Couple face khat drug possession charges

November 18, 2009 01:02pm A COUPLE who were allegedly selling the leaves of a common and legally grown plant will face drug charges in a West Australian court. Police say the 40-year-old man and his 37-year-old wife, from Thornlie in Perth's east, were caught with more than 30kg of khat after a search of their home this week. Officers raided the home after the discovery of 7.5kg of khat in three parcels being sent to the couple by post. Another 25kg of the plant was found in the home, along with an amount of cash, police spokesman Sergeant Greg Lambert said. Sgt Lambert said that while growing khat in Australia was legal, removing and using the leaves was not. He said the plant, which is chewed as a stimulant in many areas of eastern Africa, is common in Perth, particularly in the western suburbs. "It grows legally, but cultivating its leaves is illegal," Sgt Lambert. "We have dealt with quite a few cases of trespass where people have scaled fences or gone onto properties to try to grab the plant's leaves." He said the Thornlie case was unusual because of the large amount involved. Both of the accused have been charged with attempting to possess a prohibited drug with intent to sell or supply, possession with intent to sell or supply and unlawful possession. They were bailed to appear in Armadale Magistrates Court on December 3. Wikipedia says khat is native to east Africa and the Arabian peninsula and is also known as qat, qaat, quat, gat, jaad, chat, chad, chaad and miraa, depending on the country in which it is found. Containing the active agents cathinone and cathine, it remains legal in the UK but is banned throughout Europe and north America, Cathinone is a prohibited drug in Australia, while cathine is restricted to prescription use or supply by a doctor. According to a BBC report on the drug, khat users say the substance gives them a mellow high, while some describe it as a cross between cannabis and cocaine. Students and taxi drivers say its stimulatory effects enable them to stay awake during long hours of work.

    Cannabis laws to be repealed

Still nothing This was in the "The West Australian" on Friday 13, November 2009 I cant find a source online, so I have typed it up.......... Funding hurdle for tougher drug laws. By Amanda Banks Gaping holes have emerged in the State Government's promise to introduce tougher cannabis laws after revelations no money has been set aside for the thousands of compulsory education courses that will be needed under the legislation, according to the Opposition. Despite the legislation being identified as a priority, Health Minister Graham Jacobs' Office said that funding for the legislation would be considered as part of the normal Budget process. Shadow mental health minister Roger Cook said the failure to set aside funding for the laws demonstrated a lack of serious commitment to the move. "The Government is all talk and no action in relation to drug laws," Mr Cook said. "This legislation has huge budgetary implications". The cannabis legislation, which honours a key election commitment to scrap Labor's 2003 laws, is long overdue after the Government broke a promise to have tougher regime in place by the end of last year. The legislation will axe a two plant cultivation limit and reduce the prosecution threshold for possession from 30g to 10g. It will also scrap the infringement notice system and force first offenders caught with amounts under 10g to complete compulsory intervention sessions. The laws were high on the Government's list of legislation in the Lower House on Wednesday, but will need to pass through a heavy agenda in the Legislative Council before Parliament breaks for summer in two weeks. So after reading this I spent hour's sending individual Emails to 13 members of the Legislative Council. I also spent hours handwriting individual letter's to the Premier, his Health Minister, his Mental Health Minister, the Opposition leader & also the shadow Minister for Health/Mental Health. A letter might be a bit harder to ignore as I reckon my 1st email was a victim of the delete button as I never even got a reply from the Premier's office saying that my letter has been passed onto the Minister for mental Health

  15. http://www.news.com.au/perthnow/story/0,21...5008620,00.html Katie Bastians November 06, 2009 07:10pm PERTHNOW EXCLUSIVE: Australian Customs has blocked the importation of legal "party pills" which mimic the effects of illegal drugs such as ecstasy. PerthNow understands the Therapeutic Goods Administration also seized shipments of similar products, after a Perth man suffered a stroke after he took more than the recommended dosage of herbal based products. Reporters test legal party drugs: click here Retailers and producers of these products were concerned the move would lead to more people doing illegal drugs. Manufactured by New Zealand company Lightyears, “party pills” have a range of products which give a "legal high". Owner Matthew Wielenga said he did not know what justification Customs were using to detain $50,000 worth of his stock “for further inspection” and insisted all his products contained only natural ingredients. Doctors warn of dangers: click here “These products are sold all over the world and accepted by other countries, because they only contain natural ingredients,” Mr Wielenga said. Mr Wielenga said they recently had all their products and ingredients cleared for sale in all European Union countries but “customs in Australia are giving us a really hard time.” The Trans-Tasman Mutual Recognition Arrangement states a good that may be legally sold in Australia may be sold in New Zealand, and vice versa. A Customs and Border Protection spokesperson told PerthNow they were acting on behalf of the Therapeutic Goods Administration. The TGA have refused to answer any questions. PerthNow understands the TGA are investigating the whole range of “party pills” and the legal pill “Blessed”, part of the “A-class” range, also produced in New Zealand. A man allegedly suffered a stroke at Fremantle Hospital about five months ago when he took two Blessed pills and an “urban shaman”, a product which allegedly contained substances that had been banned in China, and no longer in supply. This dosage exceeded the limit recommended on the back of the packaging, which also said the products should not be taken with alcohol—a friend of the man said the stroke victim had consumed alcohol at The Norfolk Hotel. It is also alleged the man had a caffeine intolerance and was on anti-depressants. Two weeks ago the TGA raided the Perth retailer who sold the man the tablets, ceased all their products and stopped them trading. The founder of the alternative party pill industry and director of Social Tonics Association of New Zealand Matt Bowden, came up with a BZP based party pill after a family member died of ecstasy--he also had a methamphetamine addiction and so was determined to find a less addictive and potent alternative. The New Zealand government banned BZP based party pills in April last year but Mr Bowden disputed the evidence used to implement the ban. “In New Zealand…when drug alternatives were made illegal, research clearly showed consumers were turned to the more dangerous and illegal drugs,” Mr Bowden told Perthnow. TV3 News in New Zealand reported that researcher Chris Wilkins from Massey University had discovered the BZP ban meant people were doing more ecstasy. “One drug dealer said that after the BZP ban, his ring went from selling 500 ecstasy pills a month to 5000 a week,” TV3 reported. Mr Wielenga was also adamant more people would use illegal drugs if alternatives were banned. Post your comments people..........

    Cannabis laws to be repealed

    No still waiting!
  18. http://www.news.com.au/perthnow/story/0,21...5008620,00.html Andrea Hayward October 28, 2009 12:40pm A WATTLE species not seen since it was first collected more than 160 years ago has been rediscovered in Western Australia's wheatbelt. The WA Department of Environment and Conservation (DEC) said Acacia leptoneura was previously only known from a specimen collected between 1837 and 1848 by botanist James Drummond. Another wattle Acacia torticarpa was known from only a small handful of collections made by Charles Gardner between 1945 and 1949 has also been identified. DEC flora conservation officer Joel Collins said the rare finds were made through ongoing survey work in the wheatbelt. ``The discoveries highlight the need for continuing surveys of poorly known flora species,'' Mr Collins said. ``There are many road reserves that have not been thoroughly surveyed, with many more populations waiting to be rediscovered.'' Mr Collins found a single Acacia leptoneura plant on a heavily cleared road reserve, north of Dowerin, about 150km northeast of Perth. ``I discovered the plant from the cab of my vehicle as it had a distinctive spreading habit that is very similar to another rare acacia, so I stopped to take a closer look,'' he said. The Acacia torticarpa population was found in nearby Cunderdin and consists of 120 plants. Both of the species rediscovered by Mr Collins are in the process of being ranked priority one, the category reserved for species with one or a few threatened populations. They will also be considered for declaration as rare flora. DEC staff are undertaking further surveys to try to locate additional populations and seed collection is also planned.

I have not had a reply yet!!!!!! I asked Colin Barnett to please refer me to a Perth Dr who will tell me that 0.5 of a gram of Medicinal Cannabis vaporized per day is worse for me than a daily concoction of Dexamphetamines, Modafinal, Valium, Over the counter sleeping aids & Blood pressure medication! I guess it's taking him time to find a Dr who will state such a thing........lol

    Acacia eating spider ;)

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/science/nature/8302535.stm A spider that dines almost exclusively on plants has been described by scientists. It is the first-known predominantly vegetarian spider; all of the other known 40,000 spider species are thought to be mainly carnivorous. Bagheera kiplingi, which is found in Central America and Mexico, bucks the meat-eating trend by feasting on acacia plants. The research is published in the journal Current Biology. The herbivorous spider was filmed on high-definition camera. Running the gauntlet The jumping arachnid, which is 5-6mm long, has developed a taste for the tips of the acacia plants - known as Beltian bodies - which are packed full of protein. But to reach this leafy fare, the spider has to evade the attention of ants, which live in the hollow spines of the tree. The ants and acacia trees have co-evolved to form a mutually beneficial relationship: the aggressive ants protect the trees from predators, swarming to attack any invaders; and in return for acting as bodyguards, the ants get to gorge on the acacias' Beltian bodies themselves. But the crafty Bagheera kiplingi has found a way to exploit this symbiotic relationship. One of the study's authors, Professor Robert Curry, from Villanova University, Canada, told BBC News: "The spiders basically dodge the ants. "The spiders live on the plants - but way out on the tips of the old leaves, where the ants don't spend a lot of time, because there isn't any food on those leaves." But when they get hungry, the spiders head to the newer leaves, and get ready to run the ant gauntlet. Professor Curry said: "And they wait for an opening - they watch the ants move around, and they watch to see that there are not any ants in the local area that they are going after. "And then they zip in and grab one of these Beltian bodies and then clip it off, hold it in their mouths and run away. "And then they retreat to one of the undefended parts of the plant to eat it." Like other species of jumping spider, Bagheera kiplingi has keen eyesight, is especially fast and agile and is thought to have good cognitive skills, which allows it to "hunt" down this plant food. Fierce competition The spider's herbivorous diet was first discovered in Costa Rica in 2001 by Eric Olsen from Brandeis University, and was then independently observed again in 2007 by Christopher Meehan, at that time an undergraduate student at Villanova University. The team then collaborated to describe the spider for the first time in this Current Biology paper. Professor Curry said he was extremely surprised when he found out about its unusual behaviour. He said: "This is the only spider we know that deliberately only goes after plants." While some spiders will occasionally supplement their diet with a little nectar or pollen, Bagheera kiplingi's diet is almost completely vegetarian - although occasionally topped up with a little ant larvae at times. Professor Curry said there were numerous reasons why this spider might have turned away from meaty meals. He said: "Competition in the tropics is pretty fierce so there are always advantages to doing what someone else isn't already doing. "They are jumping spiders, so they don't build a web to catch food, so they have to catch their prey through pursuit. And the Beltian bodies are not moving - they are stuck - so it is a very predictable food supply." Acacias also produce leaves throughout the year - even through the dry season - which would make them attractive. And Professor Curry added: "Because the plants are protected by ants, they have none of their own chemical defences that other plants do." I reckon the spider just like abit of spice, imagine the visuals with all those eye's............lol

    Cannabis laws to be repealed

PLEASE every member of "The Cooroboree" from W.A., Please go here ....... http://www.premier.wa.gov.au/Pages/FeedBack.aspx ....... and send this idiot an email about this change! I have just sent the following........ Legal sanctions have done nothing to decrease drug use, they have caused immense suffering to millions of people. Prohibition benifits organised crime, police and detention facilities budgets, the media, terroist organisations, and politicians who see tough on drugs as an easy crowd pleaser. Meanwhile billions of dollars are wasted, drug users become criminals, and our gaols are full, as we blindly follow the past agenda set by the U.S. The tragic irony is that much of Europe and now the U.S. are moving towards an end to prohibition, the failure of prohibition has never been more obvious. and good ole W.A. continues to toe the party line set by the religious right and a dumbed down media. With the state government planning to take cannabis laws back to stone ages (no pun intended) with the removal of the two plant decriminalisation they will be forcing one third (33.6%) of West Australians who had used it in their lifetime and one in twenty (4.6%) had used it in the last week straight to drug dealers. Our laws are supposed to protect us, not cause more harm than the ‘percieved threat’ The harm caused by alcohol consumption and cigarette addiction is so significantly greater than the adverse affects of cannabis use. It would be nice to hear some of the benefits of using cannabis, lets face it, why on earth would some states, like California in the United States of America be allowing this wonderful herb to be enjoyed as treatment for many ailments from Asthma to Anxiety, Cancer, Anorexia and Alzheimer’s to name a few. Studies have shown cannabis to be useful in treating alcoholism, attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder(ADHD or AD/HD) amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, collagen-induced arthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, asthma, atherosclerosis autism, bipolar disorder, childh ood mental disorders, colorectal cancer, depression, diabetic retinopathy, dystonia, epilepsy, digestive diseases, gliomas, hepatitis C, Huntington’s disease, hypertension, urinary incontinence, leukemia, skin tumors, morning sickness, methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), Parkinson’s disease, pruritus, posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), sickle-cell disease, and sleep apnea. A Canadian study shows marijuana promotes neuron growth. The Neuropsychiatry Research Unit at the University of Saskatchewan suggests the drug could have some benefits when administered regularly in a highly potent form. Whereas most “social drugs” such as alcohol, heroin, cocaine and nicotine suppress growth of new brain cells, the researchers found that cannabinoids promoted generation of new neurons in rats’ hippocampi. The study held true for either plant-derived or synthetic versions of cannabinoids. The findings were published in the 2005 November issue of the Journal of Clinical Investigation. THC has been found to reduce tumor growth in common lung cancer by 50 percent and to significantly reduce the ability of the cancer to spread, say researchers at Harvard University, who tested the chemical in both lab and mouse studies. The researchers suggest that THC might be used in a targeted fashion to treat lung cancer. Research done by the Scripps Research Institute in California shows that the active ingredient in marijuana, THC, prevents the formation of deposits in the brain associated with Alzheimer’s disease. THC was found to prevent an enzyme called acetylcholinesterase from accelerating the formation of “Alzheimer plaques” in the brain more effectively than commercially marketed drugs. THC is also more effective at blocking clumps of protein that can inhibit memory and cognition in Alzheimer’s patients, as reported in Molecular Pharmaceutics. I did use Organically grown Cannabis vaporized to eliminate the carcinogenic properties of smoking a substance to combat a Shift work sleep disorder (SWSD) (is a circadian rhythm sleep disorder which affects people who change their work or sleep schedules frequently or who work). Now it look’s like I have to go back to what the good old Dr has prescribed me & that is a cocktail of Dexamphetamines, Modafinal, Valium, various sleeping tabs & blood pressure medication. When I use organic cannabis I need none of the above! You Mr Honourable Colin Barnett are KILLING me with you stupid little laws, I am a adult and it is disgusting that you can tell me what I can & cant medicate with! Find one Dr & refer them to me that can prove to me that taking “Dexamphetamines, Modafinal, Valium, various sleeping tabs & blood pressure medication” is less harmful to me than vaporized organically grown cannabis PLEASE!!! I am otherwise a law abiding citizen that supports 3 children & my partner and pays in excess of $28 000 aus dollars in tax every year! I look forward to reading your response Honourable Colin Barnett. Regards Tax payer of W.A. PLEASE people even if you only send one line saying "YOUR a Knob" Please do this for yourself even if you do not use cannabis.
