  1. That Euphorbia obesa is like nothing I have ever seen. What an amazing work of art! When I see things like this in the world, it snaps me back to remember the complexities around me in pretty much everywhere. It is only the more obsure or rarer ones like this that makes me open my eyes wider.

    Nature is truely beautiful :)

  2. Western herbals for insomnia that spring to mind

Valerian- for when you can't get to sleep. Passionflower (leaf) when you wake up. Zizyphus for when you are stressed and nervous. And Chamomile for zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

Chamomile is an oldy but a real goodie. If you really need to use the supermarket stuff you need to use a good 4+bags in your cup. Try boiling 5 bags with milk and sitting with the TV off in your favourite chill chair. Have a shower or bath after that and slip right into a comfortable bed.

    ZZZZZZZzzzzzzzz

  3.

rahli, that made me laugh hard!

GP, sorry nothing to report from me. If it works, do it!

Thunder, Yes - I've heard about oxytocin's effects. amazing the link too between mother and baby.(ie crying triggering breast milk letdown).

Also it reminds me of pheromones and an experiment I saw where women smelt different shirts and scores where given to how attracted they were to the smell. It was concluded that the greater variation in genes corresponded with greater attraction. mmm, how does that tie in with this topic :scratchhead:

  4. I thought it was interesting how some birds have similar coloured objects or similar collection of things in them. One bird, for example, has lots of bottle tops. Another has mostly blue things.

The skeptic in me did say "what if it is set up?", but they do have big mouths and guts. They also probably don't consider there to be indigestible objects in water. There brains are geared for bright objects being food and not floating plastic rubbish.

  5. I would if I just got my tax cheque back or had some extra cash. But it is up to the situation. It must be pretty special and something nice to have in a collection!

At the mo, I just couldn't justify it for myself. Someone with some spare cash could be in a different situation though.

  6. Inoculating my first two bags tonight. Will try the three tape thing first up i guess.

How do you know there is not enough air transfer? Does the bag just swell up?

yes, and nothing grew for over 5-6 weeks so I threw it away.

  7. Well done Fenris. Great thinkin'

Some things I learnt to be important with this tek I'd like to share as I learnt the hard way :slap:

    • definitely double the bags.

    • Put something between the bottom of the PC and the bags. I melted several bag slightly making a small hole in the bags. There was enough water in the PC but it must have been too hot. I don't have a rack so I use a tea towel folded over to buffer the heat

    • Seems common sense, but make sure that the edges of the fruit containers are smoothed. I was majorly pissed several times after PCing and then splitting the bags with a silly sharp edge :slap:

    • 3 layers of micropore tape was too much for me. Maybe my holes were too small ??? There wasn't enough breathing goin' on I went to one layer plus an alcohol wipe every day

    Hope this helps someone :P

  8. yeah i love hypnosis and listen to as much as possible, courses, nlp, self improvement, as much as my mind can handle,

Haa haa, I like that. As much as the mind can handle!

So true. Another different type that I am listening to right now is the hemi-sync binaural beats. They are set to guided meditation/self-help-kind of hypnosis. I have taken a break over the past two days because my brain can't handle anymore!

  9. NLP is, I think, extremely powerful as it is combining hypnosis, counselling and various techniques into one. I particularly like the power of linguistics and use them with my children everyday. Tone, pitch and choice of words are keys to sucessful hypnosis.

There are a a few Bandler torrents which are very educational. I liked the "30 years of NLP". It showed that just like you said matriarch, confidence is everything!

I have found there to be two different stems of NLP. There is the one business orientated line which is all about how to make more money and there is another which is about helping yourself and others. There is a full 2 week training course which has been filmed from the back of a classroom in colorado (about 24gig) as a torrent if you are interested. (Its legal because there are no copyright restrictions attached!!)

  10. Coin, that is beautifully put. There is some great stuff in what you have just written!

    Especially this>

for example, a healer/herbalist...they give their advice/herbs away to someone at no cost -- the person takes the herbs, loosely follows the advice given for a week, loses the little faith they had, gives up on it, throws away the rest of the herbs, tells other people the healer isn't very good - they drank that awful stuff for one week and nothing happened.

Money is one form of energy thesedays.

  11. Hi GingaNinja. I agree about what you said about paying for something. It's really unavoidable in this world unless you live in a cave. Money coming in and money coming out. Definitely you have to charge for the work you do and if people want to pay for it, they will.

I guess it is just me. I'll pay for some things but Reiki didn't seem right at that time in my life (for me anyhow). I did the first course for about $100, the second for about $400 and then the third was going to be over $1000. I felt like plants had taught me more than what I was going to learn so chose to keep my dollars for something else.

  12. Yippy, finally I found it!

I saw this on Japanese TV about 5 years ago and I have been looking and looking for it. I've been trying to explain it to people but I get the, "Yeah right- you have taken way too much acid" look.

This guy is a Japanese energy healer (Mr Kanzawa). The previous week he healed some people but they said that it was maybe not legit because the people were maybe actors. So he said, lets go to the zoo and i will make the animals sleep.

    So skeptics, explain this one!

  13. Mmmm, it's a difficult topic because I have found that there are either the people who believe in it or there are the skeptics that scoff at the idea.

The original method of reiki was born and taught for free. Actually the more you give, the more you get. I bet you probably already know that about the physical world and energetically it is the same. Unfortunately or fortunately, I am not sure - there was a monetary value put on to the "courses".

The fact is, everyone has energy flowing through them. Everyone can use this and intensify it. The "course" only makes you believe that you can so then you start using it and practicing it.

I started the courses, completed the first, second and then suddenly realised that the courses are definitely not important. I went to Kyoto and looked for someone who was high up, close to the beginning, but it turned out he was just a robe-wearing dude who wanted to be put on a pedestal. Do ya need a temple, an alter, a church, a certificate? I'll save you the time and money - F#$% that!

Some basics points I like to remind myself are:

    1) We are all at one "point" and reality is just a creation of our mind. That means energy transfer from me to you can happen anywhere because we are in the same place.

    2) You need to practice everyday and meditate to be more aware of the energy

    3) Like I said before, the more you give the more you get. Some the greater giving, for example Reiki the world for world peace or reiki the children's hospital, the more healing energy you are going to have available for you.

    4) symbols and images may help - so if something feels like it is working, stick with it. eg. the taoist animals to protect and attract energy

5)There are so many more points we could all add to this list. What works for you?

  14. There are heaps to plant. I am in the same boat and just got a few in yesterday. (Of course it depends where you are living!)

I"m in Melbourne and most of the herbs are going to be excellent for right now.

Think of the fruity-juicy kind of vegetables. Like tomatoes, cucumbers, eggplant. As opposed to the hardy greens like broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage.

This link gives you the climates related to growing conditions>Diggers club

I got this from the yates page>

    When to grow vegies

Vegetables can be loosely grouped according to their growing season.

Cool Season Vegetables: Grow best when temperatures are between 10-20 degrees C or even lower. They include: broad beans, broccoli, Brussels sprouts, cauliflower, onions, peas, spinach and turnips.

Intermediate Season Vegetables: These are best between temperatures of 15-25 degrees. Include: beetroot, carrot, parsnip, celery, leek, lettuce, radish, silver beet.

Warm Season vegetables: Are grown best when temperatures are above 20 degrees C. Include: Beans, capsicum, eggplant, potato, sweet corn, sweet potato, tomato and cucurbits (including cucumbers, zucchini, pumpkins etc.)

  15. Yep, me too. It was in Japan in an expat pub in Osaka.

I definitely only had the two drinks and it was not that. Felt really sick and can't remember getting home.

I am really wary thesedays and keep my drinks close.
