I only have one question to ask; if you had known about the dangers of Datura beforehand, would you have used it, or, if you did know about the dangers beforehand, why did you go ahead and do it? Don't you think that if ALL the information on Datura use had been available where you looked for it your attitude towards it would be different?

Datura was something that I wanted to try when I first heard about its mind altering properties, I was excited to hear such strange and bizarre stories of parallel dimensions, invisible cigarettes, realistic hallucinations, etc. Although after some further research, the dangers of experimenting with this plant by ingestion was a definite catalyst to stop me from trying it, the dangers are simply not worth it, the fact that it can kill you or permanently damage and distort the mind is quite scary, im sure that there are plants/drugs/chemicals out there that can do the same, but this discussion is about Daturas, so im not going to stray that far off-topic.

There are far safer methods for working with this plant (and others), without the need to consume or ingest any plant matter. People who ignore the dangers yet still choose to experiment, I believe, are just looking for a way to alter their perceptions, to experience altered states of consciousness.

  2. Torsten sounds pretty interesting, im not sure if I have the same thing, but I get pretty relaxed when I hear certain types of sounds, such as pages flipping, typing on the keyboard, cars driving around a blocks distance away with the subwoofer pumping or when people are working nearby, still not sure what it is exactly apart from cerebral euphoria and relaxation.

Pine forests and lush green rainforests are a breath of fresh air, it also gives me a visual reset from seeing cars, roads, buildings almost on a daily basis.

  3. I put the kettle on the boil and pulled it off just before the water started to boil, then soaked some of the seeds in a semi-thermos bottle for around 18hrs or so, had a floatie on top which cracked its shell, the others went straight to the bottom, apart from the one at the top they didnt look like they swelled up much. Put the seeds in regular potting mix about 5mm deep then misted the top layer with water, ill let you know if anything pops up.

  4. Is it possible to root red catha (broadleaf) in water only?

This is the mother plant that ill be taking the cuttings from; It's getting quite large, will have to transplant soon, what do you guys do to keep the size small?

  5. Passionflower and St John's Wort both brewed together to make a tea are a good combination or 30g of Passionflower to a liter of water and dividing a few doses of that for drinking during the day also seems to help, I'm unsure if there are any quick fixes to that sort of damage though.

The initial step is realizing that there is indeed a problem present, then the next step would be to stop using such drugs as they will just do more damage, then as gtarman has advised us, meditation and nutrition are key ingredients to the recovery process.

If you are religious or mystically inclined, prayers are in my opinion useful, there are other more esoteric practices that can be found throughout the various religious systems of the East and West, yet you have to have the time, patience and interest to go through this route.
