  1. Woah... they don't look good :o . I'd be extremely surprised if they resurrected themselves. In fact im sure they won't.Sorry. The discolouration on the sand looks like a type of mould/fungus. The smallest i have got away with( was around 1cm) in coarse propagation sand, kept completely dry, on a warm windowsill with indirect light. Still had couple of mortalities.

    Sorry to hear your misfortune.

  2. Bought some chipped limestone just yesterday! Had to do some hunting around but found it a Ashmore garden world. Cost me $7 for a pretty decent bag. The also sell it by the metre.

I put i fine layer on the bottom of the pot for free drainage. Filled with a good quality cacti mix then put another fine layer on top.

    * I should just add that the size of the limestone i bought from Ashmore garden world. On the top of the bag were fairly chunky pieces 25mm to 30mm. With a bit of crushing or sifting through to mid-way down the bag you get some nice 10-15mm pieces.

  4. My loph has rotted. I came home the other day to find my very favourite baby half eaten by the dreaded affliction.

Turns out the drainage holes in the pot had blocked up and as I have the top dressed with scoria I never knew the soil wasn't drying out.

You can see from the photos that the damage is pretty severe. My question is: Is there anything I can do save my baby?

    Morg

Mate, a sad site to see. I know what you are going through as ive suffered the same type of rot with a few of my lophs in the past. The only advice i can give you is to cut away the majority of the rotted flesh let it dry right out then shallowly plant it in some dry sandy propagation mix. And keep dry. Once you see some roots developing give it a small amount of water and let it dry out between waterings.

Good luck man. hope she comes good for you.

  5. Hi all,

I am heading overseas indefinately and have a few (approx 30) Lophophora williamsii and var ceaspitosa available for sale.

Size range from .5cm seedlings to to clumps about 12cm across. The majority being single plants between 2-5 cms in diameter. Most are above 4 years old, have flowered and produced seeds.

I also have a selection of Trichocereus available . Approx 3 pachanoi, 3 bridgesii, a couple of bridgesii monstrose, 1 scop and some myrtillo geometrizians. Sizes are from 1 to 6 feet.

There is some succulents such as echevarias, and a few other cacti for sale too.

Along with catci i have a few other plants dotted around the garden that are up for sale to interested people.

At this stage i plan on having and open garden on a sunday between 1pm and 3pm, but would just like to know if there is any interest before i make a date. I live in the gold coast hinterland about 5 minutes off the M1.

Unfortunately i will not be offering any of these plants for sale through the post, so it will be a matter of first in best dressed on the day.

If i get a positive response from this post i will display some photos of the plants available along with a date and address to those who contact me via PM.

Thanks everyone and i hope you all have a great weekend. :)

  8. Thats kewl Auxin, I just have to get to the P.O. in person to send ur's cause postage paid envelopes are only good within Oz and I don't have stamps for sending O/S

I have ur's all packed up, just gotta stamp and post it, but I never recieved anything. It's all good though cause I found a really nice patch of cape gooseberry fruiting last week and collected myself heaps of seeds.

    anybody else???

Yeah Naja There was that 80 year old Lophophora you were going to send me and that sixty foot of bridgesii, its cool but. Next week will be fine. Ill be waiting by the letterbox :P:lol::rolleyes:

  9. Well got home this arvo to do my routine inspection of my plants and cactus to find something had been on a bit of a taste testing spree! :o

First plant i noticed that had damage was a little Lophophora i grafted onto a Pereskiopsis, almost half of it completly gone or should i say munched! Then checked my other plants close by to see that this little critter had also taken a liking to my Sceletium, my little native thai plant and a few little seedlings of the fan leaf variety

I wondered what was making all that noise last night! It sounded like a drunk rat rolling around on the pergola. What a concoction!!!And what cheeky little feind!!! This little guy has visited a few times now, first time i noticed he had taken a few fair sized chunks out of my Monstrose Brigesii and normal Brigesii since then i elevated them off the ground. It worked for a while but no he just eats whatever he can get his little claws on now. Really can i blame him though? He just wants a good time.

Ill post some pics tomorrow to show you exactly what i mean.

  10. Bunnings in Nerang. At the time i bought the pach they had T. pachanoi, T. scopulicola, and T.spachianus. I dont think they get them in very regularly.

Keep an eye out though, this warm weather might bring them in ,plus the looming level 4 water retrictions that are about to come into place in south east QLD. I imagine there would be high demand for cactus succulents and other drought hardy plants this year. :)

Oh and what is Backeberg Trip?:)

  11. Hi all,

I have two Trichocereus at home. One from SAB and one from bunnings. I have been looking at the spines closely and have noticed some difference. I was hoping someone could help me out with an accurate identification please.

These are the two in question. The one on the right is bunnings, one the left SAB'spost-626-1160971216_thumb.jpg

post-626-1160971380_thumb.jpgThis is the SAB Trich, Redish sort spines and quite a bit longer than the bunnings one

post-626-1160971858_thumb.jpgAnd this is the bunnings job, White spines, very short.

    Anyone got some suggestions?

Thank you :) EDIT- Sorry i should have been a bit clearer in my question. Yes, they are both T.pachanoi, i was just wondering why one has different spines that the other. Different locations? Age?

  12. Yeah andy the lady i have seen is very in tune with the spiritual world. I have seen her a few times and my mum sees her quite often too.I didnt get any ditsy or cheesy vibes of her.

I recently saw another elderly guy on the coast who is also a spiritual healer and can reccomend him too. No cheesyness or wacky shit. And i felt he was very genuine. I felt completly comfortable with him and really took what he said seriously. He doesnt believe in chargeing a fee but you can leave a donation if you wish. He is retired and believes he was guided to do what he does so he is not in it to make money.I made my girlfriend promise me not to buy the board after speaking to this woman this morning. She couldnt stress enough how powerful they and dangerous they can be. And when i told my girlfriend about the whole "spirits attaching themselves to you" she told me that after she used one a few years ago she felt a presence that would follow her into the bathroom and toilet, sorta like a feeling that someone else was there. I rang this lady back and told her what my girlfriend told me and she was not surprised at all! She said that when these spirits do attatch themselves they attach from the back and you feel like you are being followed. She reckons that it can really take a long time to get rid of these spirits too and that they can really mess with your life. She said just like we have bad apples here on earth you also get bad spirits that pray on the inexperienced and vulnerable.

She recommended that if you really want to contact the spirit world do it with an experienced spiritual healer that has protection from other spirit guides in a safe place with lots of positive energy.

So it is my decision to stay the hell away from this board at all costs! I dont want no evil shit attaching itself to me!

Oh and andy if you are interested in seeing one of the people i have mentioned pm me and i can give you some details.
