snapdragon Posted March 23, 2011 Can anyone advise me what might be wrong with these? The tips of the big leaves have dried out and the new leaves are kind of scrunched up looking and have some little holes and scabs on them. I've tried putting pyrethrum on them in the past but it didn't seem to have any effect. Neither plant has grown for ages. They were outdoors in a shady spot with some Albas which are all doing fine. CβL Posted March 23, 2011 (edited) I cannot say for sure (or anywhere further than mere speculation for that matter), but I do know I have seen a similar thing occur on citrus trees, and AFAIK - was caused by a virus of some kind. Edit: Just did some searching, and also various insects and insufficient water can also cause that type of curling. So how much are you watering the plant? planthelper Posted March 23, 2011 my guess is either, underwaterd for an extended periode of time, or overwatered and the roots are rotting a bit. i would take the plant out of it's pot and have a look at the roots and the pottingmix, as this would help you to diagnose what is going on. the fact that you say, "hasn't grown in ages" point's though rater to under watering and under nourishing, and not enough air moisture. use the mister, keep moisture up without over watering, if it get's worse, put a plastic bottle over the plant (bottom cut off) to give it 100% moisture. after it recovered, harden the plant out again. you should aswell take a leaf cutting, so you got a back up plant. snapdragon Posted March 24, 2011 Thanks for the advice. I think I've probably under-watered them...
