Guest Mexicali Posted March 23, 2006 Here's something you don't see every day: It's been on a graft for around 12 years and the growth point was damaged. But I could see that it was still growing at the ribs, getting fatter and fatter....I put it up for sale at $35 and no-one wanted it, so I decided to look after it...the result is a monstrose Astrophytum Asterias that grows its flowers BETWEEN the ribs (not from the Areoles) and develops cristate flowers! Unfortunately, the skin cracked a couple weeks ago, because its energy was pushing out at the ribs. Wound healed and he STILL keeps growing! This is the first cristate FLOWER I have seen... my Lopho Crest doesn't even do that...juust keeps growing like a snake.
