The size doesn't really come out - I'll post it in my hands later.

Seems a bumper year for these guys. Ive just found nearly 400grams worth - 4 massive specimens
-
I've cloned into thirty plates fingers crossed...
-
Yeah I think only the agaricus in the blazei and prince/augustus groups have that super almondy smell. I'll send you some dried if you like?
-
I get these guys in the yard most years - your run of the mill agaricus:
-
Hey Lindsay - so no smell? The almond smell is amazing - it actually makes my stomach rumble with hunger. No other mushroom has done that!
-
Oh right. I see your point. MMM... I think ill send it in to the Royal Botanical Gardens for a proper ID.
-
yeah no problem. Hope they work out on that cardboard spawning!

The albino was a commercial strain i got off a mate. Its a killer - busts open petri dishes, cracked them, and containers if its not fed new material! Thanks folks! And Foo - yeah those kingies are awesome strains. They fruit readily off grain -
Lepista saeva has the most amazing mycelium - it looks like purple ice cream!

Ive got four isolates from your Blewits waterboy *stupidly named 1A, Slow but pinner, bac (because it had bacteria initially and required some work to clean up) and fast strong pin). two of the four of these readily pin on agar. they usually stall about 80% on the plate, turn mild lilac from white and then pin or create large mycelial aggregates. I have all of these growing on straight millet, rye grass seed, composted rye grass seed, manure, compost and wood chips and now supplemented leaf litter. Both Lepista nuda and Lepista saeva seem to really prefer the composted rye grass in terms of colonisation. Some pinning on cased compost with coco coir but no fruits yet. The other isolates i got from other sources I discarded due to poor mycelial growth or refusal to pin.

here is the stem - quite hollow as you can see and dried out a little but red is clear where it was cut last night after 12 hours:
-
Stem stained red overnight. I'll post later.

Great thanks!

Most pics of langei don't have me convinced

This mushroom does stain yellow

Hi Tangich. I wasn't aware until this afternoon that there are nine herbarium type specimens of Agaricus langei from the hills to the east of Melbourne, Australia in the very geographical region of this mushroom. There was some orange staining but are your certain langei stains very red? Lastly the person that ID'd this mushroom was langei suggested that its bulbous, swollen base and reddish tinge on the stipe were defining characteristics of langei. I'm nit 100% ofcourse but this is what I was told today.
-
My friend tells me its Agaricus langei - as does a stranger on another forum. Superb smelling mushroom.
-
I'm sending it to a mycologist for id. It smells fantastic though.

can you share your experiences -
This is the same mushroom after a few days - note the yellow staining on the cap, orange/yellow staining on hollow stem after cutting - the veil visible in the pics above has disappeared with age:
-
They smelt fantastic
