Free Catha Edulis (Khat) Plants - London UK

Recommended Posts

I have a few small Catha Edulis (Khat) pot plants in London, United Kingdom, that I am willing to give away, as am emigrating.

Catha Edulis is legal in the UK. Plants had been purchased in U.K for curiosity value.

Had been purchased from two different sources, so have two distinct difference types. One type has more upright growth, with longer internodes, and has little red colouration, even on young leaves. The second type is much bushier, with short internodes, and more distinct red colouration to young leaves and branches.

These plants are about two years old. Last year during frosts most leaves dropped and I was worried they would die, but they bounced back in the spring. Even so I would recommend over-wintering them in a mild spot, perhaps a conservatory or very sheltered outdoor spot. I had tried keeping one indoors, but it dropped leaves and died, perhaps as the soil dried more than normal. Other than finding them best outdoors, I found them easy to care for and trouble free.

Plants are in pretty good condition, if a little unruly, as I haven’t had time to care for them. They have lots of little sucker growths, so great if you want to take clone cuttings!

Plants given with pots and soil. Pots are actually from autopot system. System can be included including tank. If you want it, bring a pack of beers for me (the plants should be worth that anyway!)

Can also include remainder of fertilizer and potting mix used, so you know you have what they’ve been growing ok in.

I have four plants in total, two of each type. I would like to give them all to the lucky first person, to minimise the arrangements for pickup. I am limited on time.

Conditions

1) First come first served. Once they are gone they are gone. Please post in this thread registering interest to make it clear who’s first, and contact me with a PM.

2) Must be willing to pickup from central London (Chelsea, SW3) probably one evening, in the next week or so. Might be able to arrabnge time in a weekend. You will be expected to pickup them up as per arranged day and time. I don’t have time for repeat arrangements.

3) Plants given in good faith. I can’t guarantee they will live once you’ve taken them!! Its damn cold outside, and while they are healthy at the moment, they would benefit from a more sheltered position than they are in. Photos taken this morning.

Cheers!

Hi Planthelper!

Thanks for the kind words!

Yep, managed to keep them alive last winter. My place is about forth floor up, so perhaps the slight elevation managed to keep them up out of the coldest winter air.

I sure hope I can find a home for the plants.

All the best.

Hi UMMM, mutant

Many thanks for your interest but these went just before Christmas. Appologies for my delayed reply, since that time I have emmigrated from UK so have been offline. Unfortunately a member here didn't get them, but I found a good home for them just in the nick of time.

All the best

Coda
