    the opium poppy pokemon.

i play pokemon too, its a fun game, what more can i say. My emulator on ipad gets a real work out when a new one is released !!! LOL at the pokemon though, Sounds just like how i "imagine" opium to be and has the resemblance of a poppy pod with floating legs that my gnome explains to me while he is on shrooms.

A plug for the SAB shop

++ It isn't major, but it would appear have the same OCD streak xD I have to admit though i am getting the hang of being able to push the things that bug me from my mind LOL Pretty sure it is just in one of the settings files in oscommerce that you define fonts in various sections, though i may be wrong been a while since i delved into it... A Folderwide search and replace for "Times New Roman" in dreamweaver would fix this in a few seconds though ! [/offtopic]

A plug for the SAB shop

i agree, the key part for me is in relation to legalities even of plants they don't have in stock the elgal info is still there ! No Near Mullumbimby, But we drive down occasionally Check This Link For Nursery Location ! Yup, got a nice big Cartha down there for a cheap as price. The wealth of first hand information is truly awesome. So many awesome plants there and some are getting so huge... [caps spree] BUY MORE PLANTS FROM THE STORE PEOPLE [/caps spree] I will be hoping to make another trip down in the not too distant future to get some more goodies. Are you allowed to stock Narrow leaf catha still T, or has catha officially been outlawed for sale ? If there are any going i would love for some to be set aside for me !!! Also another great thing about the nursery is being able to wander and compare plants is far easier than trying to sift through the webstore to find what you are looking for. You never know you might even find some that aren't listed in the webstore ;) One reccomendation for the webstore would be ability to search by common names and/or native names. May already be able to but i haven't found it. Not that it's a big deal now i have been studying up for a while i know most of the scientific names rather than the common names

    My Trade List

hehe i know that feeling. Will be trying to get the Xanthhorea macronema goinjg though shourtly if i have any success will let you know. They were pretty rampant in the area i gathered the seed so they shouldn't need fire treating or anything is my thoughts

    My Trade List

natives are all seed, sorry tripsis. Although if you want some i can have tubestock within a couple of months. I have some Acuminata Germinating as we speak so far got 5 up out of the small batch. All the actual plants for sale are a variety of sizes from tubestock size to quite large specimens. Although my numbers are low ATM as most of my duplicates are on the gold coast. However i am making a trip down this time enxt month and can send off any that people want. the first three lists are seed the second three are plants

    Is my cactus sick?

pups underground can be left. it will breach the surface in its own time. you can take it off it needed but i hate taking smaller pups, more chance of losing them.

    Is my cactus sick?

if the aesthetic damage bothers you cut the pup off let it callus and then plant the "damaged" section just below the surface leaving only the "healthy" part exposed. However as Archaea has said it is fine and doesn't look like scale or any other serious damage so it wouldn't be necessary this is just a way to hide the older growth. I would recommend a more cacti-friendly soil mix though if possible (better to pot it into good soil now than when it is big and beastly and heavy as you will end up with spines all through your arms and hands when its big) Wrap in newspaper then a thick cloth for transplanting to avoid this) edit: you will also notice suberin is to protect from water, which would really indicate that it would prefer a freely draining soil. Expect to find another pup under the ground somewhere as well when transplanting

    Deleted :(

Yeah there is the three. Ruderalis, Indica and Sativa. But generally they are all associated as one aside from minor differences. And with the easy cross breeding i would honestly say there is no true difference between the lot anymore. From the looks of those leaves though i would say sativa. More than 5 fingers and large long leaves. also large gaps between the nodes are generally indicative of sativa. Growers are very familiar with cannabis "Balls" they are great for breeding but crap if you are looking for a harvest. Also indica is generally naturalized to pakistan although the "weedy" (pun intended) growth could suggest they are introduced. Edit: first piccy looks very much like an indica dominant strain though nice fat leaves On another note brilliant gallery some top notch pics and well worth the time to look through ! keep up the travels and the updating us with images.

    bongs

hehe hookers at the markets. **hookah (i think even my spelling is wrong i think it was the principal... i.e. they encourage the "safe" use of hard drugs whereas they demand tokers create their own out of plastic which adds to the damage ROFL, probs chasing down my trail. yeah i have seen one made with a plastic bag before too called a lung... really wierd design which i found to be flawed as i was sure the cherry would puncture a hole in the bag but basically just a coke bottle cut in half with a plastic bag taped to it. you then slowly pull the bag out and it sucks the cone for you and then once done you inhale and smoke goes down. I will have to try and find pics of one of my old ones (from back when they were legal *cough*) i made it from a veggiemite jar siliconed to a piece of soft "bendy" pipe with a small hose running out of the bendy pipe and connecting to the mouthpiece of a chillum. The best home made double chamber i have ever used. the chillum meant no burning plastic which made it a lot nicer on the lungs. and thin pipe made it pull slowly which helped minimise bubbling and vaporizing water which would help the lungs. as for others the generic gatorade works for me but i prefer the new orchy juice bottles. Much more portable ! Not that i use them but if i was too then the portability would definitely be a plus. check out my attached paint picture its a dodgy picof how chillum double chamber worked. i know my artistic skills are lacking xD also note it is our of proportion. the chillum is pretty much stuck to the bottle to allow it to balance better. hence the super bendy mouthpiece as well to help with the balance factor (although chillum sits at the same level as the veggimite base i sitll like to keep my centre of gravity central

    Normal plants (mostly)

exactly. If you can run it without overheads then you can easily beat the bigger nurseries. I have done something similar over a few years building a stock of rather large mother plants. Some that i have foiund being sold at ridiculously high prices which are extremely easy to cultivate include:- - Euphorbia Trigona - Crassula Tetragona - crassula ovata - Portulacaria Afra - Agave (they pup like crazy!!!) these are just the succulents. others to consider include Gingers, acacia tubestock, bromeliads, xanadu, frangipanis (once you get a big tree you can expect 50+ cuttings per season which will steadily increase by around 20% per season you prune them) etc etc. As stated above anything that looks "cool" or unique will sell quite well especially if it is at the right price. as well as this live herbs and spices always sell well and considering around 1,000 seeds will cost you between $1 and $5 from bunnings, crazy clarks or somewhere similar you can make a decent amount off these even selling for $1 each. or what i like to do is get the little seedling pot sets that have six holes and plant 6 individual herbs in it and sell for $3-6 or so. Stuff like this can make you a lot more than you would think ! I also approached a few local nurseries and got lucky with a few hundred free pots which were "used" i have cleaned them all and now have a heck of a lot of pots. (750 + small and probably around 100+ larger pots) A cheap option for dirt would be your local tip, they do trailer loads of mulch for around $10-20 here which you can dig through to get to the already decomposing goodness underneath. This mixed with a bit of other stuff to help with water retention make a damn cheap soil mix. There are many options but i have opted for "permaculture" plants mainly i.e. plants that wont need you to look after them :D

    catha?

I would say not... more of a purple color rather than the deep red of my experience with catha. Check these pics for an idea of what to look for (i.e. serration in the leaves) both are from my blog and the pics are pretty recent. But as you can see there is mostly green with a reddish tinge to the serration and fresh growth.

    Help with Acacia Identification

cool link. Shame it doesn't have search functions or the ability to load in a more easily viewable format... Scrolling through that list is quite tedious i mean sure i can ctrl + s but if i knew the name i wouldn't be searching for it Lots of pretty pictures though The pics are nice and clear though which i like. With a bit of work it could be a heck of a good resource ! When the pics are used alongside the detailed descriptions on the ANBG site or similar it could make things nice and easy. Although from what i read in the footer and from the look of the site it appears as though a Scalper was run to extract info from wikipedia ? i may be wrong though. edit: ooooh its like a phone version of wikipedia. no wonder it is setup like it is silly me

smokable lsa's from common house plant!!!

same I am finding that now i let the cyperus flower i can't get rid of it. They get thousands of seeds per plant i swear(maybe an exaggeration). All pots within 3M of the original now have cyperus of some description growing out of them. As well as this the pond up here (maryborough) in the main garden is surrounded by what appears to be a non-invasive cyperaceae of some sort as well as this there are numerous gardens in the area containing the same plant. SWIM tried the roots of the one in my backyard and it had am interesting taste. slightly uplifted spirits but wouldn't go as far as to say LSA like, possibly placebo, although his ability to feel slight effects was somewhat hampered by his incessant weed smoking at the time. He has had a break for a few months from green and now may be a good time to try again. I might have to dig him some up in the near future.

    any unfulfilled trades?

pretty sure you were going to send me a pachanoi pup and something else. don't know what the something else was but TBH its all good. I have done the same to many people and feel pretty bad about it if your a bit stretched for cash or anything don't worry bout it i am not losing sleep and can wait till you have got your shit sorted fully life throws some challenges though that are sometimes hard to get through with your memory intact xD I will pm you my details and just forward whenever you can. No rush. All the best, DS.

    Help with Acacia Identification

for future reference as well mate in these areas these are the most widely used plants and good ones to research straight up if they don't quite match the plants with goodies in em ;) - A. Disparrima - A. Fimbriata - A. Melanoxylon - A. Leiocalyx

    Help with Acacia Identification

agreed. Leiocalyx is planted by government organizations in reveg areas etc heavily around SE-QLD (particularly Gold Coast and Brisbane). i actually have a few hundred seeds on me. First thing to check when identifying IMO if you are unsure between a few is to check the flowering timeframes. This generally helps to make an ID positive ;) although i often fail in making definitive IDs this is one key point that has helped me the few times i HAVE made a positive id. Also Podalyriifolia grow rampant on the gold coast, i would go as far as to call them a weedy species, We get a similar species up where i have just moved too (wide bay area) which has the same leaf styles but they are much narrower and a fraction longer. Had a mental blank of the name but i think i brought it up in one of my previous ID threads. They are far less weedy from what i have heard (if you are looking at ornamental cultivation) edit: i think the one i am talking about is A. cultriformis will have to go have another look to confirm though hard to ID from the pictures in my head lol

    Nymphaea caerulea?

Yeah i have been thinking along the lines of the inflatable boat i just need to find a clearer pond, with all the trees overhanging this one i worry about puncturing and sinking. I can swim really well but this thing is covered in some other type of weedy water plant that is completely taking over and you cant even see the water so i would probably get tangled and drown :S i agree, and the flavor is really nice too. I would love to get some actually to see if it would combat the taste of Smoking Calea. Better get to it before they stop coming up, if the bloody rain would stop.

First commercial jetpack is 'just months away'

The theory may be old but there hasn't really been a practical working option. This looks really promising. That thing would need some serious fail safes to stop it spiraling people to their death. I find the fact they have pretty much fit two small airplane props into a backpack unit awesome. And now they have a working solid base to build off the technology will explode and move forward at incredible rates. Can't wait to see future developments.

    Hydroponic Ethnobotanicals

Most of my ethnos are shade lovers so i probably wouldn't use a hydro light on them TOO much. however i am sure a decent nutrient feed would be beneficial for all plants. I am experimenting with H&G Root Excelurator for my psychotria leaf cuttings and branch cuttings to see if there is notable difference. You could try some 48W CFLs temporarily. Build a little light deck with maybe 1 or 2 of them and then see how the plants handle the cfls grandually moving the lights closer. Preparing your plants for the HPS would be pretty important if they are used to a not very sunny environment, Hence i recommend the low discharge CFLS t begin with

    Catha Edulis Red Cuttings

Well many of you have told me i wouldn't be able to do this but to be honest i am wondering if it is all a big uproar to make people buy the plants instead of trying propagation :D 4/4 catha edulis red have survived to the 10 day mark and this one is now starting to further develop its smaller leaves which says to me it has begun rooting. They have been sitting under half coke bottles My Basic Catha Edulis Propagation Guide

    Nymphaea caerulea?

Truth be told i have found that we keep them pretty much all year here on the gold coast with he exception of the 4-8 coldest weeks. But not as many will flower. I have found the blue to be far more common but would love to try and taste some of the pink as i haven't done so as yet. I love the way the flowers change color as time goes on its beautiful too see a pond of all varied color flowers. I have found some ponds here that are literally covered in them ! From experience they make a beautiful smoking admixture with a sweet ever so faintly aniseed like flavor. considering i hate licorice they taste wonderful. and planthelper, do you mean flowers that haven't opened yet at all ? like fresh buds ? is there a reason i.e. sun degrades the active chemicals or something ? if only they grew closer to the banks instead of right out in the middle ! and the seedy looking ponds they grow in i dont trust for swimming. Fortunately my pond has 50M tall clumping bamboo next to it so i can easily make a hook !
