Scott Posted May 1, 2002 I know in Australia it's not really the time to welcome spring, but any excuse for a party's a good one!
Gwydion Posted May 6, 2002 Well, it being Australia here, an' all, it's not REALLY Beltane. Beltane is a seasonal festival marking the beginning of summer. We're closer to winter, so it would be more appropriate to celebrate Samhain. To celebrate Beltane at this time of year is the equivalent of putting on a great big coat and mittens and going outside with a sled over your shoulder at the height of an Aussie summer. Actually, I celebrated Nos Gaeaf ("The Night of Winter"), and the new year, a couple of weeks ago, in accordance with the lunar calendar. Nos Gaeaf dda! Iaccitos dagos te, bleidoni nouia!
