Hi Rev !

We talked about P.somniferum seeds some time ago. I was asking about chinensis, and you mentioned some subspecie that I now can't remember. Well, anyway, Im interested in those O-containing ones, so let me know what you have, since Im not so well informed when it comes to subspecies of P.somnia. I'll be glad to buy a few seed. smile.gif On next fall I can donate some D.stramonium and H.niger, if those ones are wanted...at the moment have only a few seed, but will make them grow and give birth to youngsters. wink.gif

With Regards,

Tero,

a reneissance man

I dont think they like me at AQIS anymore wink.gif

I think ill have to add in a spiel for international guests on the danger to e of sending prohibited species - particularly those on the customs prohibited list.

We have most here already anyway.

I think the poppy i was not sure about is P glaucum - the one being sold by Alchemy-works as the white-cloud poppy

On ICON P glaucum is not a listed synonym of P somniferum and they state that all other Papaver species are OK except this and um...

what was it ? P bracteatum thats it.

I cant be sure what the seed is. P rhoeas seed looks very very much like P somniferum and a lot of other poppies

Import case details - public listing

The information here covers AQIS quarantine requirements only and is current

on the date of transmission but may change without notice. Importers must

satisfy quarantine concerns and comply with quarantine conditions applicable at

the time of entry. The Commonwealth through AQIS is not liable for any costs

arising from or associated with decisions to import based on conditions

presented here which are not current at time of importation.

It is the importer’s responsibility to be aware of and to ensure compliance with

the requirements of all other regulatory and advisory bodies prior to and after

importation. eg. Australian Customs Service , State Departments of Agriculture,

Imported Foods Program, Therapeutic Goods Administration , National

Registration Authority for Agricultural and Veterinary Chemicals .

Condition C7181

Non-commercial consignments of seed of this species may be permitted

entry into Australia subject to inspection on arrival. Seed must be free from soil,

live insects, plant material (eg fruit pulp, leaf or stem material, etc), contamination

with prohibited seeds and packed in new containers that are clearly labelled with

the botanical name.

Packets of mixed seed are not permitted entry as non-commercial consignments

due to the difficulties of inspecting them for contaminants.

Research i have seen found that the only two papavers with morphine were P somniferum and P setigerum , which occurs wild in NSW according to Tim low.

Hi Rev

What does setigerum look like?

I have seeds for a small purple poppy

that I have only seen growing wild around here. They look the same as p.somniferum except they are only about 18 inches tall.

I,d post a pic but I dont have a digi camera.
