  1. When I posted the pics I did doubt myself and I will check I haven't mixed the pics up. Saying that I am still 90% positive by the position of the plant and the old growth that they are the same clone as I cut the tip cutting myself. The tip cut has been kept in a lot dryer and less sunny position than the other one which is down with my other Trichs. Cheers Got
  2. The first 3 years of my addiction my Trichs were fed full strength miracle grow and week about seasole and other than having very healthy looking Trichs with plenty of pups there wasn't a problem. I have since changed to a lower N fertiliser to try and promote more flowering over the last season and this one. The first three years was a good test for what I was doing with them as I didn't move them at all but last year I moved the whole lot from one end of my yard to the other and so with the loss of all of the roots from under the pots and a lot sunnier location It will be a another year or so before I can tell if there is any real benefit as far as changing the fertiliser and growth / flowers go. Cheers Got
  3. The name comes from its terminating habit but my understanding was the main clone referred to as the sausage came from the plant I posted. I believe there is also a couple of other big plants on the east coast that look like they are the same as well. There is also a West Aussie clone that terminates as well but it is unknown if it is the same clone. From my observations I originally thought it could be a different clone but now I am seeing new growth I would think it is the same as the east coast clone Thread on the WA clone http://www.shaman-australis.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=20324 This is some pics of my WA clones These are both from the same cutting This is the same clone sourced from another person. What did you do to your cacti today?

I have had a three goes with Aztekium ritteri the first I had a couple germinate and lost both at about 12 months the second was 0 germ and the third is what I have going at the moment. Five germinated and four were going ok one was stunted. I know there are definitely two still alive but I haven't lifted the pot out to check on the others for a month or so. They have been in humidity now for around 4+ months and I wanted to keep them in that environment for 12 months but I am getting fungi growing on the substrate now. I will probably try and graft two in the next few weeks and if there are other survivors then I will try spraying to kill the fungi and hope it doesn't kill what is left. I also have a graft ( not my graft) that I have had for a year or so which pups quite a lot so I am going to try grafting some small pups soon. This is supposed to be a relatively difficult cacti to graft its pups but someone here said they had done it successfully but I cant remember who. Cheers Got

    Giant pumpkin contest!!

After you give it a drink or after you have a drink. If it keeps going at this rate you are going to need to make a proper shade structure for it. What does you daughter think of it now. Do you need to put it on something else to keep the bottom up off the ground. If you do then I would be doing it now before it is to heavy. So 22 days from pollination and you have another 3 to 4 months of growth still to go. This is going to be a monster Cheers Got

At least you won't be having to water it much. What has happened to the westerners. Spring has eventually arrived so they should start taking off now. Cheers Got

Working out shade and sun in the garden...

You need to plant on the north side of trees for plants that like some shade but also require warmer temps in winter. Plant on the north-east side for plants that want morning and winter sun. Only plant sun lovers on the west, south west and north west sides of a tree depending on how much sun they need or you tuck them right under for full shade. Some trees will obviously give full shade where others will only give dappled shade. Depending how much sun a particular plant wants depends on how far under a tree you place it. You can also create micro climates by grouping a number of plants together. Placing a group of taller leafy sun lovers together and then placing more tropical plants in the middle. This also works best if there is already a heavy planting of plants under the tree then you can just tuck the pots in next to other plants. You need to remember that your shade is going to move over the course of a year. Cheers Got

Hey Stillman what are you going to do now your pumpkin has outgrown your 300mm ruler. I suppose you could tape blazer to the end of the green one that should last for another couple of days. Maybe you should invest in one of these. Cheers Got

sa to buy drone fleet - $200,000

I have one that streams or records high resolution video and takes stills. Front and underneath cameras. Controlled by Ipod and cost around 350 so defiantly doable for the money they are talking. Cheers Got
  17. If my memory is correct the way to go with these is to keep them in humidity for about a year like you would Aztekium ritteri. This so they are a bit bigger when you take them out and they have more chance of surviving. Dont take this as true fact as I have been know to be wrong. Cheers Got

    Joxs Garden

Very cool Jox. I have been looking at doing the same for my greenhouse but my shelves are only about 400 deep so I am thinking I will have to fabricate my trays. Are the tables you are using made for the purpose or have you adapted to suit. They look like they are about 1m deep ? Cheers Got

    Grafting tips and tools

Thanks mate. I went through a stage a while ago where I was having lots of fails and I think one of the problems was rushing to get a number of grafts done at a time so I looked at the ways that I could become more efficient but still stay clean and accurate. I can now spend the time making sure I am sterile and the scion alignment is good but still get a number done at once. Now I need to find a way to write my tags faster. Cheers Got

    Trichocereus seedling graf problems

Are your Trich grafts staying green or are they going red ? I find they are a lot more touchy as far as light goes whether they are on there own roots or grafted they stall if they go red. I have also had some that have stalled for some time and the months later they wake up and start growing as if you just grafted them. Also like Blowng said it can be if your alignment is not the best and some scions like Ario's seem to be a bit more touching about the vascular ring alignment. Cheers Got

  23. Some of those plants are so HUGE I cant even think how old they must be. The thing that really gets me with all of the cacti is they dont have any marks or damage even the monsters that have to be ( I am guessing ) 50+ years old and not a mark. Thank for posting the pics Nut It must have been an amazing experience. Cheers Got
