    Hello all,

    I'm posting on behalf of the forum menber RAZOR. I'm good mates with him and have finally been able to catch up and have a few beers together, being almost a year not seeing him..

    I noticed, and replied to a couple of threads a while ago about some sales and trades that had gone bad with him...I said I'd try and contact him and sort it out.. Which I did, (except for the sorting out part.)

    I feel a little bad about this as well because I vouched for him to a few people..Showing him my beautiful old vine which many of you know, and letting him take care of supplying the community each year, since I haved moved OS

    Now, in those old threads I mentioned that I was aware he was going through a rough patch.. Since coming back and actually sitting down with him, I have come to realize he was in a terribly bad place..

    He has been through a really rough ride lately and most of his life has broken down around him..He is still in alot of turmoil but thankfully he is at a stage where he can see a glimpse of light at the end of the tunnel..

    We spoke of the unfinished sales and this was a source of great pain and anxiety for him.. He knows he has wronged a few people and sincerely wants to rectify the situation.. I told him I would help..

    He didn't accept money for items he was not already in possesion of.. He had no intention of letting this get as bad as it did..He was in a dark place where the idea of leaving his house was difficult.

    He is a top bloke, just going through a rough patch, so please give him a little bit of slack.. I'm sure there are plenty of happy customers out there too

    So, There are a few people who are still waiting for items and $20

    Please get in touch with me and I will get the ball rolling and get everything out to everybody..

    Santiago, DONT listen to ANYONE!!

    You just find what is comfortable for YOU.. Learn whichever way is best for YOU..If its theory you want, you can learn theory, If you want/don't want to learn TAB, it's up to you entirely.. The way alot of these posts are turning out, sounds alot like everyone is stuck in their own ideas, which is completely cool, but some things work for some people, and some dont.. Music, like any other artform, is completely subjective.. Whatever makes you happy playing and learning, do it...

    Santiago, you are an intelligent enough person to know what will work for YOU..

    We could fill 100's of pages of debate with this subject, but NOBODY is 'right'..

    Just do what feels best for you...

    It's a beautiful, versatile and expressive instrument.

    Love for the instrument organically turns into knowledge of the instrument..

    The more you love it, the more you play, the more you play, the more you learn..

    Fantastic! A guitar thread!! This place just gets better and better!

    Dollarjuice has nailed two KEY points that you should listen to.. Alternate picking and theory.. Cant stress those enough..

    Scales are very important too.. You can get around alot with the ol' Pentatonic (ONLY to begin with!! lol Learn them all!)

    But, It is very easy to try and swallow too much information at once, and end up with a brain burst..

    You said that you are just starting and you are having fun just getting to know the sounds and feel of you guitar, I would recommend learning TAB (If you dont already know, TAB is a very easy and quick way of learning song, but still not a replacement for learning notation) and jumping on a tab website.. There are lots.. And go through and find some songs that you really like, and start learning them.. Its amazing how much you can learn just by playing music you really enjoy listening to.. It's great because you hear your fave songs come alive and have alot of fun while learning, and you start to get an insight of how the song was written, why those certain chords sound nice when played together, how melodies are laid over progressions.. things like that, which can accompany learning theory and make it easier..

    I remember just after I started,, (9 yrs old) I bought a shitty electric/amp combo (being left handed doesnt help alot there) a distortion pedal, and the TAB for Metallica's Ride The Lightning.. I couldnt put the guitar down I was having so much fun trying to play these songs that I was loving to listen to.. I learnt many things from trying to emulate that album..

    All in all, I'm saying that learning you fave songs will hopefully help alot in other aspects..

    Alot also depends on what particular style you are interested in playing.. No point spending early learning time on techniques that you wont utilize in the beginning.. (eg, sweep picking techniques if you want to play classical.. More advanced but just an eg.) Those other techniques can come later..as you become more and more addicted to the beauty of guitars, you will want to know it all!!

    re differnet styles, I am a fairly competant player, been in alot of gigging bands and what not.. I play exteme death metal (dont roll your eyes all at once!:rolleyes:), but I also enjoy Classical and Jazz.. I just stated learning a different style of playing.. involving adding percussive sound with fingerstyle.. Tapping, slapping and fingerpicking.. It blew my mind to begin with, even after playing for over 20 yrs! Still loving the learning process..

    Hungover, so hope this doesnt sound like how my head feels.... gloopy.....

    Hey all!

    Just got back into the land of Oz today,(NEVER travel with a 7 month old and a three yr old!!) and I have a friend who wants to start a garden of delights... I would love to help him start his journey...

    I am looking for any type of ethno seeds suited to the tropics...

    No trades because I no longer have any garden of my own in Oz... will pay $$$$..

    For some reason I'm not able to post a link, but search for a torrent called The Greatest Classical Collection Ever.

    50 cds.... It's a good collection to start off an apreciation of classical.. It has all the well known composers.. Have a listen and find what you like, then go from there...

    I just had a look and saw that it only has 1 seed... But I am currently getting good speeds from several seeds...

    So another 3 weeks later and Razor has still not sent what I've paid for. I've since asked for a refund and he's been online but ignored my message. I've since sent him another two, but he's not been back online. To anyone who knows him personally, I ask you contact him and get him to do the right thing by refunding my money. I have run out of patience with him. I know he's got shit going on in his life, but it's no excuse. It takes two minuntes to reply to a message and complete an online transfer to refund the money he owes me.

     

    Cant say I can help too much over here, but I will try and get a hold of him man...

    I know him...

    He can be a little slack but there is no way he would intentionally fuck someone over... He's a good bloke... I think he is going through a bit of a rough stage right now...

    I also know he doesnt own a computer.. He uses a family members...

    Just be a little patient with him.. He'll come through in the end...........

    ok, I'm all ready and raring to go...

    I have been having problems with my internet connection over the last week,( keeps dropping in and out.... ALOT) so if I keep dropping out, you'll know why... If it becomes annoying and everyone is waiting for a disconnected player to get back online, I'll bail...

    But hope it al goes well

    Great thread...

    Mine comes from a drunken buffoon of a friend using my name along with a Simpsons sketch.. The one where Homer calls Lisas saxaphone Sax-a-mo-phone to the tune of Beethovens 5th... Dont know why he didnt call me Sethomophone but he would greet me with Seth-o-mo-pod! complete with the 5th symphony tune... It just stuck... And just like eatfoo, I never have problems using it as usernames...
