    plant identification help!!

Irie, That's basically it. What happen many years ago when they went around collecting specimens, some would id them as Psychotria, then someone else would find a plant in a different area and would call it Palicourea. This lead to much confusion which they are still sorting out..... Respect, Z

    safe psychotria shipping question

Irie, I usually inflate the bag with a good deep breath. I guess you'll get all the air exchange you want when you get curious & open the bag to check them out! LIGHT! Yes! Sometimes they go in the grow room with 24/7 flo lights, otherwise kitchen counter with in direct light from window. As I said "It's always summer here"! So can't speak to low temp issues! Respect Z

    safe psychotria shipping question

Irie, It's always summer here I don't think air exchange is really an issue. I've rooted leaves, wrapped in damp kitchen towel & zip-locked with out opening for 2-3mths. I usually root in straight vermiculite dampened once then not opened again for 3-4mths. They are pretty resilient leaves. Respect Z

    for sale diplopterys pauciflora

Irie SP, Thanks for posting that last side by side comparison photo! It definitely shows they are different. Interesting. There doesn't seem to be much of a difference in the foliage, so the seeds would seem to be the only way. Respect, Z

    Name this plant...

Irie, Torsten, would you have any photo of each of your separate species? I've been banging my head against the wall on this one for a while now Trying to catalog the various psychotria's + flowers,(on another forum). My opinion is constantly changing??? My most recent observations lead me to believe that this may not be alba, as the leaves I have seen are broader in the mid section & have a distinctive taper at the leaf base. Hutch, It maybe good news for you? BTW all my psychotria's have wavy leaves. Respect Z

    Hypothetical Mitragyna speciosa germination

Irie, I use an indoor grow room set up with flo lights on 24/7. I do close the bag to keep a constant humidity. Spray only if it dries but otherwise just leave em alone. Check no more than once a day. When they are a more reasonable size you start to leave the bag open but that's like after a couple of months at least! Respect Z

    Hypothetical Mitragyna speciosa germination

Irie, Make sure you have fresh seeds! I got 60 seedlings from a 50 seed pack last year. Still have 40 odd after give-aways & die offs. Method I used was; Sprinkle seeds on med course verm & Ziplock. Flo lights! Found that with the med course grains, many of the seeds would germinate on to one grain making transferring so much easier! Transfer to small seed tray in individual cells with potting soil & bag it again. Wait a couple more months before gradually exposing it to hardening off. I find my plants 10mths old like to dry out between waterings. It's easy to tell as they leaves will droop noticeably. Respect Z

    Erythroxylum subcapricornia

Irie Cube, IMHO the first plant you found looks more like an Erythroxylum. The second less so! Though I only have knowledge of four varieties of Erythroxylum...... Just my MHO! Respect Z

    Searching for special herb

Irie, Maybe Ajos Sacha (Mansoa alliacea); Literally translated as "Fake Garlic", Ajos Sacha is a vine-like tree whose leaves, when crushed, smell like garlic, with a hint of onion. Ajos Sacha has many spiritual uses, and is a favorite with hunters. Ritual purification of the fisherman's body, tools, and canoes with Ajos Sacha to assure a good catch, are common practice. The plant is also used in a "Baño de florecimiento", meaning "Flourishing bath" to attract good luck, wealth and prosperity into one's life. Good for luck!! PM me if ya can! Respect Z
