ya man some of the pitcher plants are amazing, there are many hybrids, we even have native ones from our sub tropics. Sticky pads work great but why buy pads when you can simply plant some "pinguicula" everywhere (they are sticky pads).
-
May shed some light on it: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rennet The GM rennet is most interesting.

Would pitcher plant help? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pitcher_plant grab them from local hardware shop, bunnings for a few bucks. My favorite man eating plant. I have 3 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nepenthes_mirabilis i can trade (all with large pitchers) OR even better, instead of sticky fly paper use the STICKY FLY PAPER PLANT: pinguicula http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pinguicula Mosquitoes will stick to it.

99.9% Solanum nigrum / Solanum americanum (Glossy Nightshade / Common nightshade / Black nightshade / blackberry nightshade...) Only because i know the species of it here in Brisbane look different then normal (the leaves are much smoother and normally shaped). Black nightshade's leafs normally are kinda spiky but im 99.9% thats what u have, Black Nightshade. now if i told you the fruits are edible when very purple you probably wont believe me..... Many people are scared from this plant cause obviously it looks like atropa belladonna, expessaily in Brisbane where the leafs seem to be less spiky and more shinny. I have made a fantastic jam from the RIPE fruits. (*RIPE FRUITS ONLY*). Noxious WEED here in QLD! But i love it cause you can eat it, much liuke Tomato, Solanaceae family, same shit... If you eat a green tommato you get the same toxins. Lol salvia >< you wish...... now way its salvia salvia stem is more hollow, more light green. More info: Common name Blackberry nightshade Botanical name Solanum nigrum and Solanum americanum Other common names Common nightshade, glossy nightshade Family Solanaceae General description An annual or perennial soft wooded herb to about 60cm often found growing as a weed in gardens or waste areas. Flowers The flowers are small, star-shaped, white, clustered together in groups of 4 to 8, measuring 0.8 to 1.2cm in diameter. Leaves The leaves are alternate, with an undulate or entire margin, and measure up to 13cm long and up to 7cm wide. Fruit/Berries The fruit are globular, about 6 to 8mm in diameter, green ripening to a dull or shiny black or dark purple. The ripe fruit are soft and contain numerous small seeds. Other - Symptoms The entire plant is considered toxic however ripe berries are usually harmless. Eating green berries may cause headache, nausea and mild stomach upset. Toxicity category 2 Warning Seek medical attention if symptoms occur or more than 3 unripe (green) berries are eaten. http://www.health.qld.gov.au/poisonsinformationcentre/plants_fungi/blackberrynightshade.asp I can conferm purble berrys are eddible from brisbane area. So lets clean up Brisbane one jam jar at a time??? Use's for s. Nigrum

Its that time of the year again, i have been 4 years in a row and must admit its a great, great time, i wait all year for this festival, one of my favorites. Show your support, attend the hemp Olympics buy a t-shirt and march in the protest, every year they are getting closer and closer to the goal. Info below: Hope to see you there ;) -Vual MARDIGRASS 2011 APRIL 30 AND MAY 1 "BRING BACK RESPECT" The MardiGrass Organising Body has met with Lismore Council and everything is on track officially for the 2011 annual weekend of cannabis law reform activities. The MOB meets every friday from 5pm at the Embassy (enter thru the HEMP Bar) and everyone is welcome. We are always keen for new ideas and input and especially local volunteers. We plan on being better organised with volunteers this year and we may even have 'Team Leaders', or perhaps, 'Top Buds'. Local knowledge is critical to guide the hordes of often non English speaking backpackers who want to help out and locals wanting to be part of this please register early at the Embassy. Same with Jungle Patrollers. Recycling at least the cans must happen this year and we are looking for a club or non profit local group who will help take this on and get the profits. We also want to hear from creative souls who want to do street theatre over the weekend. And remember the Happy High Herbs Float Awards are on again. A Mardigrass Comedy Cabaret on Saturday night is planned for the Town Hall. We are hopeful Bob Dylan will judge the Buskers Comp but he is not confirmed. The Bluesfest and Easter is the weekend before Mardigrass this year so we expect quite a few people to attend both. Pot Art entries can be brought into the HEMP Bar (if they fit!) and will be displayed in cafes around the village. The Big Question? We inspected Peace Park, the Home of the Hemp Olympix, and expect no dramas fitting in with the new skatepark which should be well and truly finished by then. It looks like a MardiGrass Skatecomp will in fact become a new Hemp Olympix Gold Medal event though we havn't quite worked out the details! Is there a Nimbin Skaters Club? Please come to a MOB meeting! The Peace Park Main Stage will be repositioned closer to Sibley Street we expect. So far the music line up is: OKA, Anarchist Duck, King Farook, CC The Cat, Nathan Kaye, elseWhere, Bertha Control, The 50 bags, Irie Knights, Pagan Love Cult, Kaptan Reefer, Nigel Mctrustry, A French Butler Called Smith, Fyah Walk, John dourvis, Johny Ganja and a few more to throw in the mix bowl.. MardiGrass 2011 has been inspired by Proposition 19 in California. Even though the vote was lost, cannabis law reform got a lot of attention and we will be doing our best this year to bring Australia up to date with what's happening in North America. Dr Bob Melamede will be at MardiGrass again with new evidence on cannabis eradicating cancer and another director from Cannabis Science Inc. Activists Alison Myrden, Lisa “Mamakind” Kirkman from Skunk Magazine and Englishman Frank Kirk are booked in as is Sandra Kanck, former leader of the Democrats in SA Parliament. Regular supporters Dr's Alex Wodak, Paul Wilson and Andrew Katelaris are all coming and we hope to have some local industrial hemp crops to play with and hear about now NSW farmers can plant hemp seed. Tickets: http://archives.hempembassy.net/hempe/hempshop/MardiGrass.html MARDIGRASS 2011 ALL WEEKEND PASS AND CAMPSITE $100 $50 Weekend MardiGrass Golden Bud Pass gives entry to all events Friday, Saturday and Sunday $50 per person for a Campsite with toilets and showers for Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights Extra nights camping $15 each One Day MardiGrass Bush Pass for Sat or Sunday events $25 Links: Mardi Grass 11 Program http://australianhempparty.com/

How much land is needed to sustain a family?
vual replied to kadakuda's topic in Sustainable Technologies & Ethical Living
i know people who run permaculture farms on 5acres and support there entire family from it. 5 acres gives room for sheep and pigs, if you were relying on just permaculture a acre of well done permaculture would suffice. permaculture is the answer, it cant be done without permacultre, to much work otherwise. -
no idea but i love free stuff... http://unicornbags.com/store/product_info.php/cPath/24/products_id/31 Above is the link for those interested you will have to pay $5 postage..

Ethnobot knows all, doing some mods to this "information bot" hopefully i will have it reporting new posts from the corroboree to the irc channel by tonight. The old ethnobot was just a slap together basic python script, since the other day i have found a open source bot engine written in python, very powerful. Current commands are: .wik blah (to search Wikipedia) .ety blah (to get the etymology of a word) .dict (to get a dictionary reading of the word) .taunt (random taunts, rather amusing at times) .c ### + ##### (calculate) Working on: .trivia (a ethno based trivia game, i might even donate prizes if we get alot of people hanging out) .sab A function to read from the corrobores RSS feeds maybe and post new topics on the irc chan. If you know python come into irc and help me, otherwise come on in and have a chat. cya there,
