  2. Great stuff. I am a believer.

    I have just started watching it now but the first guy's description really similar to a guy I worked with about 6 months ago. He also saw it with his father, although he was late teens.

    I feel it just reinforces my ideas and beliefs

  4. Desiderata by Max Ehrmann

    Go placidly amid the noise and haste,

    and remember what peace there may be in silence.

    As far as possible without surrender

    be on good terms with all persons.

    Speak your truth quietly and clearly;

    and listen to others,

    even the dull and the ignorant;

    they too have their story.

    Avoid loud and aggressive persons,

    they are vexatious to the spirit.

    If you compare yourself with others,

    you may become vain and bitter;

    for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself.

    Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans.

    Keep interested in your own career, however humble;

    it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.

    Exercise caution in your business affairs;

    for the world is full of trickery.

    But let this not blind you to what virtue there is;

    many persons strive for high ideals;

    and everywhere life is full of heroism.

    Be yourself.

    Especially, do not feign affection.

    Neither be cynical about love;

    for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment

    it is as perennial as the grass.

    Take kindly the counsel of the years,

    gracefully surrendering the things of youth.

    Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune.

    But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings.

    Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.

    Beyond a wholesome discipline,

    be gentle with yourself.

    You are a child of the universe,

    no less than the trees and the stars;

    you have a right to be here.

    And whether or not it is clear to you,

    no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.

    Therefore be at peace with God,

    whatever you conceive Him to be,

    and whatever your labors and aspirations,

    in the noisy confusion of life keep peace with your soul.

    With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams,

    it is still a beautiful world.

    Be cheerful.

    Strive to be happy.

    Thanks for that one. I am going to print it and revisit it!

    OMG, blast me back in time! I had that one on the back of the toilet door when I was 10 years old. I pretty much remembered the whole lot word for word...

  5. You might benefit for a DEXA scan to assess bone mass. Then you might know what you are dealing with and were to work from.

    There are 3 types of bone loss - osteoporosis, osteopenia and osteomalacia. The last is the only type really which can be partially reversed but the others are stages of loss. There is only one way down the slope and limiting the loss is the only preventative measure.

    Apart from Vitamin D and good forms of calcium, omega 3 has a lot of supporting evidence to suggest it slows the loss. Minimum 1000mg of EPA a day.

    I am sure you already know about weight bearing exercises and foods that accelerate the loss, right?

  6. I'm curious about the inedible aspect...

    It is completely unpalatable, or does it require some sort of particular preparation?

    Anyone actually tried to eat a JoL pumpkin?

    It probably is edible but there is just not much flesh. I was trying to find the variety with a quick google search and found some pie recipes but I couldn't establish if it was actually from that pumpkin. It looks like this type.

    This page says it is edible.

  7. I have about 100 seeds from a pumpkin I carved. I don't know the variety but it is the unedible type which is a dark orange and easy to cut.

    If you have the space and want to grow them, I can send you some. I guess I will send 5 envelopes (20 seeds each).

    Let me know

    Edit - sorry, I can only send in Australia

  8. Kmart has had some Rusell hobbs ones on special twice over the past 6mths. $69 or $79 - large and with warranty. I can fit 4 large jars in at a time because it is nice a tall.

    They are bound to have them again soon. I saw some in Melbourne about 3/4 weeks ago still on the shelf.

  9. All over . When i shook my head it was like my whole brain was bruised .I have had the dairy induced ones on one side at times , but havent had one for a while because stopped eating cheese and milk. I think its an auto-immune response to substances which it sees as harmful?

    I feel for you. I was thinking about your liver. Often if this is the case, they are more right sided and frontal. Preservatives, additives, fats from mayo, etc could have been a load on your liver. Anyhow, it is hard to know from where I am sitting. Really need a full picture!

  10. So many ways to freeze! I heard someone talking about drying to crispy dry, grinding that up in a coffee grinder and then ziplocking. Put in the freezer for spoon measured eating. One teaspooon, one tablespoon, or what ever. Or just grind when you need to.

    This person was saying that it was like keeping coffee in the freezer. Maybe good in hot Aussie climates? I know my house gets up to 35+ degrees in the hot months.

  11. I have heard many times after time spend in the freezer, there is a greater potency compared with in a dark place at room temp. Crispy dry - ziplocked - freezer.

    Anybody else?

    Yes, D.Sage-I feel ya

  12. Hey Zen Ped,

    Have you had your thyroid checked? Always worth considering if you fit a hypothyroid picture. Dry skin? Slightly lower temperature? Tendency for constipation? It is just that you said that you run 20 minutes a day and have a good diet. You also do push ups, right? Hypothyroidism is not that uncommon. especially subclinical.

    Incog, Look up Non Alcoholic Fatty Liver (NAFL). Fructose is only metabolised in the liver (takes priority over glucose) and in America they are realising that processed foods with high fructose corn syrup (soft drinks, cakes, snack foods, etc is super bad.

  13. If the product is homeopathic, there is no substance amount in it.

    I am guessing it has 6X potency in it which is below avogadro's number - none of the physical substance remains.

    Nux vomica is often used in homeopathy for acute cases of nausea. For hangovers, livery nausea, morning sickness, etc.

    Give it a go. I use homeopathy for my kids and often get brilliant results. Not every time, but if it works, it will work well.

  14. Ohhh. So I'm thinking that I must have had the loop too hot then. I fired it and rubbed it on the agar first and then back to the print. I fired the loop between each swab.

    I can see the spores on the agar, but no growth. I have them in a heated cupboard at 25 degrees.

    Anyhow, first time at agar so just have to learn from my mistakes.

    They are dung lovers. On that topic....I got this picture of this agaricus off the net....must be a rare variety or something
