Well seeing as I was involved in an ongoing phytochemical investigation last year into the genus Smilax including some HPLC/MS work I'd say I have access to newer information about these species than any others.

That won't last long, I'm sure your colleagues will realise what a pathetic loser you are shortly and dump you. You should know the patttern by now, it always happens like that

Though frankly given what a jerk Darklight has been around here, I can't really be bothered assisting.

Your assistance is not required. Now that you've opened your big flapping and useless mouth it will take me about three phone calls to locate the ppl undertaking the study and I'll prolly have, if not the actual data, then at least a decent grasp on the area of study to ensure we don't replicate it.

Sheesh I've found lumps of old chewie under train seats which display a far more active intelligence that you do...

I'll leave this here for an hour or so and then delete these last two posts, really but could I resist?

  2. Pregnant women should always check whether the stuff they eat/ ingest affects their unborn children (I got ticked off for this one about a week after the forums opened shroomy, it's not personal ) wink.gif and this does extend to natural products as they do produce some of the most toxic substances- but not all of course.

And bloody colchicine, that stuff is so hideously toxic my favorite tissue culture supplier won't even stock it for use by qualified adults. There are apparrantly less toxic substitutes now, but really you'd reasonably expect stuff that is meant to mess with chromosone numbers would at least be suspect for use by pregnant women and those with small kids around, all those actively dividing cells...

But as for thalidomide having a bad rep... the data on that was fudged from the start wasn't it? I reckon I'd be fairly safe in assuming that it's not the only synthetic substance manufactured and prescribed by large commercial interests whose publicly released data doesn't actively correlate with the results obtained during testing. 'Safe' by whose definition, I ask you...

  3. Are you *encouraging* them Torsten wink.gif

This thread fizzles on and off, I haven't stressed yet cos replies aren't appearing thick and fast, ppl seem to take offence in a lackadasical kinda way and then get over it. It's seeming too half hearted to be seriously offensive and the overall emphasis seems to be on the dull side.

If this thread were a movie it'd be Spartacus, or Ben Hur..... or maybe Titanic. If it were a song it would be by Celine Dion...

But Torsten is right, play nicely grrls and boys, or I'll lock the thread, and then take up residence in your lounge rooms amidst a WTC sized pile of old newspapers and noodle dishes.

  4. Aren't you? Damn I'll have to post the photos after all... when it gets done. Even next day it still looks like a damn fine idea to me...an EB tatt!

Can understand you wanting to take the photo down, it would get spooky scrolling past yourself every day I spose, and I reckon shroomy's got his wallpaper saved by now wink.gif

  5. Nah I've changed my mind, I photograph badly, I always come out looking like Picasso's Weeping Woman...the planes are all wrong.

Tell you what though, if you show up at EB2 and the tat is finished I'll show you there.

Your not the only one that drooles over other women Darklight.

Actually I'm not often given to drooling, too fussy I guess. But I did think I was the only one here ( apart from the blokes of course ). Hooray!

  6. Sheesh I haven't even started it yet wink.gif you'd inspired me, that's all so far, and my brother isn't due til the weekend so I can but dream.

But sure, you cut yerself a deal smile.gif. It goes on, I'll post it here. I have a shoulder job of a blacksnake skin patch taken from one of my collection which I want to integrate somehow. There may well be a plan...

  7. with a tattooed Angel's Trumpet or sim creeping up your leg and around your waist.

Hey I really like that idea and I've been looking for ways to integrate the my tatts... Veronica would you mind if I took that idea and developed it, or is that piracy wink.gif? My little bruv is coming up this w/e and he has some wicked tatt designs under his belt so I'm sure we'll come up with something

Hangovers? St Mary's thistle tincture. Vitamin B. Seafood bouillabaisse. Works for me smile.gif

  8. Mornin' yall

Looking for grafting material for my lophs. T scop seems to have worked for the parent, so I'd really like to find 5 or 6 T scops about 4 inches tall or so. Will pay cash or trade you a pup if you're local, or name my firstborn after you

  9. but waterdragon, my truelove, I thought...( sniff )...what about all those, those *promises*, the things you said last night...did they mean nothing after all?...Don't tell me you're throwing me over for a showy gif? What about our children???

    That's it, the wedding's off!

  10. Well alright, um, yes. Torsten you ARE a rat. I was drooling quietly in a corner and getting back to work and forgetting about it and you have to post this...

All my friends are utter bastards. Who have my best interests at heart smile.gif

  11. For P. viridis? Eh?

I don't always baulk at the cost of stuff cos there may be other variables involved which I don't know about. And if I want something that badly I'll find a way to get it at some stage, trade/ swap/ work exchange/ bribery/ asking nicely. There's enough of a network burgeoning here for ppl to work out a way around a pricetag if you can wait. If it's that important to you you need it now, then pay.

But the AFSR is one of the best thing that's happened to this scene, and I congratulate Rev on his patience and time and dedication. Support it and we'll be right, I reckon.

But it might be of interest to know I have bought at least two spp which have been misidentified there on the label. One of them was the allegedly Kaempferia galanga, which turned out not to be. The other was an alleged Voacanga, and isn't...it's not even close. I think there have been a few others but they're not alive to tell their tale. Mistakes happen, of course, in any field. But that, and the combined weight of the feedback makes me cautious.

  12. I congratulate you on yr recent singlehood matey, and hope that it is resplendent with the rich opportunity such a state can bestow ( and not just in terms of roots, and no this is *not* a proposition, unless you have the op wink.gif ) I hope it becomes a gift for you.

Sounds like you're off to a good start anyhow. Make the most of it I reckon. Ppl whinge and wail ( including me ) but there is no comparison to the state of the even reasonably well contented single state to that of the tortuous, pointless and destructive love that often monopolises a failing or unsuccessful relationship.

Even enjoyed the prose, and I'm a truly horrible snob

  13. Anyone here got any phytochem data or instances of traditional indigenous uses for Smilax australis? Also known as wait-a-while, barbed wire vine, or Australian sarsparilla vine?

I've checked Google, Canberra Botanic Gardens, the document search delivery service which covers most scientific publications, and here. Can't find a thing. Can't find my copies of Wild Food or Wild Medicine...does it have any entries there?

Was wondering if anyone had a copy of that bioprospecting data put out by CSIRO in the 1940's or 50's. If so, can you check it for me and email any references to that particular spp? It's got me stumped.

  14. Colchicine is mega toxic matey, at least according to the advice I've had from ppl in the TC field ( well, lets face it, anything that fucks with chromosones isn't likely to be too friendly and if yr planning on having any kids in the future )... There are newer, less toxic substitutes which are apparrantly equally effective around, email me and I'll hunt thru my files for their names and maybe a protocol or two if I can dig them up.

Never tried them myself, would like to one day. And lets face it if yer mucking about with pawpaw you won't exactly be short of genetic material to play with and make a mess of the first few runs as happens with most new methods ( well, for me...)

Normally you know I'd reply right away, but as the ISP's been down the weekend and I've just got back online to a zillion emails I can tell right now I'm likely to forget smile.gif

Waarkhh! I was being general, not specific. Actually I enjoyed yr allegedly highly opinionated prose and my thoughts were a follow-on, not a directed reply... I think I'll go back to shutting up and keeping my hideous opinions to myself. Sorry there cob, didn't mean to cause alarm.

simply because I have chosen, and faithfully followed, my own path.

Actually was hoping to meet you at EB2 and discuss some of the stuff you seem to know on EB and body building, I have a feeling one or two of my crew may be interested

Self discovery is the essence of a lot of things. Aspects of art, science and literature feature self discovery as a part of the process. Why the recent fad for a predigested magikal renaissance should claim self knowledge as its sole preserve is a total mystery. Why so many ppl believe it is another

Magic has become like an alternative viagra for the impotent soul of the modern searcher.

And aren't we all bored with the latest crop of ppl who are *terribly* powerful in those other, higher, invisible dimensions while remaining completely ineffective and useless in consensus reality?

If I never meet another person who claims to be able to fully understand and manipulate great levels of psychic energy because of their superior understanding of a secret level of power only available to themselves etc it will be a happier future I envisage.

Sheesh, no wonder I'm a redneck.
