Well... a year on I've lost those seeds, and while they may resurface I can't guarantee anything. Thanks for all the PMs though, guys, it's reaffirmed my confidence in the ability of meth to bring people together.

Unique or interesting cacti for hanging baskets
endorfinder replied to Mr. Bowser's topic in Cacti & Succulents
Zygocactus grows well in hanging baskets The flowers are breathtaking. -
Does smoking potent marijuana make you more likely to be addicted?
endorfinder replied to CLICKHEREx's topic in News & Notices
Actually no, only alcohol of those three. The only common withdrawal which can be fatal that I'm aware of are sedative-hypnotics (barbs, benzos, booze), withdrawing from all of which can cause fatal seizures in those highly dependant. -
how long do you soak your seeds in Gibberellic acid prior to planting
endorfinder replied to DiscoStu's topic in Cacti & Succulents
Unless you have a good reason... you don't. I've used GA3 to break dormancy on non-cactus seed with 12-24hr soaks, but know that it won't improve viability per se. Any improvement in growth rate above and beyond what's needed to break dormancy usually comes at the expensive of stretching/bolting, I wouldn't bother. If you do use GA3 on your seeds I recommend you also plant some without treatment for comparison.- 3 replies

What does "high and buzzy" mean? I have no idea about the effects you report but if you know how to reproduce this plant I'd be interested in growing it -ef

Hi guys, I just received a packet of star anise seed in the mail. Does anyone have any experience growing the stuff, particularly in the tropics? Wikipedia and elsewhere say that it grows in southern NSW but I'm quite a bit hotter and wetter than that. Seems the seeds require no special treatment, but advice is always appreciated! cheers -ef

wanted; unusual Winter Herbs/Vegies
endorfinder replied to theuserformallyknownasd00d's topic in Seed & Plant Swaps
I will have some heirloom Cuban pepper seeds as soon as I've gotten to eat them. I'm told they're barely more spicy than supermarket capsicums but only about the size of a golf ball and with a smokey taste. PM me toward the end of the week and I'll have some dried and ready if you like. If it comes to buying seeds, check out Eden Seeds if you haven't already, too, they're great to deal with and also sell a few traditional medicinals as well as a great selection of heirloom edibles/ornamentals. -
Hey guys I just got a fair quantity of these guys in the mail and realised that no matter how lofty my ambitions, it's more than I can possibly use myself. So I'm selling packs of 100x A. confusa seeds for $20 each + $5 postage. 5 packets (total 500 seeds) available. Post here and PM for payment info if you're interested. Multiple packs are OK, combine postage, first in best dressed. Not really interested in trade unless you have something truly exceptional, in which case I doubt you'd waste it on me anyway. ;) cheers -ef EDIT: 100 seeds/pack sounds more fair than 50. EDIT: 2 of 5 taken pending payment.

Tabernaemontana undulata : bechette ... Grow log.
endorfinder replied to space cadet swami's topic in Ethnobotany
Hard to post a photo without putting half the property in the frame unfortunately, that's how big she's gotten. Just under six feet at her highest branches without aid. The leaves are yellowing a bit despite decent fertilising with dynamic lifter and seasol. I wonder if this mystery bugs have anything to do with it. I checked my cutting humidity tub earlier and an unrelated gardenia cutting had also succumbed to the same nasties after being in a closed environment with the undulatas. -

Always nice and bushy, not much of a winter here. Will check out your pest ID thread but should see what PS has to say since he complains of the same thing on two other species in the genus? -

I'd be interested to know if anyone has experience growing Tab's from cuttings. I've had repeated failures with undulata cuttings in an extremely predictable way - they behave like healthy iboga cuts for a week or two, drop most of their leaves, keep up with healthy looking growth as if they're quickly taking off, then at about the 3 week mark fall apart with a weird white "fuzz" that looks like a burst of aphids or some such and quickly die. Off forum poisonshroom confirms that the same thing has happened to him with two other Tab species. I have some that have just recently turned, hopefully they're still worthy of photos in the morning. I shall also take a picture of the plant spacey left in my care, which has been in the ground for almost a year and is doing just grand. -
Hey guys, I'm after some nice healthy scelly cuts if anyone has any available (and it's a good time of the year to propagate?). Rooted is preferred but I'm happy either way. Tortuosum is preferred but any similarly active strain is fine by me. I have a wide range of seeds, plants, hugs, etc for trade. cheers! -ef

Hey guys, long time no see to most of y'all, good to see lots of new "faces" too. Always good to give a gift if returning after a hiatus. I realised I have an overabundence of microscopy specimens, these I've never even had a chance to inspect myself, so to give away: 5 "Amazonian" specimens; one winner will also get a Pan cyan print (not sure what strain exactly yet). 'tis a post # raffle, closing 3pm Friday 7th March. Just post if you're interested and I'll pick 5 winners at random. In case of double posts only the first will be counted. cheerio & good luck ! -ef
