planthelper Posted March 1, 2013 (edited) hi! those two plants are up for auction, i will not seperate. the more people probagate this plant the better. the reserve is 50aud, postage express 14aud, if the bid exceeds 64aud, i pay for postage. the red nl is the result of a couple years work, it's mother was a ph and it's father, probably via open pollination, a red. this plant and another one (ph red, not released yet), were optained by growing a few hundred seedlings, and selecting, just the two. i gave many of those seeds, from which those selections originated away, so there are probably others like those, around already. because i bred them i choose the name, so if you have a similar plant, now you know it's name. the plants pictured, suffered from a red mite infestation a while ago, (note the slightly distorted leaves) but this is no issue with catha edulis, and easely overcome by a catha. all i should have done, is wiping them off between the finger and thumb. mite don't realy like catha, and there were only a few to be seen. i have never sprayed a catha, nor lost any to any pest! this would suit a serious probagator. auction ends in 3 day's time, 8 p.m. nsw time! direct bank deposit only. here a pic of the two plants up for auction: and here a pic of the mother plant showing the narrow and red veined leaves and the red caramel tips. it's probably a world first! plants are in 75mm diametre pot's and ready for repotting, the bigger one is 32cm tall, the other 20cm. endorfinder Posted March 3, 2013 (edited) $100 and the understanding that the first four cuts struck will go to established propagators in the community.I want this purely for propagation of this unique strain. edit: just clarifying, this is two plants of the red nl strain only, correct, you are holding on to ph red for the moment? planthelper Posted March 5, 2013 $100 and the understanding that the first four cuts struck will go to established propagators in the community. I want this purely for propagation of this unique strain. edit: just clarifying, this is two plants of the red nl strain only, correct, you are holding on to ph red for the moment? yes, two plants which are identical. the ph red, only excist yet as the original seedling, i took once a few cuttings of it, but messed them up, so i got nothing available. it's almost too cold already outdoors to strike catha, anyway i will take cuttings tomorrow, and use additional heat. endorfinder Posted March 5, 2013 I have a thermostat and heat mat ready to go to construct an incubator for iboga seed(ling)s. Is it worth using that for catha cuttings as well? Still only occasionally dipping below 30° during the day here. Mate/member who I split that iboga seed pod with reported yesterday that one had germinated just sitting on his desk in sphagnum indoors!
planthelper Posted March 5, 2013 yeah, use bottom heat, aswell for the catha.
