  1. How old until there is limited chance of successfully growing from it? I have a Agaricus print and want to grow it :innocent_n:

I used half to make agar plates 3 months ago but they didn't eventuate into anything. I wondered maybe the loop was too hot or I might have used too much Glen-20.

    Thanks

  2. Panax is in a league of its own! A very special herb. My understanding and experience is that Panax is more stimulating compared with Siberian ginseng, Eleutherococcus senticosus, which is a standard adaptogen.

I agree with VelvetSiren about not taking it when sick. I heard a chinese explanation describing taking Panax while sick like killing someone and burying the body under your house. You get rid of it quickly but you have to deal with it later and it will fester even more deeper.

One thing to consider is "Ginseng Abuse Syndrome". Some people react with small doses and get adverse effects immediately, while others have a higher threshold.

Goes back to Everything is best in moderation.

  3. I learnt a lot LM! Thank you for taking the time to upload all of those photos.

They are absolutely brillant photos - great textures, colours and almost smells! I wish I knew that much about fungi to be able to ID all of those confidently.

My favourite are the little thin stemmed Marasmius alveolaris.

  4. thanks for the great photos magicdirt. Although there were clouds here, at least I can see what was going on via your photos.

Interesting to hear about the possible effects on the body as I felt odd just last night walking and pacing. I looked in the mirror and my pupils were huge (without anything to make them that way!).

I ended up just going to bed to try to sleep it off but laid awake for longer than usual thinking too much.

  5. even more freaky is that when I open a new browser, go to google maps and search for your long/lat location, one and only one google ad comes up on the side bar from the government. It said something like, eccies, pill, trips, etc get the real facts and visit the government page (with the link).

WTF, and I clear my cookies daily.

  6. I just joined textbookexchange webpage. I was really surprised that it is free to buy and sell. I guess they just make their money on advertising for the time being. I joined last week and have already sold 1 book. Still looking for the perfect buy though!

Edit> just noticed that abcdfree has heaps more and scientific papers. Not quite the same..

Is anyone here a member at the academic Book exchange ?

Recently upgraded my pc and lost lot of login/passes at the same time, so would greatly appreciate an invite.

It's definitely one of the best rescources for tech literature that I've found, and would greatly miss being able to access their data.

    cheers,

  7. Hi Genesis,

Have you heard about NEIS? NEIS basics talked about here

If you are on a centrelink for more than 2 weeks, you can apply. I did one through RMIT in Melbourne and it is all free. Free 6 week business course which is headed by some awesome mentors to guide you. There were all sorts of people doing the course - from rock bands to cafes to internet designers.

I had attempted businesses before this but missed some really important stuff. Mainly how to sell, advertise, manage my income, etc.

The best thing is that when you finish you get guidance for 12 months and payments of about 420 a fortnight to go towards your business. The idea is to get it making profit at the end of the 12 months.

I definitely recommend it and best of all I met some really great people in the course.

  8. Well done. Great choice IMO. There are a lot of colleges and with that there are a lot of difference ways of practicing. Some are more inclined to teach the spiritual component of disease, some may have more emphasis on herbal medicine, some may have a higher load of homeopathy units. Basically think about what it is you want and then go from there.

You can practice with a diploma at the moment however it is soon changing to degree only.

There are a few in Sydney like nature care college but I feel they are business orientated. Some universities do courses too, but I can't remember the names.endeavour college melbourne has just changed names (which it has done before I think). Heard through the grapevine it was....mmmm...evolving I guess. Southern School NT was the first in Australia (I think) and has a heavily academic emphasis.

After you graduate you can work in some many different ways, with different medicines and tools. There is also a huge number of possible patients you can focus on. Pregnancy, Pediatrics, Drug addiction, men's health, etc.

So i've realised my uni degree will be worthless when it comes to getting a job so i'm thinking of doing a course on naturopathy or something similar.

has anyone had any experience, recommendations or suggestions for alternate jobs/courses in this area.

particularly interested in natural therapies or working with plants...surely some of you out there are doing this stuff for a living...and i guess thats the key phrase here...what could i do to make a living out of these interests?

    peace.

  9. Yes, I think there may be a problem with the activeX because when I click the arrow, nothing comes down. Also when I attempt to send a PM to another member, it doesn't let me.

I'll try Internet Explorer to see if that works...

Yes, IE works. I usually use firefox.

Mmmm, I will have to change some settings in Firefox.

    Thanks EG

  10. Can someone help? I can't find my old emails. Actually I can't find where to send a PM.

I went to the top and clicked on my icon. That took me to my details, like profile, photo, recent visits, etc. Had a scan around and there doesn't seem to be any links to PMs.

    Can someone pls help out?

    Thanks in advance.
