correct level to fill soil on bare rooted p.viridis
woof woof woof replied to gneumatics's topic in Ethnobotany
psychotria is a very forgiving plant. even if you bury it completely,..new growth will pop up from underneath the soil (if it isnt to deep) If you dont bury it enough,... new roots will form where it meets the ground. One thing to keep in m ind with psychotria is to keep them in a humid environment to keep them happy. -
what is/are the active chemicals in Leonotis nepetifolia ?
woof woof woof replied to Sacrelegion's topic in Ethnobotany
burned some leonotis nepetifolia incence and I can say that it is an interesting meditative state brought on. Further meditation on this frequency has to be done. Maybe burn 2 incence sticks in the future or make a more powerful xtract. the smell was a little aromatic...... but not strong enough. -
no fresh water here............ only salt water fishing (carib) ..... I love fishing allot. Last time I went out / 2 weeks ago/ .....a decent size wahoo. (yummm) We usually only go for the pelagics.

I once many years ago had T Glaucus orderd from K. Knize directly from him in Peru. And I must say that what I had looked different from the pics. Karel Knize has the terribile habit for mislabeling things, so that can be 1 reason for me to have it wrong, but from personal experience from seeing pics over the years I'd be leaning more towards Cuzco type. The cacti labled T Glaucus that I had from KK had less dense spinniation,... and the lenght between spines allong the ribs was further appart.

cristate Lophophora williamsii echinata
woof woof woof replied to trucha's topic in Cacti & Succulents
gravelly soil & slopes are plentiful here..... it's only the 3 or 4 days of rain without much sun that worries me the most. Only one way to find out! and yes,... weather events choke my chicken too! ;-) -
Leucophyllum frutescens love those bushes......... everytime it rains they wow!!!! So maybe LW could have some sort of life here in the wild. =)

Trucha,... are you maybe confusing 'the little ice age" with "the year without a summer" Little Ice Age; It is conventionally defined as a period extending from the 16th to the 19th centuries,[3][4][5] though climatologists and historians working with local records no longer expect to agree on either the start or end dates of this period, which varied according to local conditions. NASA defines the term as a cold period between 1550 AD and 1850 AD and notes three particularly cold intervals: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Little_Ice_Age#Climate_patterns Year without a summer; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Year_Without_a_Summer Or did you mean freak weather events in the 1800's? The reason's I'm interested; never thought to look deeper into hurricane events on the island I live on. 1877 - 1886 - 1892 were if I remember correctly La nina years.... and those were the only years the island got hit with hurricanes. Never got one withing 70 kilometers after that. The other reason I'm interested is that I am hoping that LW can grow here in the wild. Average rainfall is 553 mm and the yearround temp is between 32C and 25C. We have years that we can reach up to 1000 mm of rain,..,... the LW's didnt like that,.... but not all died,.... so that is what i'm betting on. -
and that is xactly what I did today......made 7 more peresk grafts of various cacti...... I will have pics soon when my laptop has been fixed.

Man-made noise disrupts the growth of plants and trees
woof woof woof replied to botanika's topic in News & Notices
