  1. Thanks for all the advice.

Here is an update on what I did. I purchased some courtii seed from eBay.

The seeds were placed in a cup, with a quarter of a teaspoon of smoke granules, and just boiled water was poured into the cup. This was then left overnight.

The seeds appeared to swell up so I put them in some soil that I had lying around and placed them on a windowsill in my room. In this spot they get warm filtered sunlight for most of the day (melbourne region).

So that was three weeks ago, and nothing as germinated yet. Should I be worried, or do they normally take this long to germinate?

    Thanks in advance.

  2. I have recently received a few A. courtii seeds and I want to maximise the germination rates (as i don't have many).

I was going to use the boiling water method (pour boiling water over the seeds in a mug, and let sit overnight before planting) that appears to be applied to numerous Acacias species.

But I was wondering if anyone that has had success on germinating courtii, had any tips that were directly relevant to this species that they would be willing to share? i.e smoke water treatment (I have a pack of smoke treatment available if need be).

Cheers in advance for the advice.

  3. Hi there endofinder,

I can't PM because it keeps coming up with an error saying you cannot received any more messages.

I was reading that Viridis does not do too well in the colder climates, such as Melbourne. Do you think Viridis would grow indoors in a sunny room in Melbourne?

I would really like to give the leaf cuttings a go, and would really appreciate it i could get one, if you still have some left?

But if you think that the conditions wouldn't work, then I don't want to waste your leaf cuttings and time.

    Cheers,

  4. Hi guys,

I am looking for a native psychotria (such as loniceroides) plant, so that I can have a go at grafting etc. If anyone has a spare lying around or is able to take a cutting for me that would be much appreciated.

I dont have any coin, but I have things like seeds to trade.

    Cheers,

    P

  5. I would love to have a go at grafting - but alas i have no plants to try it on - mine died over winter when i had to move house :(

Id love to get this growing again. if anyone is willing to share some cuttings i will have a go once they are established

  6. Hi guys,

I was just wondering if anyone has experimented with any grafting of psycotria species. I am manly interested in grafting of species like viridis or cath to any of the native species in an attempt to overcome some of the slow growth due to envirmental condition etc.

  7. Hi there everyone,

does anyone know of a relaxed doctor in melbourne? I want to get a prescription to modafinil, as i often fall asleep at work etc. My doctor didn't really believe me and didn't give me anything, i feel that the uni ones are just trying to get the bulk bills pushed through! Although i have now been referred to the alfred hospital to do sleep tests. What i am worried about is that the tests will not be covered under medicare and that I will not be able to afford them, as I have heard from a few sources that it can be around $400. I am currently studying full time and working part time and don't have much money to splash around. I have tried using modafinil before and it really helped me stay alert during work.

So basically does anyone know of a doctor that is a bit more accommodating?

    any hints/advice is greatly appreciated.

    P
