When I take cuttings I put them straight into a bucket that has perlite in it and them leave them in my wardrobe. They seem to do really well when this is done. I have taken cuttings in winter and left them in the cubboard for a month or 2 and they heal up nicely, this also helps them to root quickly. Dont stress to much they will be fine. Perlite is good give it a try it will keep the cut end from rotting and stop bacterial infections.

I have eaten may different cacti fruit on many different occasions and never got sick. I have one cactus that fruits all year round and are small fruit that look the same as loph's fruit they are a little bitter but are suppose to have lots of vitamin C, well thats what I was told any way. I aslo eat prickly pear and dragon fruit and the apple cactus fruit they are all really nice. I know that all of these fruits are fine to consume and are expensive to buy. There are some web site that state all the cacti that are fruit bearers that are know to be ok for consumption.

Cool pic Teotz, mine look different to your one as it looks just like preuv with hudge spikes that is blue but not true blue. My preuv has little spikes just like the pedro. I will be happy to email you a pic Ace so you can get your cactus porn!

Cool pics!!! Well I read on this forum that the original loph's were white. We all have weird family and its no different for the loph's. They are a awesome cactus in any colour!!!

I recently have received some of the above cacti from a friend who got them off a cactus farmer. I received 2 Cuttings, that are very healthly. I thought they were T.Preuvianus but upon asking my local expert he told me that they are most likely a hybrid of T.B and T.P.
They are a little blue and have massive spikes like bridgesii monstrose. They look more like a T.Preuvianus but not as blue as the true blue. These are beautyful looking cacti that have just rooted themselves in winter after a few weeks of being in perlite.
Does anyone else have this particular cactus? I would like to hear what people have to say about this hybrid?
No pics sorry guys I have tried and failed to load a pics as the site telles me I didnt select a file to upload when I did.
Sorry

I have heard of Birds pecking them and even pulling them out and eating them. Once a bird gets the taste for loph's they will come back to finish the others be warned about birds!!!!

I've had pretty good luck using pure essential oils of ti tree, clove and thyme (esp thyme,) at very high dilution with sterilised water, its my general purpose "die you suspicious looking growth!" treatment and they all seem to go away. I use the same to treat recycled cactus prop mix and bar a few spots of green algae I don't get any damping off or cobwebby mould, etc. never use it on orange or black rot as I find that either sorts itself, with a lil fresh cutting and more airflow etc, cut back water bla bla...and the nasty cases it just keeps rotting no matter how cleanly you freshenthe cut or what you treat it with.VM
Thanks VM I will take your advise.

Trichocereus pachanoi is my pedro, and my grafting mediums are perskopis you can guess what i meant by loft. should have been a loph. they are small orange spots I have photos but this site doesn't seem to let me up load them. Thanks for the advise guys, I will cut them out as they are tiny and dont want them to spread. Is there any natural fungicide as I dont like to spray harsh chemicals on my babies. Thanks for the info. I am still a newbie to this site and trying to figure out how everything works. Thanks again

Hi Guys & Gals I have some orange spots on a few of my cacti. I was just wondering what is the best way to get rid of these spots. I have sprayed a little bit of fungicide on the one that are infected. I will post some pics in the next day or 2. I love mushroom fungi but not these little orange suckers. Is there any better way then to treat them with copper sulfate fungicide? and a more natural way with a certain herb? One is a pedro and the other is a loft, a few of my grafting mediums also have it Any advise is greatly appericated. Thanks form Sharxx101
