    obtusifolia?

ive made my fair share of threads on obtus youd think i would of ID it by now. anyway i think this might be it, looked the same as all the pics ive seen. the red tipped and bright green leaves stood out alot which is what made me investigate. also the leaves are more obtuse at the end. i couldnt get a pic of the tree, i didnt have my cam with me. but it looked very similar to this, but with more red tipped leaves. http://zariat.com/fotos/sacred_plants/acac...ifolia%2011.jpg the older phylllodes were dark green and younger ones very bright green and some red tipped. the colours contrasted and it stood out alot. very beautiful, the older phyllodes were also very leathery compared to maidenii or longifolia.

    obtusifolia?

there was only one flower on the whole tree, thats the one in the photo. the flowers looked very old and was not evenly spaced like on longifolia, it was all bunched at the end. also the tree had a really long and defined trunk whereas the longifolias ive seen have branches all around the trunk. i should try get a pic of the actual tree, but is there anyway i can be sure it is or isnt longifolia from the phyllodes?

    growing edible mushrooms

Ahh ok, looks like i'll have to learn how to work with agar. Thanks alot for the offer! Turns out none of the mushrooms dropped spores, the enoki just made a white puddle of liquid underneath it, I thought they were spores when I first looked.

    Acacia ID.

I went on holidays to a cold climate location and found this lovely Acacia sitting in the local park. The leaves were much smaller compared to Maidenii or Longifolia, so I thought i'd get a couple of shots to find out what it was. It wasn't until I got up close and felt how leathery the leaves were that I began to think it might be Obtusifolia. Am I right? The leaves are about half the size of Maidenni or Longifolia and they are much harder, less bendy - leathery. http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v218/sur...current=1-6.jpg http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v218/sur...current=2-6.jpg http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v218/sur...current=3-5.jpg http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v218/sur...current=4-3.jpg http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v218/sur...current=5-1.jpg http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v218/sur...current=6-1.jpg http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v218/sur...p;current=7.jpg

    growing edible mushrooms

ive grown shrooms before so im semi-experienced with casings and spawn etc. so i sort of know what im doing. the reason i want prints is so when ive finished my grow i can print the shrooms and grow again. i dont want to have to buy spawn or agar everytime i want to grow them. will i be able to do this with edibles? i bought some oysters, shimeji and enoki fresh from the supermarket and tried printing them. the enoki layed there spores down so i got a few prints of them. can i grow them with a syringe on brf cakes? do they love horse poo and casings etc? im planning on trying to grow them the same way i'd grow cubes, will this work? not sure whether the other two will drop any spores but ill wait i might get lucky. so can most edibles be printed? i only really want to grow edibles which can be printed so i can continue growing them. i got no idea on how to clone or anything like that, but am willing to learn if its easy. thanks for the help so far oh btw jim you have a nice collection. unfortunately i dont have anything much in thw way of trading except money? i need to get more info before i start growing them though.

    tripping alone or with friends?

I learn and realize more alone, but always have so much fun when with friends. I think both have thier place and I llike to have an even amount of trips with both.

    my first casing

I've got a couple of jars which are close to full collonization, and I wanna do a casing layer on these ones. They are just BRF cakes, for some reason my WBS isnt ollonising. What I plan on doing, is crumbling the cakes up into an aliminium tray which is 2.5" deep, then adding 1/4 (compared to the amount of crumbled cake) coco coir and coffee (the mix will be 80% coir and 20% coffee), so like a 1:4 ratio of crumbled cakes to coir + coffee. I will then mix the coir around with the crumbled cakes so it's evenly distributed, So i have a layer of crumbled cakes mixed with coir about 1-1.5" high. then putting aliminium foil over the top with a few holes and putting it back in the incubator. Once the coir has becom fully collonized i'll add a 50/50 verm+peat moss casing over the top, 1 inch high, and again put it back in the incubator with foil over the top. Once i see white patched popping up the top, into the FC and start fanning, misting and lighting it? Am i doing the right thing? I hope so, any suggestions? I plan on picking up my supplies this weekend, and don't want to get all this stuff and do the wrong thing.

    how unhealthy is this?

i went through something similar a while back. i was never suicidal, but simply put, i couldnt handle social situations unless i was with close friends, so isolated myself and hated myself at the same time for doing it. it may have been a mix of things, but i feel fungi was the main contributor to help me over come this problem. they made me realize the problem, admit it, and deal with it.

    my first casing

i got informed letting it colonise first onto coir before adding the casing layer would help increase my yeild.

Some pics of my mates first grow!

My mate had his cakes in Poor Men Pod's and the mushrooms started to hit the sides. So he had a big plastic box which was not useable at the time of birth, but now is, so he transferred them into the box today. Whilst transferring, he grabbed a shot.

    Current Blotters

is dxm counted as legal when used to get high? anyways, if it is legal for someone an extraction to get it in pure form is apparently v. easy. something like "add ammonia - add solvent - separate solvent - evaporate" ive never tried it and dont intend to, ive just read alot about it.

I used to be into a lot and had quite a couple lucids. Now i've lost time and motivation and haven't had one since .

    Drying?

Just letting everyone know. Epsom salts work GREAT! All the mushrooms were fan dried for 24-36 hours, then chucked in a container with the oven dried epsom salts in the bottom, left for 3 days, checked this morn, all are cracker dry. Awesome :D.

    Cases still not fruiting!!

Whoa! Awaken that flush is amazing. I'm so keen to try casing now, hehe. What sort of grain do you guys usually use? I'm thinking of using WBS in my next grow?

    Drying?

Just chuck it in there at 200 celcius for about 1.5 hours. Check it after an hour and mush it up a bit, if there's still wet patches then keep it going for another 30 mins.

Yeah, the lunch boxes are see through, she just plans to wrap in duct tape. It's the size she was confused about?

    Drying?

My friend in antartica is also quite interested in drying mushrooms. She is giving the epsom salts a go and going to let me know how it goes. She has a small batch of mush from one of her cakes and has fan dried for 36 hours. She doesn't want to use much incase this doesn't work. Now she put them into this: How does it look? Oven dried epsom salts on the bottom, with mesh over the top, then a papper towel ontop of the mesh, then mush ontop of that. She put the lid on and is planning to leave for 3 days. Everything look OK?

Some pics of my mates first grow!

He's using an electric blanket. He has some jars almost fully collonized and is going to put them into a casing layer this weekend. Just one question, what sort of container should he use for the casing? He is unsure of what size?? I'm sure we all know those rectangle lunchboxes that one can buy in Big W, would they be suitable? If not, what dimensions should he be looking for, any idea's for cheap containers he might be able to find?

    Acacia phlebophylla

Wow! That's so awesome. I wish you the greatest of luck with it.

    Drying?

I'll be using a mixing bowl, so obviously not many mushrooms are going to fit into one. Probably have to have a couple. Anyway, I have espom salts and cat litter! Maybe a mix of both? Worth a try? I have Max's cat and pet litter. Here's a little blurb on it. "With Max’s, odour is virtually imperceptible, and moisture absorbency definitely superior. There’s also less mess and dust, and because Max’s free flowing granules are made from natural plant materials, Max can enjoy the freshness of the country every day." Guessing this is OK to use? I'll just do a 50/50 of this with magnesium sulfate? I got no idea how much to use.

Some pics of my mates first grow!

Hehe. I think i'll tell her to pick everything off before she leaves. Then just re-wash perlite, dunk cakes and let them sit in the FC till she gets back. She says her friend wouldn't appreciated her taking mushrooms on the trip Oh well, the snow is something which comes once every few years, she can grow anytime now. Question. She sent me some pics wondering whether this veil had broken. Looks strange to most pictures of a broken veil, but she can see the spores exposed.
