Gunter Posted November 3, 2005 From a 60's reprint of the 1937 publication of a second edition of The Cactaceae (Volume II) by N. L. Britton and J. N. Rose. The first edition was published in 1920.
zee_werp Posted November 3, 2005 Cheers for that! Very interesting. Always good to get more material like that. One question though, why does it jump from p. 130 to p. 134...irrelevant info in between? Thanks again for taking the time to scan that in for us and post it! Gunter Posted November 3, 2005 The missing information contains the species descriptions for the members of the key preceding and following the ones I chose to emphasize.
M S Smith Posted November 4, 2005 I have to 4 volume set in two book which I got cheap from a used online bookstore. Mine are in very nice condition and are an old library set. It probably wouldn't be much for me to scan the whole Trichocereus section to post if Archaea doesn't have the it all, but I suspect he does. I also have Backeberg'c Cactus Lexicon that I might be able to do the same with. I'm dying for Ritter's work, and if I remember correctly someone here is working on a translation of the German. I would love to here from this someone about acquiring it. Also, I desperately want the full Trichocereus section from Backeberg's Die Cactaceae. Trout was kind enough to send me photo copies of "some photos of potential interests," but it doesn't have the whole section. Die Cactaceae has a nice amount of photos (b&w), while Cactus Lexicon has but four; T. grandiflorus, T. lamprochlorus, T. rubinghianus, and T. smrzianus, none of which are in color, even though there are plenty of color photos of other taxa. ~Michael~
faslimy Posted November 4, 2005 I'm so pissed I missed an opportunity to get a copy of Backebergs Cactus Lexicon in a local online auction recently. Anyone knows a place to get these books don't hesitate to mention...
