preserving shrooms with port?

Many moons ago a mate of mine would preserve his winter harvest by dropping about a dozen gold tops into a bottle of port, and then cork it - the idea being it would be consumed during the off season. Never found out if the potency was preserved. does anyone know if this method works?

a gnomes done this w/vodka, & wine. both worked.

however neither were stored for that long, so no idea about deteriation over time.

A foaf has tried preservation in wine (in the dark, with added antioxidant) and has found that it is not much chop after about 3 months. Roughly the same effectiveness as freezing.

Just so happens i was checking out Trouts notes on simple tryptamines

(Highly recommended reading if you like tryptamines, TLC, spot tests and bioprospecting)

its available from the SAB webstore

It seems that ascorbic acid (Vit C)prevents

oxidation of psilocin at room temp quite well.

Psilocybin is mush more stable but an excess of ascorbic acid might shield it too
