has anyone had this happen to their elm oysters before? I was fruiting straight off grain to see what would happen. After the 1st flush stopped growing a second flush started growing pretty much straight away. The baby shrooms started growing on the caps of the old mushrooms. They didn't grow very big, there were other more stronger mushies growing that took over. The cake was kept in a bag on the top of my fridge, so it very high humidty.

Well even if just a few people realise that they need too talk to someone about personal issues/problems its going to be a success. I've had an unusual time over the last week. And its made me think about my family and the way i tend to shut up and block feelings out. It like a pressure cooker. the black dogs are getting tamed but they always remain wild at heart and can stike out when you least need it.

I have no idea why the would try to burn a great cactus. I was too shocked to ask them why. There was heaps of rot in some of the pieces. Some of the rot went all the way to the core. I think they had been lying on wet ground for a fair time. Its such a shame I didn't ask them about it before they cut it down. I have never seen a big cactus like this before, one of the mid section cuttings i've made weighs 2.7kg and is 28cm long!

Darklight try using the japanese pumkin for soups. It is not as sweet and has a drier consistancy. my local friut market sometimes has the seconds for $1 each. and by seconds it means that the colour is not uniform all the way around and so can't be exported to japan.

"The complete book of fruit growing in Australia" get it. It has some fantastic stuff in it. My unkle has it and i devour it every time i visit them. There is a custard apple from peru that can grow in Tasmania! As for apples graft as many varieties onto a healthy tree, I have gravenstien (my fav), golden del., Mutsu, fuji, lady of the snow (a REALLY good old variety), granny smith, johnothan, coxes pippin orange. and thats only a start. There are heaps of good apples out there. The idea is to have early mid and late fruiting varities so you can harvest for a long period. avacados grow here in tassie, just keep them covered in winter for the first few years and when they are about a meter high they should be fine. They do grow slow. Mine is getting to 1.5m and is old, possibly 6 years. Its not in a very good spot for it, but hey its alive. There is a big avacado tree in St helens on the east coast which is fruiting. Cherries are another great option, greeat for christmas celebrations Cane berries, rasberries, loganberries, silvanberries, boysnberries, blackberries (go thornless). If you want any of these remind me next autumn and i'll dig you up a heap from my garden. must have garlic, tomatoes and sweet basil in for vegie patch. I can't live through summer without these

Thanks everyone, Its amazing how asking a simple question has cemented our relationship. After 8 years I tought we were close but this has just made us closer. After 8 years I was happy with myself to ask her. maybe i should mention where I popped the question It was on the top of a snow capped mountain, cornet peak, in NZ. The mountain ranges in the background, ahhh it was special. As for wedding plans, man who to invite? i mean we made up a list of friends and relatives for our engagment party and we got 244 people I didn't know i knew that many people We think the wedding will be some time in april next year, is 6 months enough time? I hope sp congrats botanika hope it all goes well on the big day

nice one gerbil. this one is of a "shimeji" mushroom. I abused it from the start. the tech. is as follows poured boiling water over newspaper, forgot about it for a week then emtpied out the water. Cut up some shimeji mushrooms on a chopping block and roll up in newspaper. Forgot about it for a month or so and these are the results. they dried out a couple of days later
