  3. hey there! I bought a couple of nice Obtusifolia saplings off Meanies, (hoping you can help buddy) which were perfectly healthly when I got them. After being in a pot for a couple of months, I noticed 2 leaves fused together, I pulled them apart to discover something has been munching away between the leaves! There was a white fuzzy 'seam' around the area they have eaten, and little black balls just inside the white fuzz. I couldnt find any threads with the same critters.. Anyone seen them before? I'm in North QLD, If that helps. Thanks in advance!

  4. OK..so..frequency, constancy, universality, infinity, principles, Shiva, Shakti, trika, representation, self-reflection, self-consciousness...

All these terms posit some entity be it abstract or concrete, that figures pre-analysis to the explanation of consciousness.

My thought is: Are you all really happy with that situation? That consciousness can really be constructed from those terms? Which are you more sure of? The premises or the conclusion?

This is a good point Thelema..("All these terms posit some entity be it abstract or concrete, that figures pre-analysis to the explanation of consciousness". Sorry, I dont know how to highlight parts of quotes.) I would love to hear any other theories...I guess this is why the greatest minds havent answered this question...(Like trying to quantify "GOD") I think it is in our mortal make-up to pre-analyze, even if it is a choice to then dis regard the analysis for the best of reasons.. From the moment of our conception, we are in the hands of "a beginning and an end". we know nothing else while we are flesh. This is why our little minds cant integrate INFINITY. The same reason all religions humanize the creation of the universe,, to allow our little minds to nearly, just nearly almost begin to glimpse the shadow of understanding it all... to put it in terms we understand...... Just like what you said,,,,, abstact or concrete, we are somehow trying to explain something that cannot be understood with our conventional faculties..... What are your thoughts?

I hope we are on the same page??

  5. Not really........ C'mon man ! That's a big statement.

Let me ask you.. Do you play the guitar? by your post above I assume you do.., Are you any good?

Are you aware of the multitude of musicians spanning ALL musical genres who play Les Pauls? by your post above I assume you do..

Please let me in of a bit of your musical background and why you think my "big statement" is incorrect before I unleash paragraphs of examples of who played em, who was influenced by those people who played them, You have touched a nerve of mine.. (i really do hope you play, or are a competent musician, a least a little weight to your argument)

If you would like to continue this debate, I say we start a little personal thread so as to not be disrespectful of peoples wishes to pay their respects...

edit: I forgot to note your selective highlighting of quotations.. Big difference dude.........

-IN A WAY, he has shaped music as we know it-

-He has shaped music as we know it....-

also,, You are questioning the man who invented multitrack recording!!! And you think that my statement is bold?? The beautiful stereo imaging and clarity of individual instruments the you hear evertime you listen to your favourite music IS BECAUSE LES PAUL EXISTED!!! Can you tell me of any other professional recording techniques used? You cant, can you? And you think he hasnt ("in a way"...... which now, I am happy to drop that prefix) shaped music the way we know it???????? You obviously lack the credentials to back up your piss weak comment...

I apologize to others who take offence to my using this thread with anger..

I have been a musician for 25 years, and I get a little emotional about this sorta stuff...

    B.Loco......

    please.....bring it on!

  6. Picture a hum without any sound

... I tend to agree.. Frequency is a universal constant, in every reach of the infinite(universe) Vibration is our window to the infinite... i.e: vibration determines matter.. how we perceive our place in the universe through all our senses which are vibrating to their own frequency.. The basic principle that a rock is always moving... just very very very slowly.. then to different layers (dimensions) of our spiritual selves.. all vibrating at different frequencies just as the universe intended... All coming together for a monumental "chord" of existence.....

so maybe........... if frequency is a universal constant........... consciousness is "our note in the chord"?... maybe a part of ourselves vibrating at a level only measurable in other dimensions? but energy, frequency nonetheless...

I'm sorry if this sounds like rambling.. Language, as intricate as it can be.. can never convey the entirety of thought..

    :)

  7. Good to see respect for this amazing man....

Anyone who plays knows the enormity of his impressions upon the musical world.. In a way, he has shaped music as we know it

    A truly great man....

    RIP Les!

  8. Don't think it's longifolia....They have straight phyllodes where this one has curved margins.

Also your climate says Nth QLD and they mainly occur in coastal NSW & upto and around QLD border

Thanks for the replies guys, I am actually about 100 kms south of brisbane at the moment, just for the weekend, Theres alot of flowering around here right now! Beautiful yellows everywhere!

  9. hey guys, i did a couple of searches and found a couple of id threads that look like this acacia. From what i gather, this is a longfolia. Im just wondering if anyone with a little more experience could confirm my suspicions. Thanks in advance! S

  10. I can give some tips for Vietnam, Been there often, The Cu Chi tunnels is well worth seeing, 250kms of underground tunnels that they hid in during the war. Up to 5 levels downs, Amazing resourcefulness! You get to walk thru a fair few, All set up with mannequins dressed in Viet Cong garb. Not for the claustrophobic! you have to squat walk thru them (and they've widened them for westerners) very hot too. Some of the home made booby traps make yours eyes water just looking at them! ALSO! If it's your thing, (It sure as hell is mine!) you have the opportunity to fire some big fuckin guns! I got to unload a mounted 30 cal belt fed (Browning?) An AK-47, an M60 (started a small fire with that!) and other rifles and pistols! You can get there from Ho Chi Minh, about 2 and half hrs. Travels guys cost alot, We hired a taxi for the whole day, it worked out cheaper and we took our own time. Ho Chi Minh is a wild place! Not enough space to go into all the fun you could have! Check out the 'westerners' district to wet your feet, The bar 'Alles vous' on the corner rocks, also check out the beef noodle soup at the cappuccino cafe (yeah, real Vietnamese name but great food!) Also the man in the pic, you WILL see if you go to this place, his name is Chinh Beer! buy him a Large Tiger beer and he can make your stay all the more fun! He's a good man. Took 5 years for me to be invited into his home! (thats a story in of its self!) Seriously, you WILL see him, take my advice and shout him a beer! Check out the war crimes museum..a very interesting place, Be prepared to see real babies with real birth defects from agent orange in jars!

Another place up a little further north is Nha Trang, I love this place! laid back beachtown, (like surfers 20 yrs ago!) This a heaven on earth! You gotta do the 4 island tour! non stop party on and in the water! I'm a little biased though, I have spent most of my time in Nha Trang, My family grow aussie mangoes in Cam Duc, about 45 mins away, so I wasnt so much the tourist. Alot of backpackers end up there so nightlife is always pumping! Gotta check out a very popular bar there called Crazy Kims, Fuckin great atmosphere, and the Lady who owns it puts alot of money into the eradication of the underage sex trade there, which unfortunately, Nha Trang has become known for. as well as education for the kids who have to sell postcards rather than go to school, (there a makeshift classroom out the back of the bar! the little boy in the pic is John Hoa, buy some postcard off him, he has respect!) Also not far from Nha Trang is the mud baths, YOU MUST GET ONE! shell out a few more bucks for the private baths, The mud is choc fulla mineral goodness! dont be shy, wash your hair with it, It'll never feel better afterwards! theres hot mineral springwater baths too! Theres so much to see and do over there, You'll have a ball!!!

My hand hurts, so I'm gonna stop typing..........

Have fun and let us know how you went!!

  11. Hey Guys, Thanks for the input... Hunab, I did think it may have been another forgotten seed too, but I had a think, and remember they were sown in fresh potting mix. And it cant be a viridis, as the 4 I own were all purchased as plants, and none have flowered yet... I'm quite certain its the caapi that germinated. The leaves are the same.. just miniature..

The link provided above had some pics from herbalistics that showed a plant ("small guy") with similar growth patterns, although his is about three times the size as mine.. I guess I will contact Herbalistics and see if it came from the same batch of seed.

Uncle Staunch, Of the 5 seeds I bought, only 1 germinated, it was the only one with a green tinge still in it.. so I don have any other to compare it too. I have 2 caapi plant and they are normal fast growing, big leafed beauties! I'm interested in your seedlings.. Smaller than this one?!! Any pics? When did you buy your seed? when did you sow it and how long did it take to germinate? sorry bout all the q's, but, if its from the same batch, That means there could be some sort of uniformity in a mutation.. Dunno....pretty interesting nonetheless!!

  12. This is dang funny cos I used to work for Sanitarium for a few years. I used to make Weet bix. I was a cooker man and a make operator

A cooker man combines the wheat, water, a syrup made of salt and sugar and Bags of niacin, riboflavin, iron, and a couple other I cant remember and pressure cooks it in these huge rotating cookers

And a make operator mills the wheat into the flakes and operates a custom machine that presses the flakes into biscuits, and goes thru the 40 metre long ovens..

Enough of my rambling, What I can offer to this thread is this.

I can tell you that the wheat is pressure cooked at 150 psi, Each cook takes 2 hours (800kg) with the longest time under pressure being 50 mins..

I have no great knowledge of ergot so I hope this helps....
