What has happened to this forum lately, there seems to be so much bad feeling going on. where is filled forum that i joined? Or was it that never read the bad stuff before? as for mex i never met the guy face to face, like i have never met anyone else in the forum face to face. I did trade with him through here and ebay and didn't have any problems with him. I hope i haven't pissed off anyone with this post, it wasn't my intention. I just feel that this bad blood is damaging this forum, And i don't want that. I love this forum. I love reading about other peoples experiences and seeing how other peoples gardens grow. I look over the pages almost every day looking for new posts and taking in all there is. So please take a deep breath and

perigord truffles is a farm in tasmania that grows black truffle inoculated trees. It would be nice to grow them. They harvested 50kg of truffles this year.

So today I had a good find. The local council boys have chpped down several poplar trees. And to make make it even better they chopped up some logs from 10cm to 20cm wide and 1.5m or so long. I helped myself to a boot full of logs So would most wood loving fungus find these logs tasty? i'm in the initial stages of growing elm oyster spawn, (thanks Rev), So hopefully i'll get some of this onto the logs. i'm also wondering how do make inoculated dowels/rope? is it just a matter of mixing the rope or dowels in with some grian spawn and waiting?

don't worry your order will turn up.

Excellent tasty poplar wood. I went back to the spot today and got talking to one of the guys there and he said take as much wood as you like, less work for us. so i'll have food for my mushies and when it dries wood for the fire. I'm going to trial both dowels and sisal rope plugs in the logs. I'm going to borow a mates eletric planer and make some chips for spawn bags. and Rev thats the first time i've herd anyone say that black truffels are common!

A person I herd of had a small amount of shrooms on several beers. A few hours later as he was outside a pub his legs gave from underneath him and he appeared to go unconciouss (sp), he was placed in the recovery position for a while. when he came round he was very dissoreintated. He collapsed again as he was being moved and was placed in the recovery position. He was groggy afterwards and to be on the safe side he was sent to the hospital in the back of an ambulance. THe reasoning behind him loosing muscle control and conciuness were given as a BIG drop in blood pressure and a high BAC, (0.24). The thing was he hadn't drunk *that* much alcohol, and the amount shrooms wasn't a big dose. His gf will not allow him near the shrooms now

are they edible? I read somewhere that some species of giant puffballs the young ones can be eaten.

I'm very new to this type of thing, which type of cacti
DuG replied to stonewolf's topic in Cacti & Succulents
stonewolf a warning, growing cacti is adictive, you start off with one, then ne3xt thing you know you are after every species and strain brisvagas should be a great place to grow, just watch out for rot. another place is SAB They have heaps of stuff you might find interesting -
Hi charliewired, sounds like you have a nice collection going there. Any chance of photos? I love pictures

So does this mean that my T. roseii is not actually T. roseii at all? but a pachanoi or Peruvianus. you learn something new every day.

I agree with ballzac. I have seen patches have dried out stopping the mushrroms from maturing, leaving them bell shaped, while others in the same patch that did not dry out continued to grow as normal. Also the colour of the caps in the photo is very golden sugessting they have dried out. But subs do vary a lot so genectics may play some role. I have found in areas where subs grow next to gum trees they grow in greater numbers the closer you get to the tree.

I've only ever come across T. roseii once at a good nursery. Never seen it before or since. I did buy it though and she's growing strong. I haven't looked for any info on roseii. So all i know about it is what the label said "grows to 2m high with white flowers, new branches form at base" But she isn't big enough to carve up.... hope you find some

I only just found this thread, wow. I may have found some other species of psyb. in my searches. Although i have had my fair share of hunting i haven't had any experince with detailed identification. What do i look for to tell the different species strains apart? i take it that growing on dung is one difference, but what are means of field identification can i use?

easy there SaBReT00tH, i've had some very good dealings with mex. And i don't think this is the right place to vent your frustration. seeing all these lovely lophs is great. I just want to grow more of them now.

The season has slowed in tassie too. The biggest one i have seen was about 14cm high, a stem almost a cm thick and the cap was about 8cm. This was one HUGE mushroom. haven't found any young shrooms for a while now, only big crusty/mushy ones
-
top garden, that is going to be one HUGE patch when they get big

I went for a drive to the local mushroom farm the other day, (huon valley mushrooms), and came across this shroom, I hadn't seen it before so i bought some to try. They called it a chestnut mushroom, its a wood lover and it has a brown spore print. The taste is well a not very strong shroomy taste but with a dry after taste, and the stem is quite tough. Didn't think much of it really, i'd stick with oyster mushies any day.

wow now that is something to aim for. can't wait to see the grafts!

Nice one prophet slipperies have the spongy gills and a brown cap that is sticky when wet, or as A. M. Young says "light brown to ochre-brown, smooth, viscid to glutinous" it has spongy soft texture when cooked, my gf doesn't like them. But if you don't mind the texture the flavour is good. not sure about the blue staining
