  1. Aaah, now I like where this is going! I believe that Bhuddism is a way of life not a religion, just as I base my way of life on the wicken beliefs but not religion. Both indicate a system of doctrines that they can be widely agreed apon and understood to mean simply the law of life I said the bible is the religion to christians, as the quran is religion to Islam. Neither religion would hold any belief in the others teaching and this is my point, and what you also agree to. The religion of the future will be enlightenment which comes from understanding. I call it a religion only in terms that it will gather followers and believers like present day religions, but will be based purely on knowledge instead of belief and faith, dispelling uncertainty and allowing man to evolve to the next level!
  2. At what point did I say University teaches ultimate reality? I did indeed allude that knowledge is forever being gained which means we will always be finding answers to both new and old questions and greater understanding to be had by all. I have completed two degrees in scientific disciplines and realise I can hardly begin to understand the working dynamics of the universe with the little understanding I have, but knowledge is collective. The bible is religion, it is a book of religion, and since no religious person believes in more than their religion, to them it is the be all and end all of their religion for Christians, just as the kuran is to the Islams I am not talking about any string theories, all I amsaying is that we are answering questions that used to be unanswered and therefore answered by religion. I also don't believe that the universe is a creation of the mind. If you do, then you abviously have faith in something I do not Religion is by definition from the oxford dictionary "the belief in and worship of a superhuman controlling power, especially a personal God or gods. 2 a particular system of faith and worship. 3 a pursuit or interest followed with devotion" Therefor a simple belief in something without worship or devotion is not a religion and certainly a belief in nothing does not befit a religion at all. Faith is by definition from the oxford dictionary "1 complete trust or confidence. 2 strong belief in a religion. 3 a system of religious belief." Belief in nothing does not require any much trust or confidence, just that what is, is. This does not take a major stretch of the imagination for most people Have you read the Kuran? This may be true for modern times, but these wars are still centered around religion and the people of one religion hate people of another because of their religios beliefs, not the beliefs of their politicians or out of greed Understanding does not happen overnight, it is an ongoing process. What is "that" that our actions are based on? it is certainly not religion for me unless religion involves going out working hard and earning money to keep food on the table. My actions are based on reward outweighing cost, not wether some deity approves of my actions made in blind faith.
  3. I think you are talking about theories of evolution Science has found millions of conclusive answers to millions of proposed hypothetical and actual questions. If science itself in inconclusive why the hell do people study it at university, is it somehow a blind fluke that hundreds of pharmaceuticals are produced using science? no! What science does do is explain our presence a hell of a lot better than the bible which is a glorified fictional best seller. All writting is based on some truth which gives it credence. I am sure that if we could go back to the time when we are missing explanations for our existance and eye witness those crutial steps we would have valid and conclusive proof which explain our missing evolutionary steps and are 100% scientifically based. If you look back in time, religion was simply used to explain the unknown. With the advent of science, the list of unknowns is quite conclusively becoming shorter. It is only a matter of time before the list will be completely crossed of all togethor. Now, who in this thread actually alluded to science providing all the aswers apart from me (playing the devils advocate). It is entirely possible to hate religion and not believe in something else or nothing all togethor. The fact is religion has brought war, pestilence, and hatred to this world (do I need to give examples?), woah hold on, if that be true religion be the devil (according to the bible) and who or what would that make God? personally I live by the same rules as provided by wicken without actually believing in magic per se. They are a good set of rules upon which one can build a happy existence and get along with their fellows and nature. All the superstition seen in ancient wicken traditions is again a product of a lack of viable explanations for experiences had in those times With Knowledge comes understanding

    The kids are the future

yeah watch out for those damn intellectuals, usurpers and war mongerers with the age of the internet, i'm sure they will have search engines programmed to look for a series of key words that it will recognize as being of an inflammatory nature. I will not be dettered, and I really don't care if I make a list. like Gom this would be more an honour than anything else, but it is easy enough to use an alias, however, I already know of one person who has a notable public stature and has second thoughts of writting their mind, and this is the problem, what happened to free speech and all that?

    The kids are the future

Well it has been talked about in a new national security bill that was to be signed last week (as stated in the economist, september 23rd - 29th). George Bush warned against the complacent view that America, unlike Britain, has no problem with home grown islamist radicals: American prisons and universities might well become the breeding ground for the ideology of terror. Bush also addressed the Globval audience. He said it was "Clear that the world was engaged in a great ideological struggle" between "the enemies of humanity" and "moderate people who work for peace". Dick Chaney told the audience that the terrorists plan to sieze control of a country in the middle east and use it as a base from which to overthrow other governments and eventually set up "a totalitarian empire" stretching from spain to indonesia ??????

What do you do during summer?

Yeah optimum growth for mycelium is actually above 30 C. Fruiting requires initiation by dropping temp. This can be done with an ice pack, do this a couple of times and then you let it warm up again and you will again get faster pinning and fruit growth, cool again to initiate a second and third pinning. As long as humidity is good shouldn't be a problem

What from SAB have you really liked?

When I used to do evening and night shifts I would take along the pan masala and chew it all night long, anyone asked I would give them a small taste, leaving out the chunks of betel nut and tell em it was an indian delicacy

They speak of war. In this I believe they are alluding to the protection of Israel. While America has a Christian Government they have vowed to protect Israel, as this is supposed to be the place where the second coming of Christ is to occur. With this is mind, how are they any better than than any Muslim nation based on religion? IMO they are worse as they are directly responsible for enticeing the losses they have suffered and continue to do so. Apparently America now has an "antiAmerican Ledger" where the CIA will hold information on anyone who publishes anti-american views. That includes you and me. It may make you think twice about writting to the papers to slag America. I am sure this means you will be red flagged when passing through american customs. You may be allowed to enter, but I reckon you'l be harrased. This is of course their intention, to minimise anti american publications.

    Marijuana may stave off Alzheimer's

I'm glad your cat is home! I love cats and I know the feeling when they go missing. Mine went missing for three days and when he came home, he had been shot straight through his body, smashing bones and all! they really are tough! (he survived) Thanks for letting me know about yourself. I wish you the best, and understand somewhat the road you have travelled after my father was brain damaged (and recovered) after a car accident You have my respect, and I look forward to getting to know you and your posts better!

    Marijuana may stave off Alzheimer's

The internet has bridged communication gaps, the fact that it has happened so rapidly is almost scary! I speak 4 languages, some very poorly and without practice I become stale and my messages become uninteligable. I have not meant to offend you Devance, but have read many posts of yours, and do not deny you are an intelligent being, but I sometimes miss the point of what you are trying to convey. I have asked and I guess rather bluntly my question, out of context of the post and with no relation to apo's reply in order to understand you better. In hindsight I might not have asked the question as I realize (and please don't be offended) that there may be other reasons for a poor grasp of written english. If this is the case, you are not only intelligent, but brave as the things in life usually easily overcome eg reading and writing become stumbling blocks and obstacles of a great proportion. I have had friends who had trouble in English at school, many left and and a couple are now in jail for armed robbery, it is a sad fact of life that people fall through the gaps I am always amazed by the people on this site. Many have had very hard times, and have come through them arriving here bigger, better and wiser. There is a degree of enlightenment here which goes beyond verbal or written communication. I thank everyone here inclusive for the contributions made, everyones insight is invaluable and really has had an impact on the way I look at my life and to the future
