"The Alaskan Bootlegger's bible" by Leon W. Kania Happy Mountains publications, 2000 173p. An excellent reference for everythig from beer to vodka and whisky, do it yourself infortmation for home construction of stills presented in a humorous manner.
  10. Well done! Ok you've shamed me into giving it a go even though I havent got the measurements. I should still be able to do a ratio comparison from the photos and transpose that to the height I want my 'creation' to be
  11. I am growing a Dicksonia antarctica tree fern and have it in a 30cm pot. A biologist friend of mine suggested standing the pot in a shallow container of water to promote growth and maintain humidity. I've done this but am a little worried about mosquito larvae and the attendent problems of dengue/ross river fever especially this time of year in the tropics. I was just wondering if anyone knew of something organic I can add to the shallow water container that will kill any mozzie larvae but not kill the fern???

Safe mozzie killer to add to water

Cinnamon/ oil sounds like a great way to go to make a mozzie miserable!

    trouts notes

I just received my personally autographed copy of trout's notes from moksha press. It arrived after 10 days from ordering. I doubt very much you will have any hassles purchasing such a title overseas...oh yes, well worth the price too! http://trout.yage.net/sc/SC3binfo.htm

B-52s to target NT bombing ranges

Yes, it seems we are the de facto next state of Amerika. The new IR laws are an adjunct to this as well with the added intention of destroying organised unions. Couple that with the new sedition laws and it becomes apparent who's template is being copied : hint - (the biggest terrorist State in the world). Since the Monroe Doctrine (and maybe we can go back to the original settlement of America), pre-emptive wars are the norm for the Americans. from Roosevelt's Rough Riders in Cuba to Korea, Vietnam, Central and South America to Libya, Sudan and now Iraq. The list goes on. I don't think US Govts have ever had a genuine commitment to peace. When there was a war that had to be fought against an imperialist agressor (ie World War II), the Americans had to be dragged into it kicking and screaming.
  19. Now that would be such a coool idea!!!!!!!! The number of 'additives' to the chocolate would be boundless and any number of liquid interiors could be included. Why a whole ceremony could be created around consuming him! Ive found the museum in mexico http://www.mna.inah.gob.mx/ where the statue is housed and if I knew spanish I could e-mail them and ask for dimensions. Does anybody on this forum speak/write spanish??? There is nothing worse than a fat/squat out of proportion statue!

Free give away of Eastern Bloc seeds!

    All gone...will post Wednesday
  21. OK. Not sure if this is kosher in this section, but I will always stand corrected (or moved!). I have Just finished growing some really interesting tomatoes. The seed for these were passed on to me by a friend who visited Europe and in particular the former East Germany. When she was sussing out a flea market there she noticed some seed on offer which were touted as grape cherry tomatoes. Yes they are definetely grape/footy shaped fruit! What can I say? Ive been snacking on these babies in the tropics for a few months now, and they kick taste bud ass! ..plus they are non-hybrid. Our grow season has finished here now, but for you southerners I guess its just starting. They are very prolific, rampant in growth, and the seedlings emerge with freaky looking purple fern like primitive leaves and branches, and later morph into normal cherry tomatoe like growth. The first 15 people will get this seed posted free! Just include your addy in a PM and I will post em off. Beside the warm fuzzy feeling I get for helping a community that has helped me very much, I figure I'm counteracting multinationals that have GM modified tomatoes... and that's gotta be a good thing! You MUST read this Book!!!

"The lost amazon : the photographic journey of Richard Evans Schultes" 2004, chronicle books isbn 0811845710 Here in stark reality yet mythic sepia, is Schulte's long career of discovery and immersement in ethnobotany in South America. Much is revealed about this person through his photography and for anybody who is serious in their pursuit of the natural and magical viewed through the filter of science and cultural understanding, this tome is simply superb! some snippets........ Cubeo shaman under the influence of yage, Mitu, June 1953 Schultes fording a stream collecting "samples" Snuff said... This man is a legend in his own time (hell, in mine too!). The book isn't just a collection of photos that have never been seen before. It explores the man, his rationale and the extraordinary drive that enabled him to cut through his cultural norms and pursue the transcendental with a genuine respect for the cultures that opened his minds eye. here's the amazon.com rant link http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detai...=books&n=507846 Just get the book...period!!! [ 18.
