Looks like it pupping around the scar tissue.

Do not use vermiculite for cactus as that retains moisture. You want to use perlite so it is fast draining.
Also, just seeing growth on the cactus doesn't mean it has rooted as cactus will put out growth without roots. You actually need to gently remove the cactus from the pot to see if there are actual roots. Do this about 2 weeks after the cactus has been potted. Do not do any watering before this as your potting mix should have enough moisture to cause the cactus to begin rooting. Only after you see roots do you begin a light watering schedule where you wait for the soil to dry out between waterings.

Looking at the picture, I think both logs have the top pointing to the right.

Yup, either RTV silicone you find at the auto parts store or expandable earplugs. Although the RTV silicone are better since they do not pop out in the PC as the earplugs sometimes do.

Hmm, I think you definitely make the outfit look better. I actually use this on all my forums lol. They said I had a twin.

The modem route would work if landlines did not go down but the landlines in Egypt have also gone down so the only way of communicating right now is if you have a satellite phone.

Wow, that's a full garden of awesomeness right there. Great find.

If you want to use Asian agar, get the one without coloring or additives such as sugar or flavoring. There are brands out there that are just straight agar.
The Swallow one I think is from Indonesia. They make a packet that is just straight agar. You can also get one's from Thailand such as Telephone brand.

Yeah, well, America isn't that much better. I haven't flown in over a year but will have to soon.

Would just a couple drops of vinegar work as well?

Seems as it is due to environmental conditions that the various pups displayed different characteristics. As they suggested, get rid of the normal pup and let the full energy of growth be directed at the monstrose pups. Good looking plant there.

That's some mighty fine seedling porn.

Yeah, that's what they do with training trees and lucky bamboo. You just got to do a small turn everyday and then the cactus would bend towards the light.

Micropore has worked great on bags. Just make sure the bags are polypropylene and not polyethylene.
-
You can also use some micropore tape to secure the tyvek to the bags. Either that or cut out a 2.5cm x 2.5cm square from the bag and place a 5cm x 5cm micropore tape over for the FAE.

Hi magicF, I'm still fairly fresh with cactus growing, I was wondering how long you left them to callous, that lead to the curved growth
I actually left them horizontal for about 6 weeks. Problem was I forgot to leave them in a totally dark place and they had etoliated growth while reaching for the damn sun. Of course, that just makes them more unique haha.
I was actually thinking of cutting off the curve part and rooting those but the curve is beginning to rub off on me.

Wow, those are some also shots!

Ahh, at least the mystery is solved. Good to hear that some are saved and you cloned others.

Oyster might be okay but if you are talking actives, most cubies cannot tolerate freezing temperatures. Subcubies might be different.
-
Depending on whether it's spore solution or LC, freezing is never a good idea. With spore solution, it'll cause the spore walls to pop due to crystallization. Best is to keep it in a refrigerator in a cool dark place rather then the freezer.

Looks like that picture was from a collection in Thailand. Those guys have some amazing loph collection.

Here is another item you can use that is polypropylene and is able to withstand a pressure cooker. Ball freezer jars and you can find them on many websites such as Amazon or here Pantry Supplies. It comes in 8oz, 16oz, and 32oz. They can be used for cakes or grains.
You can drill a hole into the lid and use high temp RTV silicone weld you find at your automotive parts supply store as injection points. As the silicone does not really stick well to the plastic, us a bit of micropore tape as a foundation. Then you can use polyfil in another hole for FAE.
Hope you Christchurch cactophiles are ok!
