  1. very interesting ubza, my 2 or 3 experiences with amanita have either been underwhelming or highly unpleasant. But in reading your post I see my preparation and dose may have been insufficient.

I'm reading John Rush's book "The mushroom in christian art" and Allegro's "Sacred mushroom and the cross" at the moment, and it puts forward a pretty good case for amanita being an important sacrament in early christianity. And of course there is Wasson with his theory of amanita as soma from the vedas. From your experience, can you envisage amanita being worthy of this adoration? It never seemed to fit for me as the psilocybin experience seems so much more profound in that it can initiate the "contact with aliens" experience, see other worlds etc.

Could you elaborate a bit more on the experience? Was it mainly a euphoria, or was their a sense of the "other" there as well, as with psilocybin mushrooms?

  2. I had a fascination with hinduism and the Vedas a few years ago, particularly the Eternal Mother Goddess Kali, or Kalika.

    post-6519-0-39319000-1305929317_thumb.jp

Kali is considered the creator and destroyer of worlds, and I feel is therefore particularly relevant to the current global predicament where the dawn of new age or world of enlightenment and return to the feminine is eminent.

In hindsight, I would have chosen a more light hearted name such as YipYip, in reverence to the sesame st aliens that haunted my childhood :)

  3. Heres a few of the better artists I can remember off the top of my head, all thrown in some loosely outlined genres for ya (I know I've missed a stack good ones, but I could keep on going for ever if I tried to include them all)

A nice selection you got there! thanx for putting the time in to put all those links up :) sun control species is also good, progressive psy/house?

I think everyone reading this thread should stop what they are doing and play their favourite psy track, whateva genre, as loud as possible! I call it neighbourhood music appreciation

  4. Governments gleefully accept their advice, because the only ways to curb emissions are to impose taxes and extend government control over all energy use. And to curb emissions on a world scale might even lead to world government — how exciting for the political class!

I don't agree taxes are the only way to curb emissions. Continued research into alternative energy sources such as geothermal, solar, hydroelectric etc will eventually make these technologies competitive in the market place, especially as carbon based fuel sources begin to run out.

He makes clear he understands that CO2 is indeed a “greenhouse gas”, and makes the point that if all else was equal then yes, more CO2 in the air should and would mean a warmer planet.

But the issue is not whether carbon dioxide warms the planet, but how much.

But it didn’t increase the height of the moist air around the planet as subsequent studies have shown since that time. However, that theory or premise became the heart of the modeling that was done by the alarmist crowd.

Surely climate scientists should be forgiven for being alarmist given that the issue at hand is the fate of all life on Earth. Given that Venus and Mars, our nearest neighbours are both devoid of life and both have CO2 based atmospheres, shouldn't we be cautious about releasing carbon into the atmosphere?

I find the skeptic position on this issue hard to understand given the high stakes of destabilising the atmosphere. When articles such as these point to world domination as the purpose behind governments tackling carbon emissions, it makes the skeptic position appear pretty flimsy. To me anyway, I find conspiracy theories hard to swallow.

  5. thanks Shroom-Aura, I have reduced the image size. I need to work out how to do macro shots properly! It's fun to practice anyhow.

There is so much variation amongst the photos presented online for the different panaeolus species that its hard to make any definitive ID. I pinched the stem a bit last night and this morning it looks much darker than yesterday, so will definitely keep my eye out for any more.

  6. Found a single specimen of this mushroom in the front yard. The mottled cap and dark gills and spores caught my eye, I don't often see many like these in SE QLD (growing in grass that is - lots of panaeolus cyanescens in dung). It fits the classic panaeolus description to me. Any idea of the species? Thanks.

    edit: reduced image size

  7. it is an expansive property, it's cold at night out there obviously, prepare for fucking cold, also don't wander into the underbrush unless you want to come out looking like a walking cobbler's peg

yeah, quite a good property for a massive festival really

cool thanks for the heads up, if I see a walking cobbler's peg I will know where they have been :P anyone going?

  8.

Southern Oracle is on next weekend, just outside of Warwick. It was probably this one you saw advertised, they have had a few posters around brizzie. Line up looks pretty good, never been to the venue though... if this awesome weather keeps up it could be worth a drive B)

  9. Walnut, Date and nutmeg cookies

    Ingredients:

    225 gm whole wheat flour

    1 cup dates, chopped

    1 cup walnuts, chopped

    200 gm butter, melted

    1 egg

    3/4 cup brown sugar

    50mL sour cream

    2 tablespoons local honey

    2 tsp baking powder

1 large whole, fresh nutmeg, chopped finely

    1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon powder

    Preparation:

    1. Sieve the flour and baking soda together. Mix in the chopped dates, walnuts, nutmeg and cinnamon.

    2. Cream the sugar, honey and melted butter, add egg and sour cream when it has cooled, beat thoroughly.

    3. Stir in the flour mixture. Mix the ingredients together until well combined.

    4. Make balls with your hands and flatten the balls with your palm.

    5. Bake at 180 degrees for about 20 minutes or until golden brown.

    Makes 24 cookies

A nice, mild nutmeg buzz can be felt after 2 or 3 cookies. A good way to put unsuspecting housemates in a good mood on a sunday morning :)

  10. I actually was thinking about this just yesterday as I watered my acacia, psychotria and banisteriopsis plants. As I watered I said to the acacia, "here mate, meet your south american cousins – what do you think of them? hope it's okay they are growing here with you". The acacia indicated it was cool with a flutter of her leaves. I definitely feel a connection to the local land through the plants, especially the acacia-aboriginal-australia connection. Also gum trees have a special significance for me, when I see huge expansive forests of them all over australia it feels they are all forming a coherent single entity that transmits energy from the earth to the noosphere. I haven't felt a sense of the amazon through the psychotria and banisteriopsis plants yet, it more reinforces my sense of the local environment by observing how they adapt to it. But if morphogenetic fields exist, perhaps as they grow they will begin to transmit a sense of their ancestors and traditional habitat.

I also feel there is a certain daoistic teaching to be learnt from observing the way plants and fungi grow. They seem to try and teach us the most appropriate way to live through example – efficient use of resources, patience, and beauty.

  11. Hi

I'm fairly new in the spiritual side of life.

I am an atheist and do not believe supernatural.

However after lots of "experiments" I'm pushing the boundaries and exploring new horizons

After I found a post here about DMT and all the spiritual stories behind it I'm starting to wonder if I need a shaman to understand what I'm seeing?

Thanks for reading my post and I'll appreciate your respond

    Hi there and welcome,

Although I'm sure a true shaman could help you understand your experiences, you should have more faith in your own abilities. Even though you say you are new to the spiritual side of life, just being alive is a form of spiritualism as the spirit is an inherent part of existence. Every night you go deep into the realm that the psychedelic experience makes available to you in a more conscious way.

I came from exactly the same place, an atheist and non-believer in the supernatural -- its an amazing thing to discover the psychedelic experience from that perspective, as its totally unexpected. There is lots of literature out there that may help come to terms with these things - Terence Mckenna, Ralph Metzner, Aldous Huxley, Ram Das, to name a few good of the more well known authors. But when I look back at my journey, I sometimes wish I hadn't taken in the ideas of others so readily, as now its hard to tell which ideas are mine and which I have appropriated from others. As an individual, perhaps the most valuable thing you can offer to society is your own unique interpretation of the "other world", untainted by the suggestions of others. But I guess this doesn't help you come to terms with it as you are asking.

I guess my suggestion would be to investigate the traditional usage of the compounds. In the case of DMT, this would mean looking into ayahuasca and perhaps yopo usage in south america. I would recommend reading 'Aya: A Shamanic Odyssey' by Rak Razam, who is an excellent Australian author. He also has a podcast called 'in a perfect world' that you may find useful.

    good luck!

  12. I've been listening to Rak Razam's podcasts today,

    Stumbled upon this gem

Rak Razam's interview with Dan Schreiber

Thought some of you might enjoy it :)

yeah I really enjoyed this interview with Dan Schreiber[ too. His theories about bufo marinus being an activator of acacia tryptamine fields is pretty out there! I resonated with the idea of the self being a reflection of the universe, I think one of the examples he gave was global chaotic weather patterns being a reflection of the current human psyche. I have had very profound experiences of the natural world responding to my internal thoughts, such as the howl's of wild dogs rising and falling with my level of fear. I picture it as the physical material world, both the geosphere and biosphere, being the substrate for the mental noosphere to grow on – the physical and mental worlds are living in symbiosis with each other.

I was about to say how dodgy that guy sounds, but I was thinking of Dan Winters, from a different interview.

I was a bit dissapointed to find out about this guys court battles and plagiarism allegations after having watched the interview and then done some research.

I was skeptical about Dan winter as soon as I heard him talk, so not surprised to see he has ripped off other peoples ideas. Its strange how people are attracted to these kind of arrogant, know-it-all, charlatan types....

  13. Don't have any first hand experience, having just about sworn off the heavy hitting legal highs after a near death experience a few years ago, but as for who is profiting, well good on them I suppose for providing a tentatively legal product in light of a government's stupid law. While good quality, excellent strains of bush would be great, like in Amsterdam, its not the fault of a vendor who wants to make a dollar or two.

In saying that, the stuff you talk about is stupidly expensive, right ? As is more so than the illegal product it claims to replace...... the ingredients are kept secret, but I would guess that theyre taking the piss on he high price.

    what legal high was that?

  14. I don't know who it was, but thank for suggesting a vapouriser. I just used my new electrical one and the portable glass dome one for the first time and this is some serious change. The aroma and taste were great.

nice one, what model is it? don't forget to save the vaped herb for baked goods! you can even just eat it without cooking in oil or whatever as the heat `activates' the THC.
