    Psychedelic Synesthetic Gaming

Looks Ace! :D It's on PC right?
  2. As my last point, I just want to make this face: -_- And say that some people here simply don't understand how debating works. You don't discuss topics based on personal connotations of words. You use the definition, which I have provided earlier (albeit the child molester one was a bit iffy). Pleading ignorance due to other people's misuse of a word does nothing but lower you to their level. Not all thoughts precipitate actions, and not all actions precipitate from thoughts.

2012 - what seeds to save?

For one: The Mayan calendar doesn't finish next year. It starts again. The same as 2010 ended last year, and 2011 began. For two: Earth is periodically exposed to solar bursts of varying intensities. We won't die any more from [EMP caused] power-grid disruption than the people in Tokyo with no power will (which is to say, only the frail). For three: Although I must admit that the night sky is barely monitored, and where it is monitored - only mildy accurately, this alone does not suggest an entire planet (!) will directly impact Earth within 2 years. Furthermore - if it DID happen, there's absolutely nothing you can do, so sit back and enjoy the ride. Current estimates place asteroid deflection technology deployment at a few years at least from detection (so we can't go all Deep Impact on that space basketball). For four: Statistically, there's nothing that says disasters have increased occurence as of late. There's simply increased coverage (hug your media blanket), and more infrastructure (be it shanty towns or concrete cities) to be damaged than ever before. So, chill out. Either you're going to gasp once that date passes and quickly sweep the hype under the carpet - or you're going to get annihilated to smithereens. No amount of praying, repenting or arm-flailing will allow anything otherwise.

    Importation of dried cactus tissue?

I can't comment on the legality. But it's not worth it at all. You'd be better off now, and in the future if you grew your own cactus plants.

What is wrong with these psychotria nexus?

I cannot say for sure (or anywhere further than mere speculation for that matter), but I do know I have seen a similar thing occur on citrus trees, and AFAIK - was caused by a virus of some kind. Edit: Just did some searching, and also various insects and insufficient water can also cause that type of curling. So how much are you watering the plant?
  9. I've missed a lot of replies... But essentially, whatever happened to 'every man is born equal'? So what some of you are saying, is that mantra is not true for all humans, and those born with an unyielding attraction to children - are not deserved of compassion, or even of life? Have a think about that. What if your son/daughter was born with a compulsion towards children? Are you going to murder/jail your child to protect another simply because of what they think? Do you honestly believe that it's not possible for your child to live as normal a life as can be, and simply act out fantasies with their partner at a later stage in life? Or what, you think that you'll tell them to "snap out of it", just as homosexuals were told to for hundreds of years? I invoke the concept of your own child, because the people who seem to be unable to grasp these concepts also seem to have no empathy for their common man either. And lastly, I think we should make a call to the Palaeontological Association and let them know we've found a few Pachycephalosaurs (pronounced /ˌpækɨˌsɛfəlɵˈsɔriə/, Greek for 'thick headed lizards').

    what's wrong with this loph?

In my experience (limited), I've only seen insect damage on new-growth (probably because of the thinner skin). It also may have something to do with soil pH. I have one pachanoi that's getting absolutely buffeted (pun, I think) upon, while it's brother is not. The only differences between the two are: One getting eaten was in the shade for longer than the other, one getting eaten has heaps of limestone chips as the soil cover, while the other one has inert rocks. So if this not just a random discrepancy, then I would posit that shade and pH being too high could contribute to insect attack. Where is your Loph growing? And what kind of soil are you using? The soil looked good from the photo, but if you've been using a lot of mineral-based fertilizers, then the soil micro-organisms would've died back, and that would not help either.

My first thought was actually snail damage, but a closer photo would be much appreciated.

    traits: Spines, curved and bent

/\ Hah! What's this guy up to? But back on topic. Another dimension is the stiffness of the spines. I've seen some very limp spines that although short, if they were long would've bent.

Biggest full moon in 18 years :o

Auckland folks would've been treated to seeing the moon appearing amidst long pink clouds, contrasted perfectly by the remaining gaps of blue.
  16. Well, I'm sick to the ****ing core of people who complain (rather than whine, because whiners are just funny) without trying to find a solution. The only thing I know about solutions, is that they're always in the grey area between two extremes. And I think it's a fair compromise to have some kind of release for paedophiles. They need to have enough options so that they will not feel the need to resort to exploited children. Much as the public (given a proper chance, i.e. equal pricing) would SURELY choose free range eggs over cage eggs.
  17. Sheather: I'm glad we agree on this. I find it sad that people who think they're enlightened and tolerant (towards homosexuals and other nationalities) can be so disgusted with paedophiles. We (as a society) need to integrate them into society AND protect children. If we can land on the moon, we can do this too. Maybe some kind of animated pornography amnesty? Maybe Japan has the problem solved? Edit: Here are the definitions of the words. So there are some people here (who shall not be mentioned by name) who are not even using the words correctly. paedophile or esp ( US ) pedophile (ˈpiːdəʊˌfaɪl) [Click for IPA pronunciation guide] — n a person who is sexually attracted to children child molester noun a man who has sex (usually sodomy) with a boy as the passive partner [syn: pederast]

    hybrids of different species

I was wondering which pachanoi you speak of Mutant? I have quite a few NZ pachanoi, and I can't say any of them are anything distinct or special. Most of them are hybridized for sure though.

    Acacia ID

I'm not so interested in it. But I do like to ID as many plants as possible. Awesome feeling knowing what many of the plants you see are (not that I know more than a few). I'm also working on sprouting my Acacia seeds in the coming weeks. :D I'm just worried about the amount of attention they'll need. I wish I had a remote controlled plant robot which I could pilot to water and feed my plants when I'm away from home. One day...

    Acacia ID

What are those pod things in the 5th photo? If they are seedpods, then I don't think it is a Ceratonia (which seems to have Acacia style seed pods). But I do think it's in the Rosids (narrows down to about 70,000 plants :D).

    Acacia ID

I think I found a longifolia the other day. Was walking home to a friend's place, at maybe 9pm. Quite dark. And we walked a shortcut that I've never walked before. Somehow, in the dark (quite dark), I managed to notice a possible Acacia as I was just walking past it. I grabbed a few leaves, and checked them once we had got back. Acacia for sure, and more than likely a Longifolia. I was quite pleased with that find.

    Acacia ID

That is 99% not an Acacia. Look at the leaf in the 4th photo, how it's got that huge fat vein right down the middle. As far as I know, no acacias (at least of the desired disposition) have phyllodes or leaves like that. But what it actually is... No idea hehehe.

    Legitimate Shaman's

What do you want the shaman to do for you? If you just want advice on common ailments and such, you'd probably find most of the information written in herbal books. If you want a guide for say, ayahuasca - then I question why it has to be a shaman to share his interpretation of underlying reality? But to answer your question - good luck, I think most shamans who are genuine would've stayed in their village, and I think most shamans who are conmen would've emigrated to find more money. Why don't you become a shaman yourself?

Sangre de drago / grado (Croton lechleri)

Okay. I did a quick search, but I could not find if you had tried a comprehensive low carbohydrate (with high lipid content) diet for over 2 weeks? I'm pretty sure it was Crohn's that was found to be mostly remediated by a low carbohydate diet. Lastly, have you tried a high Glutamine diet (or even supplements)? This diet (which basically entirely overlaps with low carbohydrate) is supposedly extremely good for GI health. Consequently, any foods which interfere with glutamine absorption should be lessened too. The type of diet I'm wondering if you've tried is: - Eggs - Chicken - Cheese (all the cheese, assuming you're not intolerant to dairy) - Fish (try to avoid farmed fish, as their omega FA content is inferior to ocean fish [side effect of them being fed on grains]) - Lettuce (substantial amounts) - Spinach (substantial amounts, and raw) - Olive oil (and olives) - Avocado (half a day or so) - Almonds and Peanuts (salted is fine) (once a day or more for each, other nuts are suitable, but are far lower in protein, and much higher in carbos) - Cucumber - Tomato (average 1 a day) - Beef (1-2 times a week, and not cooked to death) - Small amounts of bacteria rich yoghurt (kefir) each day or so - Some kind of antioxidant tea if you'd like, such as redbush tea (caffeine not recommended) - L-Glutamine supplement taken between meals If you have tried this, and given it a really good go with an open and extremely hopeful attitude (with anaerobic exercise), and it didn't do anything after 2-3 weeks. Well then I'm sorry I made you read this. But I honestly believe that this diet would at the very least, provide some decent relief.
