  1. Well well

    Where does andy Live?

I'll be in Ballina next weekend too, plus I keep saying it

jono but I'm going to come down soon with the kid (was even going to come today, but I just got so much stuff to do and feel like I need to be on top of it before I take some time off ;)

Tripis got my number if ya want to give me a buz, I lost yours :)

  2. Well I know the gorse weevil was introduced in new zealand to control the spread of gorse some time ago (1930's)

It was supposed to do so by reducing its seed crop. The adults may damage young shoots and flowers, but the significance of this damage and its effect on the plant is unknown. However, the larvae destroy up to 96% of the seed produced during spring and early summer.

I believe they did not survive well in the nz climate and the gorse spread faster than the weevils meaning that gorse is still a problem

Edit : Point being they lay eggs in unripe fruit which then eat their way out consuming the seed as they go

  3. The main ingredient is probably synehrine found in the citrus aurantium, probably a standardised extract and possibly octopamine, both B-phenathylamines. Synephrine works on beta-3 adrenergic receptors while all the other ingrediants excepting the alstonia have xanthine alkaloids I.e caffiene and theobromine at varying ratios. These act to lengthen the effects of the synephrine and octopamine with their own cns stimulating effects as well. These are common ingredients for weight loss/body building stacks now that the ECA stack is no longer commercially available.

The alstonia has indole alkaloids, and a wild guess may see some similarities in effect with those in the Alstonia macrophylla as with those in Pausitalia Yohmibe (or aspidosperma quebracho-blanco which I don't think is common in australia?) as this is also a common ingredient in weight loss stacks and these indole alkaloids act as central-nervous-system stimulator however the alkaloids in the alstonia macrophylla also have a antipyretic effect silmilar to that of paracetamol which yohimbe alkaloids do not have.

  4. A urine test only tests for 11-nor-delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol-9-carboxylic acid a metabolite of THC and a positive is over 50 nanograms per litre I think. so if the effect is from CBD or CBN it will probably not form this metabolite

With a blood test I believe there are several metabolites tested for and therefor the rates of detection are considerably lower for each compound (ie the test returns a value in nanograms for the combined levels of metabolites, but I don't know if these are only THC metabolites or metabolites of CBD and CBN or these compounds themselves

Cannabiverol (CBV) possesses about 20% of THC’s activity and Although Cannabidiol (CBD) has no psychoactivity, it does antagonize THC and produces other valuable sedative, antibiotic, and anti-epileptic effects. The effects of the tea may well be from these ingrediants

  5. Thought some fellow peeps might now the whereabouts of some of the following

    Green tea extract

    Hops extract

    Inula extract

Aspidosperma Quebracho-blanco. I believe this is schedule 4 now?, but if anyone has a plant for trade, I would be interested

Ethnogarden sell an extract, (among other interesting isolates) of Quebracho, and it sounds really interesting! I also would like to find out more about their technique for isolating muscimol, apparently it requires several cloumn runs and yields about 100mg/kg of material!

    Thanks all!

  6. 2 strokes burn oils as engine lubricant (mixed with fuel) and for this reason will likely be completely outlawed very soon, whereas a four stroke uses a recirculation system for engine lube!

This is true, but only for the reason that the crank case is essentially a part of the intake system in that it is used for the vacuum of combustion gases through the crank case into the cylinder,

I would say there should be an easy way to bypass the crankcase eg an electric turbo which could be used to both draw out exhaust gases and force in combustion mix ignoring/removing the vacuum created in the crank case and allowing it to be filled with oil just as a 4 stroke is

2 strokes are the bomb for power, although the power is delivered very specifically, hence the much sought after 2 stroke power band. This is what will throw you off the bike if you are a learner and the rgv or aprilia is probably not a good idea for a starter learner while the cbr is a very gentle performer.

The problem with riding two strokes on long journeys is that the pistons or piston bores become glazed (get a thin layer of deposit on them) which increases friction, decreases power/engine life etc due to the cylinder temps and temperature distribution achieved on these low revving but steady rides

They must be ridden hard to avoid this :drool2:

  7. refers to the number of strokes the piston takes for each firing sequence,

ie 2 stroke fires once for every up and down stroke hence 2 stroke

so when the engine fires the first stroke is the power/exhaust stroke down. Near the bottom of this stroke the exhaust gases are released when the piston passes the exhaust port ie valveless, the next stroke is the compression/intake stroke as this stroke starts up, the combustion mix is drawn in through the crankcase by the vacuum from the upwards stroke. This mix is drawn into the cylinder from the crankcase via an inlet channel from crankcase to cylinder space by the next power/exhaust stroke

a 4 stroke fires once for every 2 up and 2 down strokes, 4 strokes altogether

so when the engine fires the first stroke is the power stroke down, the next stroke up (exhaust) pushes out exhaust gases, third stroke down (intake) draws in combustion mix, 4th stroke is the compression stroke compressing the mix for combustion and back to the beginning all controlled by valve timing

  8. well if ya want something fun i'd stay away from the small 4 strokes and get a 2 stroke 250cc, they are a blast, but need regular maintenance (something that is good to learn anyway)

Suzuki rgv's are good value for money and will lick the road clean of those pesky cbr 250's :innocent_n: should be able to get a good condition one for about 3-4k

But if you really want to have a pocket rocket, grab an aprilia rs250 :drool2: You should find one for under 7k and it will smoke any other 250 on the road. for 30 k trips these things are perfect! not so good on the engines if your going to sit on the highway at 110 though, they prefer to be revved and cooled.

HERE"S your bike Have fun!

  9. But for radioactive waste the long term problem is to use glass supposedly, but the metal titataniun can get crystalized so the solution is encase with with 4 inches of silicon.

Volcanic rock is silicon but maybe try using low level radioactive waste is a test.

If its gassed out can be tested.

Can't be as bad as testing above ground in 40s with whatever.

Cancer from smoking just was propaganda exercise that worked.

Lava doesn't break down very fast.

    And encased.

LOL problem is, Volcanoes have a habit of exploding and sending their contents kilometres into the atmosphere where jet streams will carry the ash very large distances very quickly

  10. If there is boiling water coming out of the ground, my guess would be its uncovered a geothermal vein/vent and there is sulfurous gasses being emitted

Otherwise it could be a gas pocket that has been hit, and the water is not boiling hot but bubbling with natural gas, probably cause similar symptoms

Vanadyl Sulphate (not vanadium sulphate) is a mineral substance not gaseous and therefor I believe it would not be the cause as it seems that people have been getting sick from breathing fumes, not drinking water. it is used as a supplement up to 100mg/day and claims of toxicity at these levels have apparently been based on erroneous data

And even Mt Fuji's high levels would still require someone to drink 1000litres to get a 150mg dose
