ogion Posted April 6, 2005 Hey all, can somebody please explain the difference between a Peony Poppy and a Papaver Somniferum ? Do Peonys have as much alkaloids as P.Somniferum, if any at all ? I have seen the more common pink ones in nice cottage garden arrangements at old peoples houses.
Pisgah Posted April 6, 2005 Peony Poppy = Papaver somniferum var. peoniflorum Some people describe them as a separate species, but to my knowledge that is incorrect.
waterdragon Posted April 9, 2005 many people report strong effects from varieties other than peonies. poppies.org would have info on the stronger types.
