    Gone Fishin!

Saltwater is very corrosive on hooks, do not use small stainless steel ones and they will corrode quickly. Freshwater however I am not convinced on this corrosion effect. "circle hooks" can help , and depending on the fishing style barbless hooks can work (some lures/flys) It is a dilema Sapito....

    Poppy processor fire

The straw including pods is what is processed..... straw is limited however during harvesting If this was pre-processing you wouldn't want to be directly downwind. Outright straw less active, but it is active pre-processing. Burn 4,000 tonnes .... I don't know where that comes from....The variety dictates the alkaloid profile

The fish reek smell can by countered by washing your hands with toothpaste Try it. I have seen some old pictures of blokes in their Sunday best with Murray Cod bigger than them. This really captivated me as a child that such things swum in freshwaters.... 150g./month - shit thats a real issue, biomagnification going on there to the max. Some fish would be worse - Bream a classic example in estuaries because they live for a long period. We have issues with metals in the estuaries down here.

There is an art to blackfish thats for sure Zen. If you are lure fisherman and haven't found them yet : Rapala (floating and jointed) in size J-5, a killer colour is the "firetiger". Can post a pick at a later date. These are great for trout, use to be a celta only man...lol. Bonefish interest me, have seen a bit of footage of this species. I haven't met anyone that has fished for them. Are you attempting them on fly gear?

blueing Inocybe & Pluteus in Tasmania

Hey Tas75, My thoughts are with it is is greater abundance towards the climax community, hence your comments re fire fitting. Which does bring its presence out of "old growth"(?), and in forests closer to climax. I can add parts of Great Western Tiers, Mt Victoria,Mt Maurice etc - but these are pockets of true "old growth", so possibly due to the climax community and hence fungal biodiversity reduction it is absent or scarce. Altitude may be a function of distribution, possibly size of the woody substrate available also. Myrtles may not be hard to find, but the blueing Pluteus appears to be "light on the ground" and this includes conversations with quite a few Fungimap folk.

blueing Inocybe & Pluteus in Tasmania

Lol ferret, have come across a blueing Pluteus (yet..). Wasn't implying locals couldn't find em, just there lot of myrtle coverage Looking at the Warra site work, I have a similar situation to Tas75 with the old stands just not developing such fugal biodiversity. Have only found I believe to be P.cervinus , working from a rudimentary key. (W.F.T Eygelshiem "Tasmanian Mushrooms and Toadstools" - Limited print ). Warra may be the hotspot? But will be keeping eyes open , I walk in myrtle forest daily.

Myrtle coverage is much greater that that Ferret. WIll keep my eyes open in the northern and central forests, in general though the altitudes are higher than the warra site.
