grafting to unrooted peres

Recommended Posts

hey just wondering if its a bad idea to graft to peres before it roots ?

anyone ever tried it before ??

im assuming it would probly work but might be a bit slow growing

to begin with

i've got alot of grafting to do and dont want to have to wait a few weeks for my peres to root

let me know :)

I guess it depends on how confident you are that your cuts will root in 2 weeks.

If your unlucky and they choose not to root for ages the scoin may shrivell.

i've done it before, but only sloppy like

had to remove 3 trich seedling tips that had grown through the wire, so turned around, made a wedge graft onto 3 fresh pere cuttings and stuck them in a pot. All 3 worked out.

So I am going to say yes. I infact have a theory it might even be better as u don't have to worry about the pere pumping too much juice and pushing the graft off. Just a theory though.

P.S. Yeah, I should add that this was under 18/6 HPS lighting.

ahh ok good point thats a bit of a worry

all the peres i've had so far has rooted with 1 - 2 weeks i kinda just assumed it would

i didnt realise it could take longer

hhmm ok now im not sure if i should try haha damn

yeah the light would probly be helpful naja

i really wanna get a small light for seedlings and stuff

i dont really know what to look for though

maybe i'll just try graft a couple and see wat happens :)

in general it works

but with pere it is always difficult. I dont like it as a stock so much, selinicereus is so much better

no glochids, fatter surfaces to graft to, lots of sticky substance when cut to glue the scion

and you can graft to it unrooted and with no pressure too!

Pereskiopsis are overestimated

but they do root super fast
