    How long do these guys take to fruit? SWIM just informed me he birthed 3 cakes on the 24th and they have all this new growth, very white, very furry, very bumpy, all around the cakes, but no pins? How long should I tell him to wait?

    Update from SWIM today. Haven't talked to him for a while, he must of been quite busy lately. He said he will be birthing the cakes tonight. Well soaking them in a jar of sterilized water overnight, then placing them into a poor-man's terranium in the morning. For unkown reasons, his nice big plastic box is unusable, so he has to go with 2L coke bottles. He filled the bottles with around 2-3 inches of soaked perlite, with a few drops of peroxide added. He will be making sure there is always droplets of water on the walls to keep the humidity up. Anything anyone wants to add so I can tell SWIM? He might get a few pictures up in th next few days to make sure everything is set up OK.

    as you can see the tiny bit left is just dry verm, which cant be collonised anyway. ready to pump?

    ok hes looking into a cheaper and less heat building bulb/light. are there any actual lightbulbs which will fit onto the average lightbulb connection which will use lese electricity and not be so hot, cause a baton fluros not really an option to swim atm? he was thinking of leaving the lid of overnight or covering it gladwrap so i could use a less brighter light. even a nightlight or something? any suggestions?

    Alright thanks again for the info guys. Can he just leave his cupboard doors open then to allow the heat from the light to escape? He don't want to risk frying the mushrooms and definately don't want a fire :P

    Oh and can SWIM just use something like a clear empty CD case to stand his cakes on so they aren't touching the perlite. Will peroxide be in most grocery stores? Where does he want to look to find it?

    Yeah, I thought it was a fluro as the light is white without any yellow, just in the pictre SWIM took his camera makes it looks yellow, and it's an energy saving globe he picked up from the shops when they were handing them out free.

    Can he cover the sides of the box so they are not transaculent to make the shrooms grow up? If a proper fluro bulb is going to burn less energy, he can just grab a fluro one from BI-LO or woolworths for a few bucks?

    This is the setup SWIMs planning on using in his cupboard. He took a few pics so you could see if this will be enough light for the mushrooms. This picture is just to show exactly how he is planning on setting it up in his cupboard, is this an OK place to put the light, is the inside of the FC getting enough light?

    And here's to show how transaculent the lid is, will this be OK to use or should he get something more transaculent and place the light elsewhere?

    Here's a copy of an email I received from SWIM.

    Some more questions, don't mean to hijaak this thread, but i'd rather ask here than make another thread and clog the forum.

    This is the jar I sterilized in my PC last night, since all my jars have been too moist, and since too dry is better than too moist, I strained of ALL the excess water before adding BRF and putting into the cup. Does this look about the right water content?

    My first contaminated jar :( What do I need to do, I removed it straightaway, now do I just empty the contents into the bin and clean the jar (being sure to thoroughly sterilize) and it will be OK to re-use?

    I've got four jars going now (apart from the contam), one is the tall one which is almost fully collonised, two others which are short fat cups which are collonising quite fast, i'm thinking one of them might even get birthed before the tall glass, because it is moving very fast and around 70% collonised :P And then the last one is the *dryer* one above, which I only innoculated last night.

    This jar (tall one) is starting to collonise over that last little spot which was left, in tha last few days its collonised more since the photo in my previous post, my guess is it'd be around 95% collonised, would it be a good time to pump it, because I read you should pump it before it's fully collonised, or should I just wait until that little spot is all white then pump it? I;m not sure what to do, i'm reading contradictory sources :S

    As you can see this jar has white all over except for that one spot left in the last photo. The line where the tin foil ends is where the dry verm begins in the jar.

    Dude, you mean to say you're putting plans in place for 'if' you get nauseus - so youve not ingested before ? Aw hell, you should know that it's a walk in the park. Sure 'some' tiny % of people may have extremely sensitive stomachs, which would no doubt proclude them from eating all sorts of food (yea, food, not ethnos), but Mardy, be rest assured that shrooms are the easiest to get down. Try it out first without putting on the white lab coat

    Oh, I thought nausea from shrooms was highly common. Nope, i've never ingested psilocybe mushrooms before, but I have tried a few other psychedelics. If nausea isn't a problem I see no need for me to extract, i've never had problems with nausea with normal food or drugs, except when I drink milk way to fast :)

    Yeah, I gotchya. Well, I'm going to try eating mushrooms first, I just wanted to have a backup plan incase they did give me nausea, because I really hate nausea. So you just used normal metho from the grocery store, no distilling or anything like that? Keen to hear how it goes.

    Øskorei - I want to eat extracted psilocybin so I don't get the nausea from eating whole mushrooms.

    I don't have any knowledge about solvents, I've used loads before though, and never had any problems. I thought the extractaction was as simple as - soak/boil in metho, evaporate metho - ? I don't see what trouble I could get from using methylated spirits, but how would one proceed to extract the psilocybin with water?

    This last bit of the collonisation is going really slow. It's been a week and the jars pretty much remained the same, with that one little patch left. SWIM said he had it turned upside down for 2-3 days now, is there anything else he can do to speed it up or does he just have to sit and wait.

    Btw, I picked up that PC for my legal edibles, it works great, fits 5 jars on the bottom and has about another jar of room above them. I just did a test drive with sand and did the water drop test, everything worked :) I'm sterilizing another jar right now.

    Ok, so where would I find methanol? Would it just be in Bunnings or Mitre 10? What kind of brands sell it, if I just go into the hardware store and ask for methanol will they know what i'm talking about. Is isopropyl OK to use? Say I wanted to do an experiment with this extraction, and just did it on one average dose of shrooms, would that still work?

    Could one not just soak ground up mushrooms in Methylated Spirits, then strain and evaporate?

    - Apparently these crystals (psilocybin) can be smoked for a similar experience to DMT?

    haha, alright. so when the whole jars looking like that bottom picture- i'l tell SWIM tol pump it. he's got 3 others jars going but they've only just started to collonise. thanks again
