  1. Quite a limited amount of substances they were screening for there, and no mention of whether the children were vaccinated or not. Obviously mercury (thiomersal) being one of the most toxic substances known to man doesn't help with autism, particularly in boys, as testosterone actually potentises the effects of mercury on the human being (hence autism occurs more often in males); testosterone levels being very high in the young.

It's been a very long time since any vaccines contained mercury.

  2. Fertilised my v. africana & p. viridis (with stowaway self-sown cherry tomato)! Relieved they seem to be flourishing finally after nearly losing the v. africana earlier on:

Also fertilised my custard apple seedling which is going great guns:

I don't know what the pretty blue flower is next to it, just self-sown.

And most importantly, repotted a couple of lophs into terra cotta after being in plastic pots for a while. As you can see from the second one, the water from the soil is seeping into the terra cotta so they can dry out a bit. My lophs seem to have grown heaps this season.

Unfortunately lost a few plants recently as well (khat, caapis).

Thinking about starting a frog pond.

I saw a giant golden-coloured furry bee in my garden which looked like one of these: http://www.aussiebee.com.au/xylocopa.html

It buzzed really loud and I'm pretty sure it was a male golden carpenter bee. Another image which looks like him:

Also rapt to see 4 new flower buds on my cereus cactus! Hopefully will get some fruit off it this time.

  3. Hey guys,

I realise that because of my (over?) zealous pursuit of publicising bad experiences in the free trade thread (Seed & Plant Exchange), the thread has now been locked (same deal for the international "high-end serial trading thread").

I want to apologise for this unintended consequence because I know a lot of us enjoyed that thread.

I got frustrated with the problems that were had in it. Sorry, I know that losing the thread probably pissed off a lot of people. When I saw that it had been locked I even felt disappointed. But I guess it's how things have to be for now. Hopefully we can find the right balance.

At first I did feel really shit about losing the thread, but as time passes I'm liking the Seed & Plant Exchange forum more and more. Maybe it will be a better forum for this, maybe not. What do other members think about not having it there anymore? Does it suck, or is it working for you?

I kind of like that all the threads in there now are more targeted, pop up and disappear more quickly, and their trades can be conducted exclusively via pm if desired for privacy reasons.

    What do you guys think?

  4. Oh yeah, sorry for the dodgy link. I only used it for the image & didn't see the incorrect name! I was lucky in that somebody gave me my chilli plant as they had heaps of them! They are really tough and fruit like crazy. Delicious flavour as well.

  5. Thanks for your apology, Matt1208. I just don't want our free trade thread or our forum becoming an empty shell. If people get away with doing what you did it just ruins the site for everyone else. Only promise things you can actually send, and then you will be able to keep your promises. Those native frangipani seeds sound great. Don't worry, you will build a good reputation. It just takes time, patience, and a bit of hard work. Everyone on this forum started from nothing and had to slowly build themselves up by being consistent with other members. There are no shortcuts to doing this.

If there's one thing that plants have taught me, it's that good things take a lot of time and hard work to earn, and that hard work and patience really pays off, a bit like growing lophophora. Thanks for admitting your mistake, and in future please only promise what you can deliver. It's ok to offer basic stuff, there are always people on here after lots of different things.

Being honest doesn't always bring rewards quickly, but it will add up to help you more than lies in the long run.

I hope we can move onto better things in the future.

  6. Because I saw you not following through on trades and then attempting to obscure the negative feedback about it afterwards. In this thread, you can see the problem of people being too polite to post negative feedback about others, and then others getting screwed in the future because of this.

And this is where you said you "got everything as expected" from flappybird, as Matt1208.

  7. like I said to doublebenno I was sorry that some of the seeds weren't there, I offered seeds in place of them and it is only fair that he didn't want them, what I don't like however is some guy I have never traded with nor even spoken to is posting in the reputations forum about the matter? if doublebenno had posted there it would have been fine but the fact that its someone that had nothing to do with the trade nor the offer, and is now throwing accusations against me and my friend with the only evidence has has is the fact floppybird is offering seeds I gave him, and is now giving us both a bad name and reputation based on his own assumptions.

So you gave flappybird the seeds? because in the trade rep forum you said you got seeds FROM flappybird. You haven't been very smart about this.

  8. Hey dude im not sure how to take that reneged as well comment but it kinda seems negative, so I'll explain a little on my side. I pulled my post heatedly because I was disappointed in the way it went for me. I wouldnt have done so had any member accepted my offer prior to me pulling it.
Im new here and in fact never been on any forum before this one. Im getting a bit fed up with trades and cash sales not going well for me and im kinda starting to think its cause im a newb. Of course majority of people I deal with are great..

This situation is at the top of a pile that has left me pretty much not interested in online trading anymore...
However if it is frowned upon (my own ..... reneg) I am more than willing to put my offer back on the table, as I do not want any negativity assosiated with my beautiful unicorn avatar.
    DB

I'm sorry it does sound negative but actually I wish more people did what you did (pulling your offer because you weren't given what was advertised). It would have been good if you could have posted about your negative experience in the trade rep forum so that other members could be warned about Matt1208 / flappybird as well.

I agree that you shouldn't have to trade if you didn't receive what was promised, but if somebody after you had already accepted your offer you would be screwing them the same way you were screwed. But there wasn't anyone else yet, so it was probably a good way to respond.

Sorry I spoke harshly. It was good that you stood up for yourself in the trade.

  9. Big coincidence how this user was created right after I posted my matt1208 trade rep thread. Both users initially located in Dubbo (now changed to NSW), and both users offering native frangipani seeds. Also giving each other positive feedback in trade rep forum. Pretty obvious.

  10. The pic has been updated and the posts can now be read.

I'm publicly displaying his PMs because he is harassing me for posting legitimate feedback in the trade rep forum. He has now created a new account, flappybird, to start over without this negative rep. Just doing my bit to keep the forums honest.

  11. Interesting, sounds a lot like flappybird's (also in Dubbo) offer here: http://www.shaman-australis.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=37559

And you have been giving flappybird some good feedback today! http://www.shaman-australis.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=37557

Two newly-joined members, both from Dubbo, offering the same items for trade, and giving each other positive feedback! Must be the same person. Get your trading rep up legitimately. Everyone can see what you're doing, mate.

  12. My reply to Matt1208 was as follows:

"The image shows that it is correct. You failed to reserve your seeds offered in the free trade thread. It had only been 10 days. Mistakes happen, but you have no basis to argue that you weren't in the wrong. Being so new to the forum you need to take care not to get bad rep. That is why the trade rep forum is there. You will need to work on building up some good rep now, and don't make any more mistakes like this in the future."
