  1. I am the same torsten. Keep 240 V as far away from my water supplies as is possible. For the price i just cant justify it. HPS may use more juice but only cost me $150 so i have probably 24 months of 12/12 cycles (if i was that way inclined) before the HPS ends up costing more than the LEDs and in the meantime the extra growth in my products would more than substitute the costs. I am not saying LEDs dont work i am just saying not as well as other technologies as it still is in the very early stages of development. However ow that companies are actually tailoring LED decks to suit growing i have no doubt the tech will come a long way very quickly Friends have grown cannabis with LEDs and you can see the plants not quite loving it. May be low quality gear i am not sure but either way it was the equivalent of a fluoro tube as far as growth rates were concerned, If you can build your own out of QUALITY parts i would recommend that a thousand fold. and never import dodgy ebay shit from china :D its cheap for a reason aye.

You make a good point blood trance fusion. My project is ready to run with the database setup and ready for image uploads just needs content really. Maybe setting it up as a private site would be a good idea ;) even just the image galleries would be good and once it has been positively ID'd a mod could then input the plant name like set it up so that all users can upload images with their thoughts on what it could be. but only ones of a certain rank can actually name the plants for sure i.e. set it up with a users table consisting of Username Password Rank and a images table consisting of Image PlausibleName ConfirmedName Description Editor this is primitive but would work easily

    neem vs scale

i agree with PD, larger part is likely where it was resting on another plant or sunburn or something similar. try toothbrushing the little bits of scale off first to keep it at bay a bit. I have neem here never tried it for scale though. edit: looks alot like the little fella i found at bunnings labeled as a T. Peruvianus just a bit darker in colord

heh yeah i noticed that too after having replied... Never the less my opinion was still valid. I have been working on a similar project and hoping to include close up macro shots of each part of each plant neccesary for ids including a scale. This i find is the hardest part of identifying trying to look at hundreds of sites that have mislabeled plants on them :S If there could be a page for each with a picture and description for each of the following overall photo of tree photo of bark including descriptions of distinctions from other Acacia Phyllodes - whole phyllode and close up of veins including scale for measurements as well as text pointing out variations such as if it is glabrous or hairy, average vein, glands numbers etc, angles of the apex etc etc similar to what is on offer at http://plantnet.rbgsyd.nsw.gov.au except the RBG doesnt offer as much detail in its pictures. flower arrangement, color, shape and size including pictures of immature, mature and pollenated flowers. Seed pods, shape, color etc seeds shape color etc. as well as all the other information such as what time of year it flowers, how to germinate, if it takes from cuttings etc. Because what really hinders people from being able to ID plants is that they dont know what half of the terms mean. If they have pictures explaining it exactly there is no excuse ! to build something like this would be quite easy from a web development point of view. however as stated above would need some top notch mods to help with maintenance. I might kick my old project in the guts and get it going again. I have the database and interactivity setup all i really need it so add a skin to it and add some content. Might start with the major Acacia and consider moving onto other ethnos and so forth down the track

dude its just displaying the file contents... are you making it an uploadable site ?? like... where is the index.php .htaccess etc etc... i dont understad what the site is actually meant for ?? like... you need to slap together some html a few php create scripts and an upload form...
  9. first of all i will link youu to the information i will be referring to http://www.worldwidewattle.com/speciesgallery/podalyriifolia.php?id=17860 Now i have been reading up on these as i have germinated what i thought was a crapload of podalyriifolia. However i have noticed that a majority of these trees have both the silvered leaves and green leaves. Originally i just assumed that the green leaves were last seasons and the silvered were new growth. But upon further inspection i notice it is as though there is a perfect line drawn accross the tree and half are green half are furry and silvery. Now on that page it states however the seed pods gathered clearly match those of the podalyriifolia. I guess what i am asking is whether or not it is common for A. Podalyriifolia to have both green and silver leaves ??? these have BOTH the silver and green leaves on them its wierd, i will try to get a picture. Furthermore i noticed that reportedly tryptamines in the leaf, says Shaman Australis added that info so i would assume someone here would know more. Also the bark contains 0.5-2% in fresh bark. now thats a decent amount. anyone experimented ?? if not I have 4 at my dads in giant planter bags from 5ish years ago that someone might do an extraction on and pass me the details. and finally, anyone from the gold coast know what species is flowering everywhere around pac pines and nerang lately with the little cylindrical flowers. phyllodes are 28mm wide and 150mm long and have 6-7 clearly visible veins. again ill get some pics of this one later

    Another Bush Wander

Well i relaly have no idea where to start looking with these guys and am hoping that through slowly figuring out how to distinguish ROUGHLY different types i will be able to ID better, In the meantime i will carry on posting here with my topics full of wierd and wonderful pics, hoping to be pointed in the right direction. Much thanks to those who help me BTW Now i found TYPE #1 - found in VERY VERY wet flood prone area under and around Various natives and several lomandra etc... growing only in the little sunny clearing though not in the bushy area itself ;) literally hundreds of these lining this little area. Cool to find out what they are as they are fairly common around here it would seem now i have started paying attention. ______________________________________________________________________________ TYPE #2 - this lot was just growing in grass. this patch almost always gets these lil fellas after the rains... they look pretty cool too. I have trolled all the locals and it KIND OF looks like P. Foensicci but the way the caps end up folding right upwards and the distinctive dark lines doesn't seem to match... Didn't pick any for sporeprinting *oops* will do so tomorrow i think. ______________________________________________________________________________ Found in bushy environment near the first listed ones... this time growing directly off a stick, looked like a flower at first, pretty growth until they get all yuck and discoloured. cool birdsnesty shape

smokable lsa's from common house plant!!!

I know i am gravediggin here but there is a crapload of Cyperus involucratus invading bushland near my place as well as some smaller varieties of some sort in my yard... Wondering if anyone has experience with the C. Involucratus ??? they grow in HUGE clumps and are a declared weed here. Root system is pretty big on em, but they are growing in very moist ground like the edges of temporary watercourses and stuff... so should be easy enough to get some out... i will get pictures in the future but i am positive on the ID after looking online the one in my original post wont grow much taller tahn 30-40cms while these ones are bulky and as tall as me. all are flowering ATM too, lil fluffy bits on top also the other cyperus which is designated a weed in my area matches the one i got in the original photos but can't find much ID information For anyonw interested i think it is Cyperus teneristolon

    Possible Amanita Pantherina

Craploads of these growing locally here mate, Gold Coast. In very moist areas... subtropicalish forest. can't seem to find anything about whether they are edible though, can anyone answer... i will continue researching but if someone has the knowlege in their expansive minds would mae it easier all i can find is ways to ID them :'( at second glance mine are different completely... white with brownish spots... opposite basically.

    Ipomoea Id.

yeah they don't seem to seed either, i couldn't find a single seed on the whole patch (nearly 100M long) flowers are pretty though, this one will just stay in its little pot near the front door i think.... hehe yea he loves it, only 3 and already repotting plants on his own and stuff. Smart one he is loves the garden and plants, forever asking what this plant and that plant and this bug and that bug are. its great !!! my lil' apprentice

    Ipomoea Id.

well a while back i found a large morning glory vine growing along the ground and over grass on a hill. brought a cutting home and about a months later its throwing out flowers i am pretty sure it is an I. Purpurea but not 100% sure... notice how the leave start off looking like a space ship and end up love heart shaped at the end... its wierd... if you follow the stems it is like looking at an evolution chain... each one slowly more filled out than the next. brugmansia aurea in the background, got mauled by cabbage moth caterpillars :'(
  15. ok so these were a few cuttings given to me a year or two ago by some friends. Never found out what they are and now my first one is starting to get sick, and i need too figure out what it is. getting these little brown dimples/brown spots on it, appears as though its moisture related almost looks like acid burn type shit, as well as yellowing leaves. only in shitty cheap potting mix and i haven't been fertilizing them enough lately (maybe the cause of yellowing) The guy told me it was a "night cactus" or some crap no idea why or if it is relevant in any way. i just love the way the new centre branch is growing, with ribs for strength i will get some close ups tomorrow morning. also the other one(first pic) is just some crazy thing that grows everywhere around here its pretty cool

    ID these please regular cacti

Hey guys i am getting some really wierd growth from my epiphyllum. It has just had it's last flush of flowers from what i can see and has started getting these wierd long round stems. the rest of it has grown from blades but these are a single stem which still has areola that have two tiny hairs coming out of them. i have three of these stems growing presently. the first two are between 30 and 45cms pointing straight up and there is another one growing sideways its about 15cms. You will notice the other blade growing up in the air has grown normally but these dont seem to be getting any form of "flat" branching at all. it is wierd and cool. I love the color though. starting to go green now at the bottom. Anyone else grow epiphyllums and know what i can expect from these new branches ? tip of one of the new "growths areola close up, can faintly see hairs etc shot of the whole plant

that view from htat cacti area is awesome. would love to put a chair up there and sit having a couple of pipes as the sun goes down on the beautiful property. Woulld be a great relaxation place. the acacias look good and healthy there mate good shit and that giant cacti looks like one just around the corner from my work which i have been s coping out. asked for a cutting they said yes they want the branches leaning on the fence taken down as they are knocking the fence down... huuuuuuuge columns cant wait ;D:D also a quick question, is the A. Accuminata a brighter green than mos tother acacias ??? i have seen afew like that flowering round here lately, they seem to be a more vibrant shade of green tot he other acacias.
  20. while i haven't "studied" SQL i have pretty in depth knowlege of SQL if you send me thru a copy of what you have to do i might be able to give oyu a hand. I have been doing SQL/PHP interactivity for years as a "home-web-designer" SQL is an old beast that needs a revamp.

Is Meow Meow the new Ecstasy?

That is going to do wonders for the legality of Khat in aus all this going around the media. Once there is a scene someone has to "make a stand". I wish there was never an ecstasy shortage that way meow would have stayed away for a bit longer... Might have to make sure i take and root some cuttings too ensure i don't have to worry about trying to source again. Let me know what the ACA thing is like as i will be working !

    prickly lettuce

to get the most out of it i try to pinch a branch at the base and tear downwards... this will reveal a fair bit of "flesh" and subsequently milk. As doing this to most stems will fuck the plant up completely don't do it if you wanna keep it growing... Also, as mentioned above snap the stem off in 2-3cm increments and allow to bleed. I personally like to use 4-5 razorblades liquid nails'd to a piece of timber to make a crapload of cuts at once and come back an hour or so later to collect... The main reaosn for coming back in an hour is so i can get around and massacre some more before coming back to the first one, as well as a smoke break and so on :D there are a few different types around my area i might take a look at some and get some piccys today for identification purposes for both me (for the ones i dont know) and everyone else (for the ones i do)) edit: from what i have found personally and in reports online you may get sharp muscle pains by using the whole plant whereas the extract seems to, for the most part, not get this crappy side effect. Not too sure why. anywho
