Removing grafted specimens

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

Recently got some Pereskiopsis spathulata and I have been looking at doing some grafts later down the track...

I am curious how you can remove the graft once it gets a little big for the stem, if it's even doable? or do people just leave them on and support them with stuff underneath etc?

Cheers

The root stock eventually dies so it won't be permanent. Cut it off and let it dry and then root!!! I saw a cool tek by an american sab member that wrapped the base of the scion in Hessian etc to force roots prior to removing from root stock.... hook ahead maybe..???? Anyway plenty of ways to do this. I am an amateur tho

when you do the degraft, just make sure you remove all the pereskiopsis from the scion otherwise it can rot eventually
