  1. Here is a little cactus trio I picked up from bunnings. I have seen a couple of pics on here that were trichs bought from bunnings but they were labeled trichs.

this has no I.D for any of the 3. (obviously the cactus in mention is on the right) I got the feeling from the "not intended for human consumption' that it could be a good'un. It has 6 ribs... spines 5-6mm

    Any help please?

If I have posted in the wrong section, I apologize.. Noob...

  2. you leave a bit of the stem on, as the stem and all of the fleshy veins are in fact the areas wher the roots will be formed, but don't worry, it doesn't matter where you cut viridis leave cuttings are not fuzzy in this respect.

but they are fuzzy about drying out, and the less deep you plant them the more carefull you have to be.

sealing the whole thing is the way to go, but still check on the progress at least once a week.

Ahh ok, Thanks Planthelper, I'll keep that in mind! I shouldn't have problems with drying out cos I'm going to use Rockwool cubes...

Unless one would be advised against it.. . I'll post some pics as well if I have success...Thanks again.

Also, I have a slightly different setup to Kenny, Still a heat'n'grow, but heated by a 60W incandesant bulb from the top,

(keeps a nice steady heat and works very well for other clones and germination of most seeds)

Would this be suitable for Viridis?

  3. Very nice Kenny! I'm about to do the same with my Viridis, Just wondering about the leaf cuttings, did you leave them stem intact or cut it off? I've seen pics of leaves just cut halfway up striking. With tapering off of yours in the pics, it looks as if there isn't too much of the leaf buried, Is this a certain technique? Sorry to ask so much, but this will be my first attempt at cloning Viridis, Any help appreciated!

  4. Thanks for all the tips guys!

I decided just to go at it with a toothbrush, hopefully not damaging the skin too much! I'm gonna try and only use chems as a last resort. And thanks Thunder for the tip about the ants carrying the little critters back up the cactus! I'll keep and eye out for that.

Hopefully all goes well, I guess I'll keep throwing up pics so people can see some sorta progress (success/failure).

p.s. sorry about the out of focus Peruviana

  5. very nice thread! B)

    white oil:

take a little bit of olive oil, or i guess any oil (sunflower, peanut, etc.),

    add water,

add minute ammount of dishwashing detergent,

mix all three virgorously, and a foamy thing white oil will be produced.

now if you combine all of what has been said, one might,

peel off most scale by scraping with the nail,

than treat only the affected area with white oil,

than use the tooth brush and scrub off all the scale.

make sure you get into every tiny crack (the inmature scale hides out there!!), and brush the scale off.

than wash whole cactus with handwarm water, and than keep checking on them every few day's.

most off us, would not use any chemical stuff on our cacti, it's just unethical, as you might end up eating it.

    Great advice Planthelper! thank you!

  6. sadly i don't know anything about this stuff and your post is interesting sethomopod but..... keppler was completely wrong re: planets distance from the sun. interesting guess but it didn't pan out. i do find it weird that there's a hexagon shape (very distinct) on the poles of one of the moons out there.

True, Keplar was wrong but what he did right was open the idea to other people to take it further... For a great look at some examples (especially in relation to the hexagon) check out this link. a good read

  7. ^^^^ youre a fucking funny cunt like PD...anyways hey Sethomopod can you re name your thread to be something like .."scale on my cactus ..what to use" it will make it easier to find in the search engine when others look for scale and what to do...just be nice is all...

okay carry on all you comedians.

    H.

    Can do Hunab.. Good idea..

  8. Ahh Sacred Geometry!! Something alot more people should get into, especially musicians. Sacred Geometry in a nutshell is the relationship between Maths and the Universe, So much so, that once you get a grasp of it, you start seeing utter perfection everywhere, (architecture /engineering, mundane things that have 'God' in them) Another branch of this thought is the relationship between Music-Maths-Universe, Now this is really interesting stuff eg Ratios relate to chords 4:3/Perfect fourth 5:4/Major third 3:2/Perfect fifth etc. then these mathematic 'distances' correlate to distances between certain planets in our solar system! Amazing shit!! Applied to music, it could be said that playing these chords together can in a way be like dancing between the planets!.... check out anything to to with The Music of the Spheres (Musica Mundana), The Pythagorean comma. Keplar.

  9. Hello Everyone,

Please have a look at the pics a tell me what you think.. :(

I cant see any bugs or critters that might be making it.

I say this because it comes off like a scale when you scrape it with your thumbnail.. just like 'scale' found on Mangoes....

It has spread fairly quickly and I'm starting to get worried!!

    Any help is appreciated!!!

  10. Another good method is to grind some seeds and sit them in a glass of pineapple juice (pineapple masks the taste very well. almost pleasant)

for 24 hrs in the fridge. this extracts all the goodness. A thing to remember is to sip it over a hour.

swim did the mistake of gulping it down and was feeling nauseous within 10 mins!!!

then was attached to the couch for 3 hrs (powerful sedation!) only moving to vomit and wipe off the litres of sweat!!!

this was 8 seeds. First timers 3-5 depending on freshness as stated above.

If it is a LSA experience one were looking for, I would recommend Ololuiqui (Rivea Corymbosa) It is MUCH cleaner.

Again, freshness is key where anything from 30 -300 seeds are used. I personally know a lad who had 250 with a couple of tabs of X.

was trippin balls, (and this guy is a freakin psychonaut!)

wouldnt do that unless your experienced..

30 fresh ololuiqui seeds is pleasant for a 1st time

  11. I am having the same problems with slow growth with my P. Viridis aswell. Would anybody out there be able to tell me actual growth rates (centimetres per year maybe?) of a healthy and happy P.Viridis? It would be helpful for comparison as I'm a first time grower of the special little plant
