Now, if I'm right, I ought to take some pics of the trichos before the latest round of LEDs arrive ..

and then, over time, better rate the lighting system, especially if it takes ages to afford the ones I'd been planning for ..

(hans panels - which in the meantime also got cheaper/better)

So I tested some cheapo 6000k floodlights; 4 x 15watters, and a 30watter.

The 30w burnt my rainforest but a 15w and 2 x 15w ip68 aquarium led light bars are enjoyed well...

Our cacties seemed to like the 30w somewhat but our mangroves seem to adore it.

So the 30watter and a 15w are officially commandeered by mangrovia.. and the RainForestBox needs a good downsize/upgrade to: just one light to rule them all..

-a 20w perple ip68 me thinketh...

But this thread will focus particularly on LEDs being used for cactus growing as the main topic.

I found some LED UFO thing that seems to have dropped in price by about 60 quid.... so in desperation to keep the family Tricho collection healthy and well, I decided to grab 2 and see if they'll do the trich.

- Luckily last april I managed to rescue them from zero light in a pokey appartment with lame and pure artificial light, until a house move; where they bagged the biggest south facing window until something better could suffice,... but still didn't grow that much..

So I'm basically gna be boosting their medium and their ray exposure and with any luck some might even flower - or at least start thinking about it.. :D

I never owned a purple plantgro light in my life yet nor a hanging fixture so it's time to give them a try and learn ...

...Any tips on hanging lights from a ceiling or from brackets would be much appreciated if poss, I have zero experience in that field

and could use all the help I can get hanging them above the trichos - in a way that they can be raised and lowered probably..

I'll see if I can dig out some latest trichollection pics too..

UFO's landed ,... and hung temporarily in a makeshift way for now until I can get a drill and find the ceiling joists to fix a loop-hook screw type thing...

All systems activated , 'cept for the wallet now for a bit I guess...

Likewise in your cactory too Rivers mate :)

thanks , it is pretty trippy and pink ... like a gta vice city sunset ..

one of my pach's started tip growth pretty quickly over the last few days since adding the LEDs...

2017-02-13 11.18.13.jpg

the Eileen seems to have woken today too

2017-02-13 11.20.17.jpg

the days are getting longer with seasonal drift, so therefore the natural sunshine levels are higher though...

but I still kinda think it's the LED's responsible for waking the pach up... ,

the other tips had already woken since the 'fake rainy start to the season' that I gave them prior to the addition of LED pinkness..
