  6. I don’t have seeds but if you send me a pm I can plant some cuttings for you. It would be illegal to sell or trade Catha cuttings but a plant is fine apparently.

    My Daughters Spikes

I dragged my daughters of to 75 year old Mike's amazing garden a couple of weekends ago and after chatting with Mike for some time the girls picked out a cacti each and I grabbed a couple of cuttings of the Mike bridgesii clone. Mike also gifted free cacti to each of us which was a lovely gesture. We also bought a bowl with three cacti to support cancer research (his wife passed away three years ago of cancer). Mike and his wife planted most of the collection from seed and it was there life for 40+ years. All West Aussies that are interested in cacti should go and have a look at Mike’s collection and most of it is for sale. Reading a previous thread the pink flower one is a mammilaria is the other a mammilaria as well? I have been looking after my folks place while they are away and I took the opportunity to take a couple of photos of there zygo? There is a lot of buds if any ones interested I can take more photos as they come out ( I will use a camera not my phone next time) Have Fun Got

    Watering

I water my entire garden on auto reticulation at night twice a week and I want to set up my cacti on the same system. My plants are all Trich cuttings and are in pots at the moment. Is it best to set up with drippers or micro sprays or both? I have read a lot of posts on watering but haven’t found any comments on which are the best options. My thinking is that Trichs will enjoy the water spray on there columns at night as they will draw some of the moisture in through their skin. Is this the case or have I just been reading way to many posts on watering. On liquid fertilising (miracle grow/seasol) do you splash/spray some on the column as well as watering in to the pot. All input would be much appreciated Cheers Got

    Watering

Auto reticulation is my gardens savoir it never misses a watering day and it gives a good night time soak two days a week. I have pretty heavy business and family commitments so my garden can be a bit neglected at times. I might not be the best gardener but my main garden gets regular water, fert and heavy mulch and is going fine at the moment on the water restrictions. Mid summer requires the use of stealth watering techniques which the retic handles on another program targeting plants that suffer the most in the summer heat. I can understand the enjoyment people get out of hand watering and I do love being in the garden at night with a drink in one hand and the hose in the other but for me it’s time and garden size issues that restricts this. We are on 2000 sq meters with approx 1000 sq meters of garden at the moment and love it. Cheers Got

    Watering

I try and have as much of my watering automated as possible but as we have water restrictions this has to be supplemented by hand watering or by breaking the rules and running the retic at 3am All of my trichs are in good free draining potting/perlite mix so daily watering sounds like the go. One good thing about drippers is if your inclinened to break you water restrictions it’s like watering in stealth mode. Should my fertilising be light this summer as they are all new cuttings just getting their first roots? Thanks for the input Cheers Got

    Boot Sale Monster

Thanks for that PD I can’t believe how addictive cacti are first thing I do in the morning and when I get home from work is check on my babies. I had told my self no more cacti until next year but that lasted about a week. I am already chasing down new cuttings. Cheers Got

    Boot Sale Monster

Thanks Oxy the provider of legend cuts. When you lugged these out of your car we were all truly amazed at the size and quality of you offerings. Its all good with the ID's I’m just happy to have such great looking cacti. The cactus I think is Mike is only a small cutting that is just starting to pup I think that one came from Gilligan? For my new found addiction I have a big stack of labels and a heap of big pots. Now I have just got to get them planted. All input is much appreciated Cheers Got

    Boot Sale Monster

I just couldn’t help myself they are all amazing cuts but the big sucker (Rosie?) was a must have. It was I bit bigger but I traded a piece with Fenris? I did chop them up into smaller cuttings and now with the other cuts from the boot sale my collection is about 10 x bigger than it was. We just need winter to piss off and get some more warm weather so in a few weeks when I plant my babies they can go straight outside. Im sure all the West Aussie guys gave me IDs on all of the cuts but by the time I got home I was only positive on Mike and Bruce and Im worried I have mixed them up. Thanks for the input guys Cheers Got

Hi all i have been hanging around here for the last year or so without posting. I have found this place to be a wealth of information. Sadly my knowledge is very limited but im learning all the time.I am a west aussie and I have found it harder all the time to souce plants and now they are talking about seeds as well. It seems the west aussies will have to support each outher in the future.Hope to be more involved in the future Cheers GOT
