alkatrope Posted June 14, 2009 Nice work, some great shots in there What's with the noise though? Are you shooting at a high ISO or is it the quality of the jpg?
Stinkmeat Posted June 14, 2009 Well, I think I might have accidentally had a high iso for a couple. I initially had no idea what it did, lol. Plus I reduced the quality to get them on here easier. I'll see if I can make them a bit clearer next upload.
Stinkmeat Posted June 14, 2009 (edited) Here's a few more from a recent camping trip. These have less noise than the first post. Stink Edited June 14, 2009 by Stinkmeat
Stinkmeat Posted June 14, 2009 (edited) These are taken in a local reservation area. I've got no idea what most of them are, but they look cool. Edited June 14, 2009 by Stinkmeat

Stinkmeat Posted August 27, 2009 Nice man, what kinda SLR is it. ? Thanks mate, it's a Canon EOS 450D if that means anything. It sure doesn't to me haha. I just got one that seemed to be alright for my price range
blip Posted August 27, 2009 Woah! Nice work You have officially inspired me to start looking at DSLR cameras again It's going to be hard going back to my 2MP monster of a camera phone now
RonnySimulacrum Posted August 28, 2009 Very nice pics, can not wait to see some more Looks like taking plant pics is in, cool, bring it on
B. Loco Posted August 28, 2009 I really love all of your shots, man. Nice work, and very inspiring. The glowsticks open shutter shot is very cool ! May I ask (everyone) what determines a camera to be DSLR, is it to do with the way light enters the lens and is method in which it's translated to exposure ? I have a 4 year old digital camera that has the body of an old school SLR, manual shoot settings, 10x optical zoom and facilities to screw on filters and other lenses, so it's not a 'pocket camera' but I don't think it's considered DSLR. Stinkmeat Posted August 29, 2009 (edited) Thanks for the replies everyone I had been waiting for some more feedback, so it's good to see people like them. I'll try to find some more of my favourites to put up soon. B. Loco - I've got no idea what makes an SLR an SLR. Like I said above I just bought one that seemed to be good for my price range I did find this on wiki which seems to explain the mechanisms of an SLR Edit: Link Edited August 29, 2009 by Stinkmeat

SLR essentially means that you see the same image as the sensor, so what you are looking at in the viewfinder is the light coming through the lens and reflecting up to your eye via a mirror. When you shoot, the mirror quickly flips down and reflects the light onto the sensor. Compare that to a non-SLR, where the hole you look through is separate to the lens. The fact that you mention 10x optical zoom suggests it is not SLR, as SLR have detachable lenses and the zoom is measured in mm. There are other differences, of course, but these are the main ones I suppose and the ones that are most obvious.
Aya Posted August 30, 2009 Some lovely shots Stinkmeat. Have you just been using the one lens that came stock with the 450D for all these shots?

Stinkmeat Posted August 31, 2009 Some lovely shots Stinkmeat. Have you just been using the one lens that came stock with the 450D for all these shots? Yeah it's the stock lens. Well I got a second lens as well, but they are pretty much the same. Just different focal lengths. One is 18 - 55mm, the other is 55 - 250mm.
