  1. why do the yanks even care about New Zealand? it's just a nice little country down in the cold, no massive military might, no huge mineral or oil deposits, too small to annex for living space... I'm not New Zealand bashing by the way, i literally just do not understand why the U.S would feel the need to control that country; I've not heard anything about any of these issues. besides of course the tale of Kim's arrest which was ridiculous.

Nimbin shop owners raided today. Sep 11, 2014

i like that they brought a riot squad just in case. those druggies...
  3. 230 grams of c4 hardly consttutes a bag full, and, as far as i know, it is pretty useless without a detonator. if i was her i would have taken it down the dodgy side of town and traded up for a motorcycle or somethin'. it's just lucky it didn't end up in an arabic chaps bag, can you imagine one of those people innocently walking into the police station with some semtex to hand it back, he'd be on rendition in cuba by now.

while eating a some lunch i turned on the television. the American 'TMZ' program was on, and they were talking about how shocked they were miley cyrus had walked around topless or something. here is why, TMZ, courtesy of google trends...

    New federal import laws

easy, plant gardeners are more hesitant to break the law, where true criminal organizations are happy to remain criminal and import / manufacture their gear illegitimately. this is one of the main problems with prohibition of drugs, guns etc. the people you wish to prohibit keep at their activities while regular people are without something of interest. in the case of drugs this requires elderly women and young teens to deal with sometimes violent criminals, and in the case of guns, means only people with criminal intent are wielding weapons.

    Hot pepper seed contest

don't have a name for this dish, something i make some times. braise an octopus hand to keep the skin on, dunk it in boiling water + some red wine or champagne vinegar for 30 seconds then take it out and let it rest while the water reboils and repeat 5 times before sealing the pot, then reduce the heat to very low and cook for an hour and a half or so. add peppercorns and juniper berries and schallots and some bay leaves with a little smoked paprika to the stock for a tastier, redder octopus. after this process you should be left with a nice tender octopus, so, remove it from the pot and let it cool. before doing this, i will have chopped about 5 habaneros into slices and put it to around 700ml oil, NOT extra virgin olive, i use (pura?) tuscan blend, and lit sit for some days. then, basically, marinate the octopus in the chili oil, maybe with a little oregano if you please. slice super fine to serve with a salad or cracker, ideally with a cerveza i don't really need any seeds just thought id share a recipe

Have you seen any cool movies lately??

'begotten' and 'din of celestial birds', very striking cinematography. strange experimental shorts. often called 'experimental horror' but i wouldn't go that far...

    Aztekium

it looks about 10 years old, give or take a couple, so, either wild collected or seed grown from seed previously thought to be ritteri or hintonii. i wonder if the authorities are onto listings like this...

  13. by your logic, freud, you have projected sexual meanings onto inert objects, then made those sexual meanings seem questionable. ashamed of your repressed sexuality? at the end of the day, i went to a forest and got in a fight with a literal sword, if that, besides the language i used to describe it, puts my sexuality into question, then i best not tell the dream about the giant hotdog i had to lick to death to empty my 2 balloons of cream...
  14. i don't recall dreams very often at all, i'm not a very good sleeper, but, occasionally, i do recall a very vivid one. some time ago i remember crawling through a tunnel from my bedroom which immediately exited through a cavity in a fallen hollowed log in a wooded area. when i got out a few of my friends were there, and we proceeded to sword fight another character, very casually. this one stands out of all the dreams i can remember as being the only one that didn't follow some recurring theme, like, the ability to flight without the ability to understand my power and having zero velocity etc, standard.

    Anonymous Friend No More.

you seek to make a distinction between people doing it hard and people not doing it hard. so, where, in your opinion, should the line be drawn? I'm by no means impoverished, but a loaf of bread given to me by my bakery paid for by the last bloke who could spare a few bob would always be appreciated. if i participated in such a scheme and donated a loaf's worth, i would be happy for it to go to the next banker, lawyer or politician who walked in if it meant he could save breaking another greenback to get a bottle of milk on the way home. relative to that person, they were doing it hard, and in that scenario i would have helped a person on their day. isn't that the whole idea? i understand the gripe with the bakery not taking note etc, as it's possible they aren't handing out free loafs at all and if they are they don't seem to be doing it efficiently, but, give old average joe a break. they worked hard to go through law school, sit through tattoo and piercing sessions, master a video game, start a family or anything else. everyone has it hard, do as jesus did and give them a break... edit: just had a look at the 'anonymous friends' facebook page, it appears to be about random acts of kindness rather than helping a particular socioeconomic group. a bakery is mentioned also, and it appears they specificaly package a loaf in a 'pay it forward' bag and give it to the next person who asks for that variety of loaf. seems nice enough to me...

confirmation bias. besides, 'you may get sick and bleed out of your eyes until you die, or, care for the people already afflicted' should be taken more seriously than celebrity wedding and 'drug war' stories...

got a new loph can get a specific id?

KT, if you read this again anytime soon, what makes you think fricii? the only plants of that species i have seen that look like this are a white flowered variety (albiflora?) and, with my more limited research, i had always thought a plant with well defined ribs and a white flower is likely to be williamsii. i'm curious to know more about this type of plant (Lophophora fricii var. albiflora) if more is to be known.

Tony Abbott to extend anti-terrorism laws

yeah, i thought we already had quite harsh mercenary laws, so, shouldn't those fighting international jihads be arrested upon re-entry into Australia anyway? letting them free so that we can survey their movements is only going to allow them to create the very terror networks they say these laws are trying to survey, which, at least guarantees results. "look, we caught a network of 15 terrorists, by rifling through your metadata and removing your rights as a human, obey us"

    chat.

T, that's cool if it isn't really possible, was just an idea. what i meant wasn't that you could do things that you are unable too in the new chat space (i am sorry for this, sometimes it is hard for me to articulate whats in my head) but who it would be seen by, sort of. if it were another members birthday, one could say 'happy birthday memberX' or if you read a news article that was only semi related to the forum you could share the link to it there, where it would then be seen by anyone who logged in for a day or 2 (while relevant) and then be bumped out by something else. this would save folk from starting an entire thread for arguably trivial topics. the shout box wasn't always used like this, but, it was a lot of the time. was sometimes fun to see a joke or a quote or a short monologue or something someone had written there, which is where the new space differs. it's only real function is as a chat space, which does have merit, just a different functionality. as i said though, it isn't important; I'd be happy with a bare bones forum

Planting Acacia's out in the wild

I'd suggest not too, they can be very invasive when successful, and, they are successful often.

    chat.

if possible, i suggest having the shout box as well as the more functional chat space. the shout box was good to share links etc without needing to start an entire thread, but the chat space is good, well, as a chat space...

    New federal import laws

people in Libya and the Ukraine seemingly used fishing spear guns and slingshots and zip-guns to kill someone else for their weapon, I'd imagine if anything actually kicked off it would be similar here. where there's a will, there's a killing tool...

    Ebola. Latest developments thread.

perhaps unrest has disturbed regular food production and increased the bushmeat trade, thereby increasing ebola contact, then spread through protests (public gatherings have been restricted for this reason i gather). i won't be eating a raw gorilla any time soon...
