whiterasta Posted March 30, 2006 The spination on the Tarma type is very similar to this cactus I just got. It is a confusing ID with tricho and Stetsonia properties. WR
Osprey Posted March 30, 2006 I have seedlings of#427 from LHudson seed that look identical to yours.I don't remember anything about tarma mentioned in the description(probably didn't notice) I also got some Tarma seed (It just said T.Peru Tarma)from the same vender a year before, and as you can see, they are the fat macgronus type. They are really beautiful, and I want to cut them and propigate more
M S Smith Posted March 30, 2006 I had never seen "Tarma" associated with the 427 until this post. Trout certainly hasn't put them together either. Osprey, your "Tarma" are what I expect of my T. peruvianus from Tarma, Peru, that I got from Mesa Garden and recently sowed. Whiterasta, I think your plants are Stetsonia, and I doubt they are a Trichocereus. Blackdragon, I realize the antipathy to repeating, but I don't think it unnecessary or useless. I would love some pictures if you have any to offer. Archaea, I appreciate the apology, and will provide you something in return come slightly better weather if you think I owe you. Just let me know. This whole situation leaves me with a very bad taste in my mouth though. It makes me want to become a hermit. ~Michael~
M S Smith Posted March 30, 2006 Osprey, your plants look a whole lot like my T. pachanoi "North Peru," a plant whose origins I suspect are from Knize and which I doubt comes from anywhere but central Peru. ~Michael~

Pisgah Posted March 31, 2006 Hmmm... A forest of glaucous, spiny questions. This is still more fun than other things I could be doing right now. And I have lots to do.
